Clue #1 You've joined the hunt for the regal runt
To prove searching does pay
Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole
And the golf course is out of play

Last year Jake took home the cake
With a clue a bit off level
This year we'll rinse off all our prints
Lest this hunt go to the devil

Clue #2 The point of all this is so that you won't miss
Your big chance to grab all the cash
Now gather your guys and a gal who is wise
You'll have to do something quite rash

Clue #3 We've scanned the county to hide our bounty
And keep you on your toes
It may sound risible, but our puck's invisible
Although it might just stick to your nose.

Clue #4 How fun is the snow how far will we go
You really ought to go see
Get up for the mission and not just the wishin'
Get into the game-it's all free

Clue #5 There once was a clue that drove you-know-who
To threaten a heinous act
We'd use it again but we're afraid of his pen
My friend, that's an unfortunate fact

Clue #6 All ye who look should honor the book
As one who stood for hope
Much was built in the name of the kilt
Look sharp now and never mope

Clue #7 If you should go look high then low
One could see it from a bower
If it's your bent you might seek a tent
To protect in case of shower

Take note of the wood and do what you should
To extract the prize for yourself
Build a bridge to your dreams as high as they seem
Leave nothing behind on the shelf

Clue #8 Look at the buck to acquire good luck
In finding the grail this year
Link a jar,a line, a star lawyer divine
While crying in your beer

He won, then lost and the nation was tossed
Into strife that was far from civil
The point I'm making is yours for the taking
Believe me - not the message board drivel

Clue #9 This name brings tears, elation and cheers
And occasionally even outrages
It sits on walls and rides the halls
And fills a dozen pages

The hills are alive and you'll have arrived
Refrain from the very injurious
Be bold and be brave but your skin you must save
What's off-limits should frankly be obvious

Clue #10 Look for the sight you hope is just right
You're doubtful and you're torn
Make the rounds for what rhymes with grounds
And part of a rose with a horn

Through flames and flow this park where you'll go
Is the site of sacred relics
Stay away from these and the cliffs if you please
Or you'll be in a heckuva fix

Clue #11 Air and river sounds lead all to Mounds
Far from the graves take your entourage
Twixt Burns and Thorn, an icy pathway is born
Across Mounds from a gray house and tan garage

Hell no fury hath as those on the wrong path
Mounds and Warner form a woodsy perimeter
The path not official contains footprints beneficial
Some 300 trudges in - quest for a quitter

This trail you must follow goes down a narrow hollow
Under a fallen tree to an old rusted drum
From here you must search for a hillside path perch
Wherein lies the center of fun

Ittiz not Central, 40. The tap-the-sap idea blew me outta Central.

Did you get Star Trek Second Generation (or whatever) for wishin' mission Clue like I did?

Bridge to your FIELD of dreams where the men are gathered (like LEGIONS of them)?

County Road C; C sharp <above/high>, B flat <below/low>?

I thought we had tapped the sap last night.

That could be wrong though.

Anything is right and wrong at the same time until we can get a better idea of the park.

I really like the idea of being rash = using the same park two years in a row.

Who knows? It could be correct.

I like that much better than giving up Central. But the average John/Jane Doe will not be able to differentiate a maple from an elm at this time o'year.

The problem I have with this area is that isn't this like a nature preserve? I don't think Maplewood would be too happy with thousands of people tearing it apart.

Can somebody convince me why Highland Park is a viable alternative to Phalen/Keller. I get the Scottish thing and the golf course. The circus tent is there too, but what else is drawing people to that park? Also, if anyone is up for it, I want to stamp my Mickey's Diner V-card tonight!

My noodles lead to this place - but I'm not really thrilled about it. I don't think the size of it (26 acres) is a problem - but since it is not a park...

No lights

No Trails

No real landmarks of any kind

and worst of all...

No toilets!

I figured dumping all this out today would either scare the clue writers into changing their strategy, or get lazy because I diverted everyone's gaze from Highland or someplace else across town.

I did a search into Gladstone and several Maplewood city minutes have popped up in their city council meetings - I don't think they plan on leaving it a natural area - its going to get torn up anyway and made into a "central" park or something as part of an urban renewal project. There is nothing to damage except tearing down trees - and even then there are very few to tear down.

Any comments on my idea of looking for a maple tree

instead of Maplewood,?

My first thoughts after reading the "do something quite rash" clue was Central, hiding it there for a second straight year. But I've given up on that thought.

