Clues for the Medallion Hunt

Each Day during the week of February 6th through the 10th a new clue will be posted on this page by 8:00 am.

Clue #1
From the Edge I was sent
and on public land I will be found
The Hunt is on, Good Luck to you
Did I mention there's a red tassel too?

Clue #2
A shovel you will not need
A gentle lift to the sky and you will see
This was once a movie ground
But now there's a treasure waiting to be found.

Clue #3
Postcards are fine, but we're a little blue
Mr. Snowman medallion, where are you?
Not to worry with the Spring thaw
The will return from his travels as good as new.
But lets not let Mr. Snowman down,
this year's medallion is on the ground.

Clue#4
Much like the cows of the roaming free era
There is plenty to explore in this area.
And by finding this envelope you too will be
A piece of North St. Paul history.

Found by me2 on Feb. 9th, 2006 about 3ish-pm --$400

Anyone going out looking tonight? I might go wandering to and fro after 8PM.

KC0GRN

I can't say for sure, I'd like to, but I have my regular Wednesday night church activities to attend. They get done at 8:30, but by then I'm famished and have to get a bite to eat.

I gotta hook up with you sometime though to get that tape. Any chance you'll be out tomorrow if it's not found by some miracle? Otherwise, I might be able to make it out later, but probably not till around 10.
Wed, 02/08/2006 - 1:30 PM Permalink
Mr. Med Hunter

Right now, I plan on sneaking out of work about 8 AM tomorrow for a couple of hours or until I find the thing. Unless, of course, I find it tonight.

I'll get the tape to you somehow and soon!

How well I remember the Rialto Theater in North St. Paul and the ten cent movies. I spent a lot of time in that now-gone theater watching Abbot and Costello, Roy Rogers, Hop-along Cassidy. I even enjoyed the newsreel segments, Joe Doaks and his behind the eight-ball series and especially the great cartoon before each movie started. I believe the Rialto closed down in 1956.

My magic 8 ball just told me that you two are gonna find it at 8:25 tomorrow morning.

well I guess I just think #2 may be that walkover bridge over McKnight. #1 public property - #3 on the ground

guess I'll wait for tomorrow mornings clue too

I'll guess 8:44 am
Wed, 02/08/2006 - 2:02 PM Permalink
Wicked Nick

but if its 8:44, that would mean the magic 8 ball was wrong

In the 5 years that I've owned it, its never been wrong...

I specifically asked if it would be found at 8:25 tomorrow morning, and it said "All signs point to yes"

So are we thinking the Urban Ecology Center again? heh, place is huge.

I walked over that bridge monday night, it's part of the gateway trail.

yeah 36 and 61 though- you would have to see over English st.

it was the Maple-Leaf drive-in
Wed, 02/08/2006 - 2:15 PM Permalink
Wicked Nick

Im still pissed that they got rid of that place....

the only two drive-ins that are still around, that I know of, is that one off of 94, that interferes with your car radio, when you drive to Wal-Mart in Hudson.... and the one thats near Cottage Grove....

Maple Leaf is right. My cousins inlaws owned the place. I had to cut grass there one summer. That really sucked! I told my uncle that I didn't want the job anymore.

oh well.

I don't remember anyone getting hit by a brick from that bridge. It's so local for me I'm sure I would've heard something.

I'f you're looking for 36 and 61, Those pictures are looking in the wrong direction. I'm not sure if you can see 61 from anywhere in that area... then again...

Clue Master

I thought the brick drop happened over 94 by Snelling or something? It hit an RV if I remember correctly.

The brick was probably made at that factory though. That place is huge!

not too sure about that bridge, but the one over White Bear Ave.... like... maybe 5-6 years ago, a couple kids dropped brick, yes.....

could be wrong, but I believe it killed the driver too....
