You know JT, I really believe that the 1st clue absolutely states not in St. Paul. The reference "We're back with Vulcan" means a Ramsey county parks. The 2nd clue teaches you how to figure it out. I think the "sublime a commemorative rhyme" and "third of it history a writer of mystery" The commemorative rhyme that sticks out the most is from the cooler crew "you dig?" We the treasure hunters are the history. We never know who a clue writer is until they pass away. Just so happens there is a list within the cooler crew website. All of our treasure hunt history. Nestled in one convenient spot. "Cheers the coming anniversary" means next year is the hunts 75th anniversary and so the reference is to a prior years hunt was also an anniversary that the clue writer is pointing to for reference. and this exact reference is shown by the "spun clues using sorcery" I also think "Sitting with pen musing all in ken" and "twigs and dolls fill the pages" points to a specific writer. I'm thinking "Mappy" because as he wrote his treasure hunters guide he uses "twigs and dolls with in the pages" as markers, notation and so on. "Mappy" would also be "sitting with pen musing all in ken" as he wrote his book. "The rhythm of the sages" also points to there being more than one wise man/woman. "Flashing demonic" I think states Vulcans hand gesture. Re enforcing the Vulcan (not in St. Paul) theory. "Pack you bags for riches to shag" interestingly enough a Shag can also mean (a western European and Mediterranean cormorant with greenish-black plumage and a long curly crest in the breeding season.) "No need to vandal to get a good handle" Did you know the vandals were a Germanic people that over threw Gaul, Spain, North Africa and sacked Rome. The story of the battle between winter and spring also happens to Germanic. some good handles may include "Snake" "Brass" "Mappy" "Cluey" "AllisonWonderland" "Snowflake" and what are all of us considered Vandals. Because we a a group of treasure hunters are to follow these simple rules Search, Don't Destroy! And may Cooler Heads prevail!

A stretch today's clue: could the last two lines translate into 'look for a "spring"'?   The bird known for the word -> Father  Lucien Galtier   He hailed from Saint-Affrique, on the river Sorgue   Sorgue -> "spring"

Yes, technically it is all part of the Phalen - Keller Regional Park System. It’s all kind of connected, right?  But I guess separated too. Hmmm. So I guess I am 10 for Phalen.  But am intrigued by Pig’s Eye.
With Pigs Eye would there be any controversy with the land like when it was in the former Bruce Vento park? I know part of it  is closer to Wakkan Tipi Cave. Maybe it would be in the other part. It is a strange park/lake because of the old landfill.   Growing up down 61 from there, at times when the wind shifted it was sure smelly.

Isn't there  a pump house in Phalen park the  for the waterfall in the wooded area between round lake and phalen lake? Pumps that can handle that type of flow from the lake are called trash pumps.....probably a far stretch but I think it's in that area

Is Round Lake a park? I thought it was just part of Phalen?
I believe the Trashmen is probably correct, so I guess we're looking for something "trashy". Could be anything from a landfill to a garbage can. Or both even.

Put me down for 5 for Phelan and 5 for Round Lake. I don't know how I forgot about Robert Frost's poem, fire and ice where it says, "Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice.....I hold with those who favor fire". The first clue where "we're back with Vulcan." Of course, Frost Ave. is right there. Happy Hunting, everyone. Time to get bundled up.

On one hand: contortion -> Suni Lee and bunker -> phelan
On another - “Bird is the word” is the popular lyrics to “Surfin Bird” by MN band “the trashmen” .
“catch a break” from a previous clue could also refer to surfing - catching the break of a wave.
The Trashemen to me might refer to a park that was a landfill -> Pigs Eye Lake.

Owl. Who...Who hailed from this waterway? Edward Phalen or Pigs Eye. Bunkerish is also a golf reference, which puts me at Phalen. The "cabins" that used to be at Phalen had canvas tops that looked very militray.  I hope the explinations for clues this year aren't as bad as last year.  Could all mean something so far stretched I would never guess it.

I'm Sending positive vibes to your girlfriend and yourself. The Care giver role is very hard and often stressful "holding it all together". Breathe. Use this time while she gets a higher level of care to be gentle on yourself spend time resting, decompressing. You've got this!

Clue # 4 You know this is the time I begin to pivot. Somethings stand out so much after others input. "No need to Vandal to have a good handle" and "Sublime a commemorative rhyme". I think about the Cooler Crew and their "You dig" commemorative rhyme. I think about what a great resource of writers there are within the site https://coolercrew.com/ When the clue that refers to "your tracks spin and spin" Wheel Lock for sure. Phalen here I come. Check out the history on the Phalen Hunts. I was thinking the year of the Racoon.    Pack= a small cardboard or paper container and the items contained with in them         = a group of wild animals, especially wolves, living and hunting together Bag= a knapsack or backpack of flexible material with an opening at the top used for carrying things       = ones particular taste or interest       =A woman, especially older, perceived as unattractive Shag= A Carpet or rug with long rough pile         = A thick tangled hairstyle or mass of hair         = A course kind of tobacco         = To have sexual intercourse with Vandal= A person who deliberately destroys or damages public property            = A member of a Germanic people that ravaged Gaul, Spain, North Africa in the 4-5th century and sacked Rome in 455 AD Handle= Feel or manipulate with the hands             = Manager a situation or problem             = The part by which something is being held, carried or controlled Quest= Long arduous search for something

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
