2026 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt Clue #6

2 months 1 week ago

I was so busy thinking about the new clue, I forgot to post it!

Clue #6

This is the year we hid it here

Where it was once said to have lain

In the woods by the lake you may catch a break

That may end in a toast of champagne

And the previous clues:

Clue #5

The prize is massive so don’t be passive

Or let your tracks spin and spin

If you earn your due be it not lost on you

That someday you’ll land the win.

Clue #4

Pack your bag for riches to shag

The game demands your best

No need to be vandal to get a good handle

On how to fulfill your quest

Clue #3

Sitting with pen musing all in ken

Twigs and dolls filled the pages

A flashing demonic offered tonic,

The rhythm of the sages

Clue #2

For this hunt sublime a commemorative rhyme

Cheers the coming anniversary

A third of its history a writer of mystery

Has spun clues using sorcery

Clue #1

Welcome King Boreas, your swag so notorious

It's part of the mythic lore

No need for sulkin we're back with Vulcan

In time for seven score

Due be = Doobie Brothers Record/ CD?!?
Play on Shakespeare= due be or not to be
Close to a dispensary/cannabis store
County Road B E
Also, I thought what if it is hidden in a library which is a public place? It's so cold, I have half a mind to just check it out. Okay, I might watch too much National Treasure. I entertained the idea, it would be massive, but I don't think that would be a good idea. But again, seriously. Could it be in a library?🤣
I liked back in the day when the first clue laid out the rules. I knew I was looking for a park in Ramsey County.
I can't find the anagram, so I got nothing other than this! 😂

Clue# 3 Back at it again now. So I want to go over Clue 3 again. The phrase that sticks out the most is (A flashing demonic offered tonic) I was thinking about the had gesture the Vulcans do. The (V) Also known as the peace sign for regular life. For a while there I was thinking there may be an anagram in that clue. I am no good at anagrams. There definitely is a writer we need to be looking at. Second reference to writing (Sitting with pen musing all in ken) This person knows lots either a clue writer or a person highly involved in writing something connected to the WC or the hunt. (The rhythm of the sages) makes me believe it would be multiple people involved in one writing. Which brings me back to the deceased clue writers. I also want to make note the heavy reference point to our Vulcans. Did you know there was a minor league hockey team called the St. Paul Vulcans later the Twin Cities Vulcans from 1973-2000. They used 5 rink locations total. 2 of which are located in St. Paul/Maplewood. Aldrich Arena (Goodrich Park) and the other was called Wakota Arena located in South St. Paul. This is very close to out of bounds. I guess this arena is closed forever but is now called the Doug Woog Arena which is a little further down the map and I think it is definitely out of bounds. As for Goodrich Park did you know N St. Paul Road and Seventh are one at this park. Thought of Seven score. I think (Twigs and Dolls filled the pages) Tells us what it is hidden in or what writing reference we are looking for. Did you know there are over 180 parks in St. Paul alone. https://www.stpaul.gov/departments/parks-and-recreation/parks/parks-z   Musing= A period of reflection or thought             = To be absorbed in thought Ken= One's range of knowledge or sight Twig= A slender woody shoot growing from a branch or stem or tree or shrub        = Understanding or realizing something Doll= A small model of a human figure, typically one of a baby or girl, used as a child's toy Flashing= Shining a bright but brief, sudden or intermittent way              = The act of showing one's genitals briefly in public Demonic= Of resembling or characterized of demons or evil spirits               = Fiercely energetic or frenzied Tonic= A medical substance taken to give vigor or well being          = The first note in a scale, in conventional harmony, provides a keynote of a piece of music Sages= A plant           = A profoundly wise man, especially one who features in history or legend "Flashing Demonic"= Could refer to the sign of the horns performed (maybe the Vulcans (V) hand sign)

My first thought was maybe it’s a “hidden in” clue and the prize is literally massive. Don’t let your tracks spin and spin suggesting ice. I like the train tracks idea though.

David, I was looking into the word land as well. That could go along with the south side of phalen, being by Maryland ave.

I apologize for the poor formatting of the clue. I was trying to copy and paste the previous clues from an email on my phone and it just didn't work that well. I'm hoping to be at Shamrocks again tonight so I hope to again post the clue early.
So don't be passive would suggest being active. That could mean a park with sporting fields or maybe even a rec center. I think the tracks could be a reference to train tracks. This is the second reference they have made to spinning. Maybe the medallion is hidden with a CD or something else that spins. Or maybe it is near something circular that you can travel on like a circular driveway.
The third line is phrased strangely suggesting there is something deliberate going on. I'm pretty confident it was in order to put the words "due be" next to each other. I also think "lost" is a clue. I feel like "land" is also, but I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet.

See, I told you I could make any park fit the clues! 🤣 Seriously tho, anyone else on this vibe?

The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.
