Sleeping in the backs of cars
wonder where we go when we say too much
do you think we're ever gonna work it out
you really don't have much to give
I'll remember that as long as i live
do you think we're ever gonna see it through
do you think we're ever gonna see it through
I'll be alright
just for tonight
you'll be high
high as a kite
just for tonight
My telephone says i'm alone
telling me another bird has flown
do you think we're ever gonna work it out
crying in the backs of cars
sleeping in the skyway between the bars
do you think we're ever gonna see it through
do you think we're ever gonna see it through
I'll be alright
just for tonight
you'll be high
high as a kite
just for tonight
when dreams lose out to memories
one of these days
you'll see things my way
and love
love took a year from me
one of these days i'll see it again.
when dreams lose out to memories
one of these days
you'll see things my way
and love
love took a year from me
one of these days i'll see it again.
I've got no love
for my hometown
500 miles isn't far enough to run
you're so carefree
you can't judge me
delusions make me feel so nice
can you still breathe
I don't need your lessons to learn
throw in the towel before i get burned
burned
cuz this is an ode to cover bands
and bad punk rock and a town i can't stand
stand
Standards
I can't relate
I don't believe in that anymore
I guess i'll sit it out
feeling sick
feeling well
the same thing that kept me high
brought me down, down, down
I don't need your lessons to learn
throw in the towel before i get burned
burned
cuz this is an ode to cover bands
bad punk rock and all the things i can't stand
stand
Take a picture
let it go
In the folds of your wallet
that let you know
that what you've had has been replaced
and all the lives that you have led
some expanded and some are dead
but it feels so good to like yourself again
and it's hard enough to break (more than I can take)
and it's hard enough to break (more than I can take)
and it's hard enough to break
you better give it away
Here it comes again
can't you see it
the attitude you take with me
so give me a new address
and get me away from your mess
a pill to make you function
an attitude adjustment
a smile from your replacement
that is all you need
and it's hard enough to break (more than I can take)
and it's hard enough to break (more than I can take)
and it's hard enough to break
you better give it away
you better give it away
It's more than i can take (hard enough to break)
It's more than i can take (hard enough to break)
It's more than i can take (hard enough to break)
It's more than i can take (hard enough to break)
It's more than i can take (hard enough to break)
Baby wears low rise jeans
lives in a high rise in midtown
cold kisses in the cornfields tonight
then they take you for a ride
down the avenues and alleyways and dead ends
motorcars run out of gas
the light rail runs out of tracks
It's times like these i'm weak in the knees
and my stomach hurts like hell
I guess i should learn to live with this burn
and start moving on myself
you're just like a cloud
Baby likes to keep in touch
with my memories and answering machine
I lost my confidence
to past acquaintances and broken down old taxi cabs
It's times like these i'm weak in the knees
and my stomach hurts like hell
I guess i should learn to live with this burn
and start moving on myself
you're just like a cloud
you're just like a cloud
you come and go
and you rain, and you rain
She comes to me
like broken glass
heart half empty
fading fast
she's got "Girls Can Tell" on her stereo
spinning round and round to "Chicago at Night"
She knows what i'm after
and she's gone before the sun
She's on the telephone
whispering sweet nothings
feel like an asshole
I'm probably right
there's no connection
karma sets in
I'm tossed to the side
like 1995
she knows what i'm after
and she's gone before the sun
She knows what i'm after
and she's gone before the sun
you never told me it'd be like this
It all started with a kiss
that got me into this
she comes to me
like broken glass
heart half empty
fading fast
I won't let you break
your voice makes me shake
I'm gonna give you away
and i'm in charge
up to my neck in your debt
keep away from me
keep away from me
cuz i got a postcard
I've got a postcard that says breathe
Breaking the patterns
where nothing really matters
ain't that easy to break
habits are built
sweet cherry guilt
Is gonna take you away
cuz i got a postcard
I've got a postcard that says breathe
darling
breath
darling
when you go to sleep
miss amphetamine
miss amphetamine
I guess you're finally gone
no more nothing's wrong
I guess I was naive to think we'd have a family someday
Can't say I didn't see it coming
doesn't make it hurt any less
shadows on the wall
Clocks in the air
can't hear nothing
now that you're gone
I get up and read the news and shake away
these dusty blues from you
I guess there's nothing i can say but lay here and stay awake
thinking of you
She says, "I still love you"
"just not the way that you want me to"
She says she still cares but how am i supposed to feel when she said that all along
I get up and read the news and shake away
these dusty blues from you
I guess there's nothing i can say but lay here and stay awake
thinking of you
I get up and read the news and shake away
these dusty blues from you
I guess there's nothing i can say but lay here and stay awake
thinking of you
I still love you
You can leave if you want to
I don't own you,
and i can't trust you
nothing's changing
the plane touches down on the underground
another dying conversation
It's only in my head
and it's only in my head
I don't want to bring you down
I want to be there for everything you do
I don't want to bring you down
I want to be there for everything you do
and i'll do what the voices tell me to
and i'll listen to their songs
We're so inspired
like a dying transistor radio
and the drummer's working overtime
It's a lack of sleeping
too much
too little take your medicine

There showing a concert of a Pink Floyd tribute band. It's awesome! And they're coming to the Orpheum on 11/6 and the only way to get tickets is to donate $180 to PBS and become a member. Here's a link to what looks to be an old concert that I must have missed. These guys are awesome.

Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph,
sail on the steel breeze.
Come on you boy child, you winner and loser,
come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine
these guys rock....
they were here last summer... my dad almost got tix for it, because he thought it was actually the real Pink Floyd.....
I dont know how a cover band got so big....
damn though... i bet the lightshow is better in person...
Now that I've lost everything to you
You say you wanna start something new
And it's breakin' my heart you're leavin'
Baby, I'm grievin'
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
and I'll always remember you like a child, girl
You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breakin' my heart in two
Because I never wanna see you a sad, girl
Don't be a bad girl
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
and I'll always remember you like a child, girl
Baby, I love you
But if you wanna leave, take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh, baby, baby, it's a wild world
and I'll always remember you like a child, girl
I was a little too tall
Could've used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high
Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves
In the summertime
In the sweet summertime
We weren't in love, oh no, far from it
We weren't searchin' for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Livin' by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods
I used her, she used me
But neither one cared
We were gettin' our share
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin' on our night moves
And it was summertime
And oh the wonder
We felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder
I awoke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in
I know it's late, I know you're weary
I know your plans don't include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
Longing for shelter from all that we see
Why should we worry, no one will care girl
Look at the stars so far away
We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
We've got tonight babe
Why don't you stay?
Deep in my soul, I've been so lonely
All of my hopes, fading away
I've longed for love, like everyone else does
I know I'll keep searching, even after today
So there it is girl, I've said it all now
And here we are babe, what do you say?
We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
We've got tonight babe
Why don't you stay?
I know it's late, I know you're weary
I know your plans don't include me
Still here we are, both of us lonely
Both of us lonely
We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
Let's make it last, let's find a way
Turn out the light, come take my hand now
We've got tonight babe
Why don't you stay?
Why don't you stay?
If tomorrow all the things were gone IÂ’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
IÂ’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
And IÂ’m proud to be an American where at least I know IÂ’m free.
And I wonÂ’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And IÂ’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, thereÂ’s pride in every American heart,
and itÂ’s time to stand and say:
IÂ’m proud to be an American where at least I know IÂ’m free.
And I wonÂ’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And IÂ’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
Now and then a little thing gets by.
Now and then weÂ’ll cry.
Like a fall in a war, like a motherÂ’s open arms.
Like a pawn in a game, hard to take.
There we sit on a line, wasting fortunes at a time, and pray.
All the time we are gone, thereÂ’s no reason, thereÂ’s no way.
Oh, the soul is the one so they say.
There we sit on a line, wasting fortunes at a time, and play.
She never thought heÂ’d be this way.
Her arms aloft, she holds.
But now itÂ’s all a memory.
And itÂ’s gone...
I remember one time back in the day when lilydale was our cruising spot.... we were driving it way late at night after being out ghost hunting and crap, and darkside of the moon came on KQ or something, on the way through there.... that dark ass scary road, combined with the beginning of that song IS NOT cool....
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war,
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
And If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
Everything that keeps me together is falling apart/IÂ’ve got
This thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over.
My boss just quit the job says heÂ’s goin out to find blind
Spots and heÂ’ll do it.
The 3rd planet is sure that theyÂ’re being watched by an
Eye in the sky that canÂ’t be stopped.
When you get to the promise land your gonna shake that
Eyes hand.
Your heart felt good it was drippin pitch and made of wood.
And your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass to me.
Outside naked, shiverin looking blue, from the cold
Sunlight thatÂ’s reflected off the moon.
