Clue #1 You've joined the hunt for the regal runt
To prove searching does pay
Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole
And the golf course is out of play

Last year Jake took home the cake
With a clue a bit off level
This year we'll rinse off all our prints
Lest this hunt go to the devil

Clue #2 The point of all this is so that you won't miss
Your big chance to grab all the cash
Now gather your guys and a gal who is wise
You'll have to do something quite rash

Clue #3 We've scanned the county to hide our bounty
And keep you on your toes
It may sound risible, but our puck's invisible
Although it might just stick to your nose.

Clue #4 How fun is the snow how far will we go
You really ought to go see
Get up for the mission and not just the wishin'
Get into the game-it's all free

Clue #5 There once was a clue that drove you-know-who
To threaten a heinous act
We'd use it again but we're afraid of his pen
My friend, that's an unfortunate fact

Clue #6 All ye who look should honor the book
As one who stood for hope
Much was built in the name of the kilt
Look sharp now and never mope

Clue #7 If you should go look high then low
One could see it from a bower
If it's your bent you might seek a tent
To protect in case of shower

Take note of the wood and do what you should
To extract the prize for yourself
Build a bridge to your dreams as high as they seem
Leave nothing behind on the shelf

Clue #8 Look at the buck to acquire good luck
In finding the grail this year
Link a jar,a line, a star lawyer divine
While crying in your beer

He won, then lost and the nation was tossed
Into strife that was far from civil
The point I'm making is yours for the taking
Believe me - not the message board drivel

Clue #9 This name brings tears, elation and cheers
And occasionally even outrages
It sits on walls and rides the halls
And fills a dozen pages

The hills are alive and you'll have arrived
Refrain from the very injurious
Be bold and be brave but your skin you must save
What's off-limits should frankly be obvious

Clue #10 Look for the sight you hope is just right
You're doubtful and you're torn
Make the rounds for what rhymes with grounds
And part of a rose with a horn

Through flames and flow this park where you'll go
Is the site of sacred relics
Stay away from these and the cliffs if you please
Or you'll be in a heckuva fix

Clue #11 Air and river sounds lead all to Mounds
Far from the graves take your entourage
Twixt Burns and Thorn, an icy pathway is born
Across Mounds from a gray house and tan garage

Hell no fury hath as those on the wrong path
Mounds and Warner form a woodsy perimeter
The path not official contains footprints beneficial
Some 300 trudges in - quest for a quitter

This trail you must follow goes down a narrow hollow
Under a fallen tree to an old rusted drum
From here you must search for a hillside path perch
Wherein lies the center of fun

The snowman makes me think of a funny story.

My wife and I made a snowman at crosby when we were sure the medallion wasnt where we were rolling the snow and then we moved 30-40 yards away and started to dig somewhere else.

not even 20 minutes had elapsed and the thing was destroyed.

6-7 groups walked by and contemplated it but one group took the action and destroyed him. RIP Frosti

Back from: Como with a few hunters, Central with about 5 hunters, Acorn - only saw cars and no hunters, Wakefield with one hunter, Cherokee with about 6 hunters, Phalen/Keller with a few hunters, (lots of those Keller lots are still unplowed), Spoon Lake and Gervais without any obvious hunters, Harriet Island with 20 - 30 hunters, Mounds with one or two hunters, and Highland with too many to count.

I liked the feel of Harriet Island - though nothing sang out and said this is the park.

We were checking for park features and views that could be clues. I feel more lost in cluedom than I was before.

we thought central for a moment a few clues back, we thought it would be pretty rash to put it right back there again.

Just got back from "scanning the county" and thought I'd share some thoughts

It was EERILY quiet everywhere we went, especially for a Saturday and we're already on clue 7 - then again we didn't hit up Highland or Como simply because we're convinced it's not at either one.

Phalen / Keller - saw maybe 10 cars total... not much of anything going on, checked out the Spoon Lake area, couple bridges over there and the newly designed bathroom shelter thing, other than that not much.

Cherokee - saw 7 cars here with a few hunters scattered about, nothing else really popped out here

Then we went to a few secret locations and saw some very interesting landmarks and locations very nearby that I have to do some more research on... I really like one of these spots and I haven't even seen it mentioned... like I said, I'll have to look some stuff up to see how it fits, but I get ALOT of things fitting here.

Monkey bought me no time for cold feet...

I had to laugh when they talked about the metal detectors

My friend I would get slugs and toss them all around the park

Shame on us we just wanted to even out the playing field :ooh:

I went by Irvine and didn't see a bridge to a field of dreams (ballfield), stuff like that. Nor an arbor I liked. But I was there before I went by. It was the driving by that told me I was in the wrong place.

Liked the 'wood' road at the south end. But all it told me was not to park there during events.

Thought Linwood as you are first up in an arbor-like place before you go down to the ballfields. But it just wasn't rite.

should b a good turnout at the press tonight. I think everyone is ready for a blatant clue that screams a park to us.

Well I think I'm going play Wii bowling with the kids for a while - get my thoughts off the hunt for a while. Later.

ready? yes. gonna happen? nope.

I would be surprised if it came right out and gave you the park blatantly before mondays clue.

I knew I had seen another dome style wooden shelter like the one at keller island somewhere else. I kept thinking it was on top of the hill across 61 but it wasn't there.

Its at battle creek in maplewood. I just got back from trying to extract the prize from the wood there, to no avail.

But at least I know hwere I'd seen another shelter like that.

Well I know they re-did the bathrooms.. lol I drive by em just about every day, but my neighbor said that they re-built a pic nic shelter on the north side of the park, I want to say by Spoon? I dunno.. lol I live RIGHT next to the darn place and I really don't get down there.

A beheaded Frosty reminds me of some late night Highland Park research - look up how St. Denis is usually displayed - a headless statue carrying his own melon. Weird.

I have to say I like BC - already sorta leaning there depending on how one interprets these clues - but Conway fits in many ways.

The problem is the clues fit various parks like a glove - and then the glove gets a hole in it with the next clue.

certainly done on purpose, very craft in that regard this year. Many of you have hunted longer than I but I cannot remember a year like this outside of 2003, but we all thought harriet, not 5 parks
Sat, 01/26/2008 - 3:52 PM Permalink
zephyrus

nothing like 2003 in my book... I felt like digging then. I don't like this hunt at all.
Sat, 01/26/2008 - 3:55 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

because we all felt confident at one park even though it ended up wrong, but when you have five parks to pick from, it feels hopeless.

MadDog - I just finished reading and checking out your Gladstone theory. I like it! We were over there today too and having played a fair amount of Euchre in my day, I like the Jack Frost dealieo too!

Don't know if it's the puck's hiding place, but those are solid noodles for that area.

I took a cab to Como after I saw the eleventh clue online because my alternator had just went out... $30 bucks there, $30 bucks back empty-handed... went there the next night and got caught up in the melee for about an hour before finding out it had been found... quite the couple of nights!

Well. Had pointed out to me the error [just one so far] of my ways. You DON'T clear the PLATES! You clear the BASES. There's only one plate.

Dang it!

Why do I do this YEAR after YEAR after YEAR? I hate this stupid Hunt.

So after researching what I found online, I am able to tie this one particular park in with every clue without trying to stretch things.. rinse off all of our prints, lest this hunt go to the devil, scan the county, ought to go see, not just the wishin, bridge to your dreams (a biggie), leave nothing behind on the shelf..

Anybody do any scanning of the county and know what I might be talking about here?

I hope we get somethin good tonight!

I *was* thinking Central until the tap the sap idea. <sigh>

Had gathered guys with the Legion ballfields, a brige leading to them from the arbor(etum)... Roseville was named after Isaac Rose who was Scottish. Desnoyer, who settled before Rose in the same area was Scottish-Metis.

And a billion other noodles.