My gut feeling is that it's in Phalen, on the Maplewood side.

However, I do like the park I have in mind as a dark horse for tonight's clue. Alot of good stuff around it, and it's relatively out of the way with a decent amount of parking to support the masses.

Anyways, speaking of parks that match clues, have we considered Hazelwood Park? Across the street from "Jake's" in Maplewood, also right behind where the library use to be before they moved it down the road - "Leave nothing behind on the shelf"

Not too far from Country View Golf Course which is now, literally speaking, out of play

First Evangelical Free church right up the hill, County Rd C, Beam Ave., Cancer Center for hope, Markham Pond (Markham was a poet who wrote a poem called "The Man With The Hoe" about hard labor - instantly made me think of hunting for the medallion, lol)

It was nice getting out and taking notes today, I really hope this next clue pinpoints -something- other than the fact the clue writer doesn't like us

Honestly I thought that at first too, but like green said they're not very distinguishable right now

The Maple Tree concept is very likely, but it makes last night's Clue #7 more or less a "garbage" clue - you cannot narrow down anything from a Maple Tree clue. I would hope (as would several others out in the cold last night) that the CWs wouldn't waste a clue on pure garbage.

Just thinking to myself in the shower, minding my own business....

and then another noodle hit. Don't have any of this worked out to any detail, but here is my noodle. Have a good tearing up of this crazy idea.

McMurray Field - dog house for the shelter in case of rain, ball fields,

I'm thinking it would only pertain to those 2 lines.

The way I read the clue is there's 4 hints in this clue.

Each hint has 2 lines.

I like it... but I have stronger feelings for CoNo than anywhere else... I just can't get my self to dig there without a little more... (Where to start?)

I actually don't think it's tent in the full camping tent - but more like shelters for picnics. Some are domed, others with pointed roof lines.

Is it true that Phalen's gates have been locked up at night?

There are NO TENTS in your shower!!!

What are you people not getting about who has an inclination to run for a tent when it rains??? And the answer is NOT Boy Sprouts.

Come on! We just had this Clue within the last 10 years. Almost verbatim, or something very similar. You guys are disappointing me. *I'm* supposed to be the last to figure something out.

McMurray field is right next to Como, Zephy.

What I don't like about Como is the construction areas, the new bridge span over the oven area with big danger signs on it, and all those dang poles along the road.

Seems like not a good time for a treasure hunt out there.

I have seen headlights in there...

It was locked up for about 3 or 4 days in 2004 though...

Cat, I said last time I'd rather that than give up Central. But I doubt very many people would know a maple from an elm this time o'year.

Did you not see my post? Maybe you're missing a lot because you don't go back to where you had been reading but take right up where your post brings you???

Maybe something Canadian?

If he's paid, have him email Tim. The link for that email is at the bottom of the membership fees and donations. I will also try to get to Tim and have him okay anyone sitting out there waiting for that to happen.

Thass otay, it was no great shakes. What I'm worried about is that you're missing lots o'important stuff because you pick up reading where your post takes you and you miss every thing in between from where you were to where you got to.

Ask Monkey. I think he can xplain it better'un me.

Do you ever sit back and wonder if someone from outside the Twin Cities were all of sudden dropped in the middle of a park during late January. What do you think there first thought would be when some dude walked up with a rake and started tearin at the snow.

I haven't seen ANYONE taking the words "Bower" and "Bridge" as playing card clues - everyone seems to be stuck on the idea that they are structures in the park - anyone have an angle on Card Playing that I can exploit?

I really think the Euchre thing is wonderful with the right and left bowers.

Green- I have made an attempt to contact Tim regarding Conrad's access. Hope it helps. It's all we can do at this point. Having Conrad contact Tim directly would be the biggest help.

quite a few years back was a clue...

Bid no trump

And take your trick.

This will help you

Make your pick.

It was at Phalen that year

I'm not saying I think it has anything to do with this year,

But that thought has been used B 4 and could be used again

Anything is possible esp. this year.

For the brave of heart, its time to start

Searching hill and glen.

Pitch a tent if that's your bent

But stay within your ken.

Explanation: “Brave” and “tent” refer to Indian braves, who fought the battle in 1842 for which Battle Creek Park is named. Hill and Glen refer to Hillsdale and Glenridge avenues near the park. The Scottish reference to “Braveheart" also alludes to nearby 3M, known for its Scotch brands.