Baby cum angels fly around you reminding you we used
To be three and not just two.
And thatÂ’s how the world began.
And thatÂ’s how the world will end.
A 3rd had just been made and we were swimming in the
Water, didnÂ’t know then was it a son was it a daughter.
When it occurred to me that the animals are swimming
Around in the water in the oceans in our bodies and
Another had been found another ocean on the planet
Given that our blood is just like the atlantic.
And how.
The universe is shaped exactly like the earth if you go
Straight long enough youÂ’ll end up where you were.
I've waited, and given the chance again,
I'd do it all the same, but either way
I'm always outplayed, up on your down days
I left it the right way, to start again
Now watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me
When you said that we were wrong, life goes on, just look how long I've agreed
Now watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me
When you said that we were wrong, life goes on, just look how long I've agreed
Out of place, like a gem on a coalface
Lost on the right way, it's all the same
'Cause I've had my hopes raised, riding the wrong waves
Scared when you felt safe to start again
Now watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me
When you said that we were wrong, life goes on, look how wrong I could be
Now watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me
When you said that we were wrong, life goes on, you blew me away
Awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Awaaaaaaay
Ten pounds and a head of hair
Came into without a care
What they thought were cries
Were little laughs
Only looking forward and moving fast
The little bundle had arrived
And i was happy to be alive
In a magic world
Long days and dreaming nights
Wide eyes take in all the sights
A little wonder goes a long, long way
Learning where to go and what to say
Say hello to your new son
Well he sure is having fun
In a magic world
Every moment's built to last
When you're living without a past
In a magic world
Everyone loves you
Nobody cares
An awful collection
Of enemies and friends
Congratulations to you
With sad regrets
I'm tired of the old shit
Let the new shit begin
The psychic pain
Of living in this world
Is overwhelming me
Again and again
A beautiful afternoon
Inside you in your bed
I'm tired of the old shit
Let the new shit begin
Nobody loves you
Everyone cares
None of them know what's
Coming 'round the bend
Congratulations to me
Many happy returns
I'm tired of the old shit
Let the new shit begin
After that confrontation
You left me wringing my cold hands
We shared some information
We might not recover from
And I watch your convictions
Melt like ice cubes in an ocean
You were so poorly cast as a malcontent
You've got them all on your side
That just makes more for doubt to slaughter
"I never knew he thought that!"
I heard you say falling out of the van
"Don't ask for his opinion
They ought to drown him in holy water"
Will you remember my reply
When your high horse dies?
We'd like to go the distance
But not a one of us is going to you
See no one is wise enough to turn the ancient boat around
These are the muddy waters I am swimming in
To make a living were I to drown in them
It should come as no surprise
You've got them all on your side
That just makes more for doubt to slaughter
"I never knew he thought that!"
I heard you say falling out of the van
"Don't ask for his opinion
They ought to drown him in holy water"
Will you remember my reply
When your high horse dies?
Yours is the only version of my desertion that I could ever subscribe to
That is all that I can do
You are a past dinner, the last winner, I'm raping all around me
Until the last drop is behind you
But you're so cute when you're frustrated, dear
Yeah, you're so cute when you're sedated, oh dear
Sleep tight, grim rite, we have two hundred couches where you can...
Sleep tight, grim rite, we have two hundred couches where you can
Sleep tonight,
Sleep tonight,
Sleep tonight,
Sleep tonight.
You are the only person who's completely certain there's nothing here to be into
That is all that you can do
You are a past sinner, the last winner, and everything we've come to makes you you
But you cannot safely say that while I will be away, you will not consider sadly
How you helped me to stray
And you will not reach me I am resenting a position that's past resentment and now
I can't consider, and now there is this distance, so...
you're such a beautiful freak wish there were more just like you you're not like all of the others
and that is why i love you
beautiful freak, beautiful freak
that is why i love you
beautiful freak, beautiful freak
some people think you have a problem
but that problem lies only with them
just 'cause you are not like the others
but that is why i love you
beautiful freak, beautiful freak
yeah that is why i love you
beautiful freak, beautiful freak
too good for this world
but i hope you will stay
and i'll be here to see that you don't fade away
you're such a beautiful freak bet you are flying inside dart down and then go for cover
and know that i love you beautiful freak,
you know that i love you beautiful freak, beautiful freak
kick ass....
