No - But twice I swore I saw his car driving through the park.

Maybe I'll share my noodling from today while we were out. This waiting is not easy.

Holman field has streets (runways) without names.

There's a 3M hangar there.

Light traffic could be the small aircraft that use Holman.

Point Douglas comes into Burns along side Mounds Park.

The another noble's domain could be a court - like tennis courts or basketball courts.

It could also be Earl and thus Earl St.

We also thought about Dairy Queen and Burger King while we were picking through trash off the beaten path.

I feel comfortable enough that unless tonight's clue says I'm in the wrong park, I'm sticking with it. It all seemed to fit so nicely.

And it was soooooo nice to be out hunting in this weather!!

We only came back home for some dinner and the clue.

Yes, I'm running late. My friend I took to the airport was being very pokey and another friend called me and wanted me to pick her up for the murder mystery. Queing up the clue now...

Here is today's clue:

7.\09Now “Old Hickory”, if you studied history,
Was General Andrew Jackson’s informal title.
Another Jackson may help solve this mystery
But keeping sight of the General’s moniker is vital.

And here are the previous clues:

6. The rule of Boreas the King is yielding to spring
And so we’ve reached the end of his reign.
To avoid falling into a useless sort of fling
It’s best to stay within another noble’s domain.

5. Could you be grumpy because your dinner was lumpy?
Maybe this clue is one way to put your mind at ease.
Hidden amongst terrain that might be called bumpy
Consider taking as your guide a group of fir trees.

4. At the treasure’s site you’ll find traffic is light
So you needn’t worry much about carbon monoxide.
But whether searching by day or hunting by night
It’s best to stay near plenty of hydrogen hydroxide.

3. It was not the fate of Pharaohs to lie in barrows
As such a burial was not appropriate to their worth.
But if by comparison one is as poor as the sparrows
Then try looking for something covered with earth.

2. If your thoughts are strewn and you’re in a swoon
And you worry, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.”
Remember the disc but try changing your tune
And you too may find the stash you’ve been yearning for.

1. The hunt has begun and the shining of the Sun
Hath turned the snows of winter into a big muddy bath
In the parks of St. Paul you’d best be careful as you run
Seeking the treasure that lies off of the beaten path.

Old Hickory has to be the tree.

Another Jackson....

Michael?

Cornwall?

stonewall, terry. cornwalis was the british general in the revolution.

somehow, battle creek with its stone walls looks rather nice.

Terry

Thanks! I was thinking one thing and typing another.

There's a stone wall on the Warner side of Mounds. We were over there today.

Sat, 02/23/2002 - 10:06 AM Permalink
Terry

And that's the path that goes over Warner Road...and it's the path closest to Point Douglas.

keeping the general's moniker in sight....general, andrew, or jackson? is there a st. andrew's church anywhere?

Sat, 02/23/2002 - 10:07 AM Permalink
Terry

Old Hickory would be the Moniker...there must be an old hickory tree out there. There's certainly lots of woods right in that area.

smacks self in head... :) duh. old hickory.

Sat, 02/23/2002 - 10:11 AM Permalink

Is Old Hickory also a brand name for bacon or something?

If that medallion is hiding back along that path and brick wall, we were all around there poking through garbage and junk.

And it was in daylight! I'd hate to think of poking around there at night.

What kind of dog? We saw several folks out walking dogs.

Allison's car is black mid size. I think it's a Toyota, but I might not be remembering right.

Camoterry - I see you lurking. Any thoughts? Any brain overflows you'd care to share?

I do believe we might have seen you. I do remember a black and white dog - mostly black.

We were first along the bluff - closest to the larger parking areas and overlooks.

Later we were around the tennis courts and poking around those evergreens and those clumps of sod.

Later we were about where the fire rings are and then finally down by Pt Douglas and followed that path back to where there's a stone wall and the foot bridge that goes over Warner Road.

We're just finishing up dinner. We'll be out again shortly.

I kept getting the feeling that folks were wondering what we were doing off the beaten track! It's not like the big hunt when folks understand checking around trees and through junk.

That would be assuming alot! It was when we were by that wall that I thought of the dairy queen connection. There was a cup there with a lid and straw. I can't remember where it was from now, but it wasn't DQ

Map Guy - Hello!

Hi TV and everyone else...Even if I had a park nailed down, I couldn't get out until Monday night. I am curious if I'll see others out looking.
