hearing that a cousin, on my dads side (one of only 3, counting my sister and myself... big difference from my moms side) found out that his wife is pregnant, yesterday.
he's currently doing work in the oil industry over in Africa.... working there for 30 days at a time, then home in Texas for 30 days, then back, etc.....
Gin, Fresh Sage, raw sugar, Lime Juice and = parts ginger ale and club soda (this is especially good with junipero gin)
Muddle the sage with the raw sugar and lime juice, add the gin - shake with a few ice cubes to really mix it all up - pour over ice (muddled sage included) and then add equal parts gingerale and club. mmmm
Pear Rosemary Martini
Vodka, Poire William Pear Brandy shaken with ice and 2 springs or rosemary - strain into 'tini glass and garnish with a small rosemary spring.
funny. I'm staying with a friend who lives in St. Paul I think.
I'm just trying to decide if I'm going to need a car for the entire time or not. I'm ok driving during the day, but after my little accident out here a few years ago when I drove into a mountain after sliding on ice - night driving in cold weather freaks me out a bit.
have no frequent flyer miles.. until last year I never flew anywhere if I could help it.
I'll check those two out ares. I just looked at Dollar.Com and the Compact is like $536 for 2 weeks, unlimited milage. That doesn't seem too bad. But I want to check some more.
Here is my info - fly in Thursday the 25 @ 6 am. Fly out Tuesday the 6th at 9 pm.
I don't actually use them here either (I have 4 wheel drive) for that one night a year we go up to get the snow for the kiddies on Xmas Eve.
But seriously, in 2000, I was driving home the night before thanksgiving, and I went to take the short cut over the mountain about 3 hours later than I usually took it on my way home from work, and hit a patch of black ice in my 4x4. I had 2 choices - drive face first into the mountain, or go over a 400 foot cliff.
I picked the mountain, and wrecked the front of the truck pretty good - walked away with a broken finger nail, and a fat lip from the air bag though. But scared myself pretty darn good.
If you could put a BP cuff on me and let me drive in snow - my BP would prolly quadrulple. So this is soo going to be a learning experience.
friends who have faith in my ability to react quickly to, and know absolutely how to get out of almost any "situation" - like what happened less than an hour ago.
having mad driving skills... and those same friends, having faith in that fact as well.
Going to the 28 annual Turkey trot bowling (been to almost all of them) and getting a 125, 128, 119 not bad for moon light bowling when stuffed on turkey and drunk on wine.....
and my oldest daughter got engaged last night - OMG!

BUT I THOUGHT THE HOUSING MARKET WENT DOWN??
Fly in Jan 25th, and out the 5th or 6th. I'm going to try to book it by Friday. I just need to put a few more ducks in a row before I can.
Trying to decide if I need to rent a car for the whole time or part of the time or??

no matter how big of a truck you have, and how far you think they might fly - crashes with porta-potties are definately not reccomended.
Does anyone know of a good deal on rentacars?
check on orbitz first for the cheapest. then rent direct to get your frequent flyer miles for the rental

Maybe leave it in my cooler chick thread so I can reference it?
pretty pretty please?
xo
I just scored an OutBack with unlimited mileage for $330.93 for my entire trip!!
do any of you think I should get chains?
I'm actually just freaked in general about driving in snow. It's been a long time since I've driven in yuck (other than rain)
I'll get the hang of it - if not, I'll be the person doing like 20 down the road. heh.
Atleast thats what the chick at Toys R Us told me, like 10 years ago, when I bought it.
I wouldn't want record temps every year but this is OK for this year. We'll probably get dumped on next year because of it.
I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF I "ENJOY" THIS...BUT ITS KINDA DIFFERENT...

Last year when I went on the snow run, I wore jeans and long johns which were fine until they shoved me in the snow.
eh. it happens.
Como Zoo being almost empty right now, when I was out there....
I love having that place to myself...
the new rain-forest thing inside the new visitors center is now open.... it was 80 degrees in there today...
the wolves were out again too.... that makes it twice within a couple of months that I've seen them...
thats gotta be a record or something.
side note, for anyone who wants to go.... they're on their winter hours now...
OMG...I'M GOING TO BE WORKING MY ASS OFF...BUT WOW...BIGTIME COOL!!!
SERIOUSLY...I'M BLOWN AWAY BY ALL OF THIS...ITS GOING TO BE A GOOD 'RIDE' FOR A WHILE I THINK
HOPE ALL THIS COMES TRUE IN THE NEXT MONTH OR SO...'THEY' ARE WORKING ON ALL OF IT NOW...(CONTRACTS ETC.)
Thanks all - saw him last night & today, what a joy.
having mad driving skills... and those same friends, having faith in that fact as well.
barely escaping action with some ho-cakes.
having time to "celebrate", before coming home.
a decent pay-off and a nice reward to go with it.
Maybe I'll ask kitch.
