Do you mean 36 as in the highway? While that would be true, it wouldn't lend any meaning to the second line. In my mind, "the ones" are Winter Carnivals and "had these" refers to ice palaces. But if it is referring to a road number, then I assume "the ones" would still be Winter Carnivals, but would would they have 35 or 36 of?

I think a royal boarder is just someone who lives in a palace.

Not sure what "Royal Boarder" is suggesting- i looked at u.s. Olympic snow boarding team and no one from MN is on it.

The thing about the 1/4 is that 35 is *exactly* 1/4 of 140 and the clue says *roughly*. It also leaves the second line not making much sense. But 43 is (very) roughly 1/4 of 140 and there have been 43 Winter Carnivals that have had an ice palace.

I think the trashmen song still fits  - the yard waste site in just down the hill. Though I might have some personal  issues calling yard waste trash.
35 being in proximity and being 1/4 of 140 works too.
I’m sure it won’t be referenced in a clue  since the news is quite fresh (days) but the nearby Pleasant Ice Arena - so named for the remnant of the road 35E mostly took over- will be shuttering in June. Home of the St Paul Figure Skating Club they have had international success tho mostly in years past. Most of my kids learned to ice skate there will be sad to see it go.

If it's in my last years Red Herring, of LINWOOD, I will go nuts, but Victoria runs into it off of St Clair, but the pickle ball courts are Not in Linwood but down the street a tad, but there are Tennis Courts. Como is also off Victoria. And just because I like Herring, I'll go 10 on Linwood...AGAIN cuz I;m nuts but so are the clue writers, right? LOL

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