(not)
There's still life in the heart
You're coming down, I'm going with you
It's easier in the soft
Light of the shimmery, shadow windows
And babe, I'd like you to meet someone
When you meet her, please be serious
She thinks it doesn't matter
If you're familiar with her sisters and her disease
I hate the one thing I need
I just don't trust you now, baby
All over the leaves on the ground
I walk around
I'm late for hundreds of things
The walls are thin but I can't reach through them
I'm chasing dragons down the streets
My eyes are feeble and filled with poison
And babe, I'm just like the best thing
That could happen, happen to someone
Now I'm seething from the inside, cast it to the outside
Reaching your side of your cheeks
I hate the one thing I need
I just don't trust you now, baby
All over the streets on the town
I walk around
Ophelia
Let your life be shallow
Ophelia
Let your life be hard
Ophelia
Let your life be shallow
Ophelia
Let your life be hard
I saw her, yea I saw her
With a black tongue tied round the roses
A fist pounding on a vending machine
Toy diamond ring stuck on her finger
With a noose she could hang from the sun
And point it out with the dark sunglasses
Walking crooked down the beach
She spits in the sand
Where their bones are bleaching
And I know I'm gonna steal her eye
She doesn't even know it's wrong
And you know I'm gonna make her die
Take her where her soul belongs
Know I'm gonna steal her eye
Nothing that I wouldn't try
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
My sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
I saw her, yea I saw her
With her hands tied back
Her rags are burnin'
Calling out from a landfilled life
Scrawling her name up on the ceiling
Throw a coin in the fountain of dust
White noise, her ears are ringing
Got a ticket for my midnight hanging
Throw a bullet from a freight train leaving
And I know I'm gonna steal her eye
She doesn't even know it's wrong
And you know I'm gonna make her die
Take her where her soul belongs
Know I'm gonna steal her eye
Nothing that I wouldn't try
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
My sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
My sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
My sun-eyed girl
Hey, my sun-eyed girl
Hey now what you doing
Don't go down the road to ruin
Look back at where you came from
Count to ten before you go wrong
You have the brightest future
Writing songs on your computer
But you couldn't walk the extra mile
And now your life is running wild
You've gotta hold your head up high
You know it's not too late to try
You've gotta lift that heavy load
You've gotta get back in control
The days you've said to me
What is it that your eyes see
Is it love or is it hate
Banging on an opened gate
Hey now, who's that with you
What's that thing I saw him give you
Turn around don't come no closer
You took it from my shoulder holster
You've gotta hold your head up high
You know it's not too late to try
You've gotta lift that heavy load
You've gotta get back in control
You've gotta hold your head up high
You know it's not too late to try
You've gotta lift that heavy load
You've gotta get back in control
Why don't you put that gun right down
Before you kill the love you found
Hey now what you doing (what you doing)
Don't go down the road to ruin
When you grow up
Livin' like a good boy oughta
And your mama
Takes a shine to her best son
Something different
All the girls they seem to like you
Cause you're handsome
Like to talk and a whole lot of fun
But now your girl's gone a missin'
And your house has got an empty bed
The folks'll wonder 'bout the wedding
They won't listen to a word you said
[Chorus]
Gonna take your mama out all night
Yeah we'll show her what it's all about
We'll get her jacked up on some cheap champagne
We'll let the good times all roll out
And if the music ain't good, well it's just too bad
We're gonna sing along no matter what
Because the dancers don't mind at the New Orleans
If you tip 'em and they make a cut
Do it
Take your mama out all night
So she'll have no doubt
That we're doing oh the best we can
We're gonna do it
Take your mama out all night
You can stay up late
'cause baby you're a full grown man
It's a struggle
Livin' like a good boy oughta
In the summer
Watchin' all the girls pass by
When your mama
Heard the way that you'd been talking
I tried to tell you
That all she'd wanna do is cry
Now we end up takin' the long way home
Lookin' overdressed wearin' buckets of stale cologne
It's so hard to see streets on a country road
When your glasses in the garbage
And your Continental's just got towed
Doesn't Remind Me Lyrics
I walk the streets of Japan till I get lost
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
With a graveyard tan carrying a cross
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like studying faces in a parking lot
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like driving backwards in the fog
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
[Chorus]
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget
I like gypsy moths and radio talk
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like gospel music and canned applause
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like colorful clothing in the sun
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I ilke hammering nails and speaking in tongues
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
[Chorus]
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget
Bend and shape me
I love the way you are
Slow and sweetly
Like never before
Calm and sleeping
We won't stir up the past
So descretely
We won't look back
[Chorus]
The things that I've loved the things that I've lost
The things I've held sacred that I've dropped
I won't lie no more you can bet
I don't want to learn what I'll need to forget
I like throwing my voice and breaking guitars
Cause it doesn't remind me of anything
I like playing in the sand what's mine is ours
If it doesn't remind me of anything
I highly recommend renting the DVD when it comes out.

