Re: 2025 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt Clue #2

I looked on the Wikipedia page (which does not look to have been edited in the last day) and the lyrics there are different and much closer to the clue:   Over hill, over dale,
We will hit the dusty trail,
And those Caissons go rolling along.

In and out, hear them shout!
Counter marching all about,
And those Caissons go rolling along,

For it's high high he,
In the Field Artillery,
Shout out your "No" [numbers] loud and strong,

For wher-e’er we go,
You will always know,
That those Caissons go rolling along.   So they had the US Field Artillery song in mind, clearly. There used to be an artillery gun on 36 at North St. Paul. There is the armory in Arden Hills.    Sousa had some interesting Minnesota connections, though I am not sure any are relevant here.   https://www.yourclassical.org/story/2018/06/20/john-philip-sousa-connection-to-minnesota

Bald Eagle 10
Bald Eagle Regional Park – 34th Infantry (Red Bull) division highway leads to it.  Their song: March of Red Bull -"When you're a proud, proud Red Bull Soldier, Shout It long and loud with pride; With that Red Bull on your shoulder, You will turn the battle ...
Also - Ash St. connects Co J to Centerville Rd. The Bald Eagle just became the National Bird too so that made me think of Bald Eagle Regional Park
Happy hunting everyone!   Jone

The original Army Song
Over hill, over dale, we have hit the dusty trail, and those caissons go rolling along.
"Counter march! Right about!"
hear those wagon soldiers shout,
while those caissons go rolling along.
For it's "Hi! Hi! Hee!" in the Field Artillery,
Call off your numbers loud and strong.
And where e'er we go you will always know
that those caissons go rolling along.

To the front, day and night where the doughboys dig and fight
and those caissons go rolling along.
Our barrage will be fired on the rockets flare
while those caissons go rolling along.
For it's "Hi! Hi! Hee!" in the Field Artillery,
Call off your numbers loud and strong.
And where e'er we go you will always
know that those caissons go rolling along.

With the cav'lry, boot to boot we will join in the pursuit
and those caissons go rolling along.
Action front, at a trot, volley fire with shell and shot
while those caissons go rolling along.
For it's "Hi! Hi! Hee!" in the Field Artillery,
Call off your numbers loud and strong.
And where e'er we go you will always know
that those caissons go rolling along.

Should the foe penetrate, ev'ry gunner lies in wait
and those caissons go rolling along.
Fire at will, lay 'em low, never stop for any foe
while those caissons go rolling along.
For it's "Hi! Hi! Hee!" in the Field Artillery,
Call off your numbers loud and strong.
And where e'er we go you will always know
that those caissons go rolling along.

But if fate me should call, and in action I should fall
keep those caissons go rolling along.
Then in peace I'll abide when I take my final ride
on a caisson that's rolling along.
For it's "Hi! Hi! Hee!" in the Field Artillery
Call off your numbers loud and strong.
And where e'er we go you will always know

that those caissons go rolling along.
2 Thoughts, Calvary Cemetary is on Front Street, Between Dale and Lexington. Where does that lead us?

I'm also considering Cherokee lower on my list. There is (or was?) the Bruce Vento Overlook down on the South end. The city hills are glowin could just refer to the view of the city across the river that you get at night.

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
