I think you're onto something there Ben. I didn't want it to be at Phalen because one of my Winter Carnival Scavenger Hunts is there, but it may well be. It's hard to argue against Clue 7 being about Ed Phelen now that I'm more familiar with the story. I was kind of thinking there on the chain clue as it is part of a chain of lakes, but Como was sounding better. I don't like how it fits some of the clues compared to other parks, but really, that's been a running theme for years now. Johnson High School is nearby. Some of the street names seem to fit. Maybe the Sidewalks of New York thing just means it is near a path?

Subject: Re: [theallisonwonderland] PP Medallion Hunt - Clue #8   Sorry to hear this secretrose. That's gotta suck. I wonder if the Pavilion has a camera that caught the break-in on your car. So sorry it ruined your day and your hunt. Best of luck with the repairs. Hope your insurance covers most of it.

Oh that is just terrible Rose...awful greedy selfish people. God please hold them accountable and teach them your ways as we try and move on with life.

Well...sadly had to look at clues, but I had a Smash and Grab on my SUV yesterday at the Como Lakeside Pavilion. I had most of my valuables on me when I ran to the restroom under building for about 4 minutes. It was around 3:45 pm, lots of people walking and parking their cars and not secluded. Someone smashed my window and grabbed my purse with, medicine, clues, makeup and assorted items in a bigger, hidden bag in back. I had it so one could barely see it behind the dark glass, but someone smashed the window and grabbed it. Than I had to make and fill out police, insurance claims after finding a auto store with plastic for window so I could drive my long drive home to the southern burbs. Now I found out it is 8 days to get it repaired. I am rather upset. I will not go on the freeway or take a chance hunting with plastic on a window. This thief cost me the medallion hunt, the repair is costly even with insurance and most of all made me even think twice about ever hunting again. Good grief this was one of the safer spots at Como Park with all the activity and not secluded at all and plenty of daytime sun. I have been to much more shady spots in past years! I am so frustrated and angry!!! Looks like I will miss the rehash also unless glass repair shops can slip me in. Anyways...I would be digging at Central today if this had not happened to my car. I hope one of you finds it also! Goodluck!

I saw someone post some where that they thought Bomb Cyclone (BC) was referring to Battle Creek. If you use that mentality, Central Park is between Co Rd B2 and Co Rd C. Just a thought.

In my mind, this has always been a dual hunt between two parks: Como and Phalen.

If we return to Clue 1: "these rhymes" refer to "Take a break" from Hamilton. Looking at the lyrics for that song we see:
"There's a lake I know
I know
In a nearby park
I'd love to go
You and I can go when the night gets dark
I will try to get away"

This would narrow it down to three parks nearby with lakes: Como, Phalen and Crosby, however, if we look more deeply into the clue, we see specific references to Como and Phalen:
Battle (Midway): Possible reference to Midway Parkway (Como) or the 45th Parallel (Phelan)
Follow your muse: Hamilton/Hamline (Como) or Frost Ave or Poetry Park (Phelan)

These parallels continue through many of the clues.

I agree! Those early clues were trying to get people to the right park (or trip us up).  The use or non-use of commas in all of the clues is interesting. People always use commas wrong so that is an interesting little piece that you noticed. I think the clues of the streets are now bringing us to the piece of Central Park that is between Lexington (battle) and Victoria (Queen).  Is the North piece of clue 8 giving us the part of the park?  The North area is ball fields and a lake then further down is the parking lot with the spaceship and playground area.

Clue #8
Not with cape, but maybe rake, A hero, by another name, With studious guys, searched for the prize
And up north the puck did claim.
You are right - there are strange pauses in this clue. A comma is used to separate ideas or clauses. Are these pieces all separate and not as related as they seem?
