Clue #1 You've joined the hunt for the regal runt
To prove searching does pay
Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole
And the golf course is out of play

Last year Jake took home the cake
With a clue a bit off level
This year we'll rinse off all our prints
Lest this hunt go to the devil

Clue #2 The point of all this is so that you won't miss
Your big chance to grab all the cash
Now gather your guys and a gal who is wise
You'll have to do something quite rash

Clue #3 We've scanned the county to hide our bounty
And keep you on your toes
It may sound risible, but our puck's invisible
Although it might just stick to your nose.

Clue #4 How fun is the snow how far will we go
You really ought to go see
Get up for the mission and not just the wishin'
Get into the game-it's all free

Clue #5 There once was a clue that drove you-know-who
To threaten a heinous act
We'd use it again but we're afraid of his pen
My friend, that's an unfortunate fact

Clue #6 All ye who look should honor the book
As one who stood for hope
Much was built in the name of the kilt
Look sharp now and never mope

Clue #7 If you should go look high then low
One could see it from a bower
If it's your bent you might seek a tent
To protect in case of shower

Take note of the wood and do what you should
To extract the prize for yourself
Build a bridge to your dreams as high as they seem
Leave nothing behind on the shelf

Clue #8 Look at the buck to acquire good luck
In finding the grail this year
Link a jar,a line, a star lawyer divine
While crying in your beer

He won, then lost and the nation was tossed
Into strife that was far from civil
The point I'm making is yours for the taking
Believe me - not the message board drivel

Clue #9 This name brings tears, elation and cheers
And occasionally even outrages
It sits on walls and rides the halls
And fills a dozen pages

The hills are alive and you'll have arrived
Refrain from the very injurious
Be bold and be brave but your skin you must save
What's off-limits should frankly be obvious

Clue #10 Look for the sight you hope is just right
You're doubtful and you're torn
Make the rounds for what rhymes with grounds
And part of a rose with a horn

Through flames and flow this park where you'll go
Is the site of sacred relics
Stay away from these and the cliffs if you please
Or you'll be in a heckuva fix

Clue #11 Air and river sounds lead all to Mounds
Far from the graves take your entourage
Twixt Burns and Thorn, an icy pathway is born
Across Mounds from a gray house and tan garage

Hell no fury hath as those on the wrong path
Mounds and Warner form a woodsy perimeter
The path not official contains footprints beneficial
Some 300 trudges in - quest for a quitter

This trail you must follow goes down a narrow hollow
Under a fallen tree to an old rusted drum
From here you must search for a hillside path perch
Wherein lies the center of fun

read this clue differently......

read the first 3 lines together ....

then...

read the 3rd, 4th and 5th lines together

weird

maybe some double meaning thing or we need to focus on anagraming or riddling just that line? "To threaten a heinous act"

Roasting the green Ethiopina coffee beans to grind when roasted... Putting out Eggs Benedict, rolls, bagels, muffins... Melting butter, lining up the syrup, jams, spreads. Squeezing oranges and icing up Coke, juices and energy drinks.

The lite's left on...

SCDs, luck, and MCL to all...

For anyone who has sent me a private message -- sorry I didn't respond right away. My little target bulls-eye thing is not popping up to let me know.

Also for some odd reason, when I reply to someone else's post it shows me replying to my own post. Any suggestions?

Welcome newbies!! Nice to see you.

Nice to see everyone tonight. Too bad this clue didn't pull us one way or another. I'm hoping the next three clues are just as confusing. Can't hunt until Monday. SCD's & MCL you beautiful people you.

man.. out till 2am looking. Started off at hazelwood (you can see Jake's across the street...) then off to the paper, then thought about more maplewood parks and went to check out wakefield (I wasn't thinking of soucheray at the time). Finally clued into the Soucheray connection and headed to Como...

I thinnk he reads here... was it here or in TC.com that Vino posted that 'although missions are very common here, they are not so common in MN' or something to that effect?

Sounds about the same on his posting... funny (at 4:10 am)

They also worked together on Die Xenien (The Xenies), a collection of short but harshly satiric poems in which both Schiller and Goethe verbally attacked those persons they perceived to be enemies of their aesthetic agenda.

For his achievements, Schiller was ennobled, in 1802, by the Duke of Weimar. His name changed from Johann Christoph Friedrich Schiller to Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller.

on a side note...favorite quotation from Mr. Schiller : "The voice of the majority is no proof of justice."

and he is at CoNo

For what it is worth Voldetmort was Lord Voldemort.

other things that came to mind.

The l etoile du nord clue had references to

north star, red white and blue(french flag) foreign legion

su a park up north, or by a flag pole, or at come, frog town area of st paul,

I think this clue refers to Soucheray, and not Voldemort. From my recollection of Harry Potter, there was no clue that Harry got or had which caused Voldemort to threaten him with a pen. Soucheray is the one, and it's a matter of figuring out what clue it was, and what the new meaning of using it again is.

The case for Como:

Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole

As someone said earlier--this is a reference to the deconstruction of the Polar Bear exhibit at the Como Zoo. It's really been covered extensively in the paper.

Get up for the mission

Some say this is as in "mission control" a space reference--the Bears were named after Neil Armstrong And Buzz Aldrin--first and second men on the moon.

Get into the game-it's all free

I agree with Brass Monkey--it'a a reference to wild game and the freeness of the Como Zoo.

Further, the clue Joe refers to was a about "a giant leap" Who took a giant Leap? Neil Armstrong.

And what's on the cover of this years Winter Carnival section? A Polar Bear.

It'a all about the bears.

So, I think with my previous reference to

How fun is the snow how far will we go

meaning a sledding hill, it's in Como, near a sledding hill.

DD,

I'm with you on all those counts,

I hate thinking its at CoNo.

I don't know what else last nights clue could be telling us though.

They are talking about Joe and how he threatened the CW with the gallows or stoning after the explanations came out foe the 2003 hunt.

They are saying we would use that same exact clue again but we cant for fear of Joe. So does that mean just use that clue again for this years park OR are they saying its at COMO.

I had visions of the masses tracking down Joe and digging up his yard last night. Still pretty far open as to where the puck may be, at least its warm outside.

I know this was posted last night, but here it is again for reference.

"Believe me, if I knew who was responsible for this year's treasure hunt clues I would turn the pretentious fop over to the public, maybe for a hanging or stoning. OK, I admit that's a bit strong, but I'd still like to see a representative of the Pioneer Press placed in the stocks at, say, Grand Old Day".

yeah, its just that our clue 5 says they would use the exact clue again from the 03 hunt so it would be nice to know if they are referring to clue 4 or 5 from 2003. It doesn't seem clear in the article he is kinda talking about both

LA,LA,LA... I CAN'T READ YOU!!! SEE NO EVIL! I CAN'T SEE THAT!!! LA, LA, LA, LA-LA!!!

All about bears? A bazillion refrences to bears, bears and more bears? Neil and Buzz? And bears on a button?

Since when is there a 'theme' to the Clues? Has this ever happened before?

So much for Boxmeyer and Millet. Don't gotta figue today's clue for even a nan0 second, but to figure out what that knucklehead said about which Clue. They may as well have printed 'To which Clue was Sourchery (sp?) referring when he wanted to kill the Clue Writer(s)?"

Dome, mode, demo. Chair-O-Key. Double division. Rosebud. <sigh>

This sucks. What fun is this? Lucky Jake, actually noodling and finding.. We're back to just putting in time until the final countdown when the fastest, most fierce, with the biggest/best digging implement wins in the meelee/free-for-all.
