Hi guys! Cool, you have your own thread. Just found it today (the thread not the medallion).
SNOW DAY!
yesterday would have been a great day to hide whatever you are going to hide for your hunt. Look forward to it. Are you gonna post clues on this sight or somewhere else?
When the last hunt ended so early, and everyone was upset about it, she was quoted as asking, "What can we do?" meaning what can the paper do differently to not have such a short hunt? jake had talked about coming up with a letter of suggestions to send to her, but I don't know if he ever did. But if we don't want a repeat of last year, I suggest we not forget about doing so just because some time has gone by.
1.\09One clue will be issued at midnight each night, with a total of 12 clues. If the treasure is not found within 24 hours of the final clue, an additional clue may be written to help hunters. (highly unlikely) 2.\09When attempting to determine the location of the treasure, remember that this hunt is patterned after the Winter Carnival Hunt. 3.\09If you contact the Medallionators before the end of the hunt (don’t call or email unless you find it or think you have found it) you will not be eligible to claim the prize. 4.\09There have been many questions as to what you are looking for, and my only answer to that is that you will know immediately that you have found the treasure. I can say that the treasure is about 1 ¾ inches in diameter. 5.\09You will not need to dig into the ground, prod, or damage property in order to find the treasure.
Note the Medallionators are one for one But now its time for the rest to have some fun Make sure you pick your most favorite park Because if you don’t, you will be in the dark.
Hey hey hey its verse number two And the next two lines are important to you If you don’t like music take a hike Because you have to remember that Life is Like.

How about just a park that is well liked and well lit for relaxation and ease with walking pathes away from a noisy place - a place to just watch life pass you by --Harriet Island :)

Probably doesn't mean anything unless perhaps most favorite park is an allusion to something like Como.
Hey hey hey its verse number two And the next two lines are important to you If you don't like music take a hike Because you have to remember that Life Is Like
The third line could refer to something like Como or Lake Harriet or even Harriet Island where they have places for people to play music, but if you don't want to listen, you could go for a walk around the lake or along the river. Not sure what "Like Is Like" might refer to. Maybe some song I'm not familiar with? I've been pretty busy the last 24 hours and haven't had a whole lot of time to think about it yet.
Mike and Don Madland of Medallionator fame have purchased, for the winner of this hunt, a $50 gift certificate to Bugg's Bar and Bugg's Eatery!! Clue to come shortly..........
So---this hunt is modeled after the St Paul Winter Carnival Hunt---so everyone know what that means? HARRIET IS OFF LIMITS!
I dont think so me2 he would say hariet is off limits in his rules
and look forward to hariet not being on the rules this next year for pp hunt

oh, the things that go on in this brain.
hey, i'm getting pretty good at this noodling stuff :)
Noodling will do that to a brain!
I tend to agree Ares, don't know why Marley likes IM and Cherokee.
If its in the Suburbs, theres TSP, BC, and maybe Keller
If its in the city, theres Como, Phalen, Highland, Marydale, Hidden, Crosby, Harriet Island and again BC
So did you guys ever write that letter to Carolyn Robertson? If not, maybe we should draft one up in here as a group.
Who's Carolyn Robertson?
Mr. News' mother?
She's the promotions director at the Pioneer Press and thus, in essence, in charge of the hunt since it is a PP promotion.
Why would we contact her?

<edit>
Hmm, theres this
Life is like a park
Seesaws, merry-go-rounds
And though you may swing high
Hmm I found 34 songs with the phrase "Life is like" in it, one also has the word "Hey" in it 3 times. ;)
...the beat goes on
Wow who is this Artemis girl??
Sounds to me like its at Hariet in a small chocolate box.
Or not!
hmm. most favorite park. gotta be como. as long as its not at phalen where i risk being spotted by someone i know again. lol!
either that or he's being sarcastic and its at marry-em.
x-post with marley.
Goodmoring - taking it all in.
Good work Artemis, now I'll see what theories I can come up with to help.
The post #'s 19 & 20 are good ones for me-we'll see how this pans out :)

The only thing I get so far:
The Band had a song called "Life Is A Carnival", but Jake wouldn't know that one.
If you don't like music take a hike
too obvious ? Where's my park guide ?
<http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/Parks/maps/>
<http://www.stpaul.gov/depts/parks/?loc=/depts/parks/userguide/index.html>

Life is like a box of chocolates - Forrest Gump. It's the first thing that came to mind.
The fact that all three words are capitalized could mean something here. LIL?

Look for a place with lots to do
Even more than the average park
And if history serves you well
Your prize will make you bark.
More information jedi awaits!
Hariet or Como seem like the obvious so far!
Sounds like a big park, possibly one where it's been before. Actually there are a lot of different ways to take this clue.
But I know this treasure hunting and Nothing is obvious!
Como & Harriet :) COMO COMO COMO
Nothing is obvious
& then again ...Everything is obvious :)
Medallionators Clue #2 states...
2. When attempting to determine the location of the treasure, remember that this hunt is patterned after the Winter Carnival Hunt.
So---this hunt is modeled after the St Paul Winter Carnival Hunt---so everyone know what that means? HARRIET IS OFF LIMITS!
Hey hey hey Ian---nice picture! ::pixie dustfor you:: :)
i thought you only gave your pixie dust to me.
:: jealous ::
nice observation about harriet too. i personally like como anyway.
Ian gets it for bravery! That is sexy in a man.
He posted a photo of himself! Where's your photo of you at a recent wedding, eh?
uh, does "i don't have the permission of the other 4 people in the picture to post it in a public area" work for an excuse?
So---this hunt is modeled after the St Paul Winter Carnival Hunt---so everyone know what that means? HARRIET IS OFF LIMITS!

Remember Aw's! same!
But he didn't post rules specifically---just some of them--- So if he uses the Carnival Rules and Regs than he wouldn't have to type them all out-
maybe he is thinking we all have common sense :)
using the existing rules and regs does make his job a lot easier.
Does one of the favored parks have an off-leash dog running area?
Does one of the favored parks have an off-leash dog running area?
not that I can think of but Como has the dog pound/humane society
O- that's right. By McMurray field, where I spent too much time looking one year :p
Battle Creek has one, listed as Maplewood, technically. Arlington/Arkwright has a big one, too. Bark.