"Breathe Me" - Sia
Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around
since I was born.
And now it's all right. It's OK.
And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand
the New York Times' effect on man.
Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother,
you're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin',
and we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.
Well now, I get low and I get high,
and if I can't get either, I really try.
Got the wings of heaven on my shoes.
I'm a dancin' man and I just can't lose.
You know it's all right. It's OK.
I'll live to see another day.
Life goin' nowhere. Somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah.
Life goin' nowhere. Somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah. Stayin' alive.
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk.
Music loud and women warm,
I've been kicked around since I was born.
And now it's all right. It's OK.

Somebody help me, yeah.
Life goin' nowhere. Somebody help me, yeah.
I'm stayin' alive.
Down at a place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lu
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who.
He said, "Hey there fellow,
With the hair colored yellow,
Watcha tryin' to prove?
'Cause that's my woman there
And I'm a man who cares
And this might be all for you."
I was scared and fearing for my life.
I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree.
'Cause he was lean and mean,
Big and bad, Lord,
Pointin' that gun at me.
I said, "Wait a minute, mister,
I didn't even kiss her.
Don't want no trouble with you.
And I know you don't owe me
But I wish you'd let me
Ask one favor from you."
"Won't you give me three steps,
Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps
Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more."
Well the crowd cleared away
And I began to pray
And the water fell on the floor.
And I'm telling you son,
Well, it ain't no fun
To be lookin' at a forty-four.
Well he turned and screamed at Linda Lu
And that's the break I was looking for.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away
As I was headed out towards the door.
"Won't you give me three steps,
Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps
Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more."
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy.
With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconson
As the big freighters go it was bigger than most
With a crew and the Captain well seasoned.
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ships bell rang
Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling.
The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the Captain did, too,
T'was the witch of November come stealing.
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashing
When afternoon came it was freezing rain
In the face of a hurricane West Wind
When supper time came the old cook came on deck
Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya
At 7PM a main hatchway caved in
He said fellas it's been good to know ya.
The Captain wired in he had water coming in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went out of sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When the words turn the minutes to hours
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd fifteen more miles behind her.
They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters.
Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the ruins of her ice water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams,
The islands and bays are for sportsmen.
And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered.
In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they say, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.
Got in my car and turned the key,
Then I called outta work and I went back to bed,
Because the needle was on "E".
I can't afford my gasoline.
The prices have become obscene.
They're up 5 cents a day. Who has that kind of green?
I can't afford my gasoline.
I've got a friend who bought a hummer, (hum v yeah)
One of those gigantic trucks, (he don't give a... darn)
But he can't drive since he maxed out his credit cards, (tough for him)
Because his mileage really sucks. (six whole miles)
He can't afford his gasoline.
The prices have become obscene.
Too bad he had to buy that gas guzzling machine.
He can't afford his gasoline.
Who are the people making money (stack them chips)
While the rest of us are hurtin? (choose gas or food)
Big oil companies, their shareholders, and friends (scratch my back)
Go ask those guys at Haliburton (I'll scratch yours)
We can't afford our gasoline.
The prices have become obscene.
Unleaded regular, forget about supreme.
We can't afford our gasoline.
We can't afford our gasoline.
The prices have become obscene.
You'll get screwed at the pump, so bring your vaseline.
We can't afford our gasoline.
"That hybrid car doesn't seem so queer after all..."
I passed one on the way home last week and I stopped myself from my normal giggle when I passed one and felt like I was the dumb guy on Jeopardy. The dude had the biggest smile. I'm sure he was eating it all up. I would be.

The only two seater hybrid available for purchase is the Honda Insight. It has recently been positioned as one of the most affordable hybrid cars available for sale, prices under $20,000. The Insight is an extremely eco-friendly car, but its main function is to provide high fuel economy. It has met this goal with success, as the Insight has been awarded the highest EPA rated fuel economy of any passenger automobile available on the market, since its introduction.
It is ugly though.
Here Here
I'm sure it's a two seater too
Don't ask if it's under 20k tho :goofy:
