Yea, it's a good thing that the Democrats don't use sleazy tactics. What beacons of morality and ethics they are.

Well, we might not be able to hold ourselves to the sainted Moral Elite that makes up the Republican Party. Not quite as polished I guess.

Won't find Gary Bauer and Jerry Falwell running to our side.

True but you've got the minions and elitists in Hollywood to do that.

Of course you also have besides the socialists.
Luther/Garst. Harkin, Torricelli to show us how to run a good campagin.

Buck Humphrey was not convicted of DWI. It's not the same type of deal.

That's just silly.

Why the punishment if there was nothing to it?

LUV,

I was wondering when Luther would be brought up here.

I'm sure there's a perfectly acceptable explanation though.

I mean, there was never a conviction, was there?

Anyone here about what happened in Coates and the strip bar with 94 voters using it as their place of residence?

link

They got 95 people in a town of 163. This would let them decide the local government which of course would be on their side of things.

A Democrat majority, I'm sure.

There's probably some guys who were in that club enough to establish residency.

A Democrat majority, I'm sure.

Doesn't really matter. The point is, that there's voter fraud going on. And not one single vote has been cast yet.

From the link:
His attorney, Randall Tigue, said under Minnesota law county auditors are supposed to notify people believed to be registered improperly. It's fraud only if those people then try to vote.

Oooops, no crime, no conviction. No problems here. Nothing improper. Move along, move along......

Judging by the names and birthdates, a lot of them must have been dancers at the club.

Expect blanket coverage of the perp walks, and "team reports" in local media.

That little bar seems to get a lot of coverage. I've seen stories about it before.

If it stays closed there'll be some sad faces among the guys who work a the the Koch Refinery.

Fri, 10/18/2002 - 9:07 AM Permalink

I don't know if he was kidding, but there was a guy in my fishing club who said he was going there because the place had the reputations of the "longest lap dance" in the Metro area.

I guess that alone couldn't keep the place open.

Fri, 10/18/2002 - 9:21 AM Permalink
THX 1138

Oh God!

That makes me shudder.

I've never been to a place like that.

I was curious when I was younger but today, no thanks.

What I don't get is how women can do that, especially something like a lap dance. The thought of rubbing up against some stranger gives me the creeps, I don't care how much money you'd pay me (not that anyone would pay to have me rub up against them).

Fri, 10/18/2002 - 9:23 AM Permalink

Evidently some dancers must have some problems with it, or else customers wouldn't leave feeling short-changed. There wouldn't be a club marketing itself has having the longest lap dance.

THX 1138

....wouldn't leave feeling short changed.

That's funny.

I didn't even know lap dances were legal in MN.

There's women's groups out there on both sides of this issue. There's those that believe women need protecting and there's those that believe it's a woman's body to do with as she pleases.

I wonder what NOW's stance is on the issue?

btw: If I went to one of those places, my wife would kill me.

Now as to being "convicted" of a DWI, hell nowadays (Late '80s early to mid '90s) Anyone could get out of a DWI if you knew the right people. A guy I used to play softball w/ had 12. The most he ever did was 3 months in the clink and allowed to leave on the weekends to "work" (wink wink) You can't tell me that the name of Humphery just like Kennedy, Clinton, Bush, Reagan wouldn't get a turn of the head when approached for a violation. Also remember that some who are guilty are let go due to technicalities, and some who are innocent are imprisioned.

It was the cleanest of the strip clubs and had the hottest dancers. They definately make a few bucks in there. $5 to get in the door. $4.50 for a non-alcoholic beverage. $20 for a couch dance (one song in length). $140 for a VIP couch dance (30 minutes in the VIP room). $140 for a VIP bed dance (20 minutes in the VIP bed). $6 surcharge at the ATM for a maximum withdrawl of $100. Drop a few bucks on the tip rails for stage dances. Next thing you know...the wallet is empty. Of course, I've never been in there. :)

Warning: don't open this site in front of the kids!

Some guy who went there all the time is probably looking at the names going...I don't recognize any of them. I mean there's no Crystal, Bambi, Wildcat, Sapphire anywhere on that list well at least I thought that was their real name.

Strip clubs are actually depressing to me. I always feel bad for the dancers. Yea yea I know, every one of them will tell you they are working their way through college. They make a ton of money but I can't imagine having alot of self respect when you come home at night. Maybe they do or get over it when they count the money I don't know but I don't like going into them. The only times I really was is for bachelor parties and some when I was overseas.

I will say this though, the strip clubs anywhere in this country are damn near Walt Disney compared to some in other countries. There were things there that would make most blush.

I knew one stripper in my life. She was the sister of a friend. She had no problem with stripping at all.

A funny story.

It was my best friends bachelor party many moons ago. I was kind of in charge of babysitting this group of 20 or so drunks since I was his best man. I rented a coach bus and we decided to start the night off at the Lamplighter or as most refer to it, the limplifter.

I went in to see if I could get the cover charge waived since we had a large group. As I was bargaining with the mountain of a man I glanced up on stage. There in all her glory was my best friends sister, yea, the same guy whose bachelor party it was. I couldn't believe it. I had known her my whole life and she was like a sister to me too. I was turning around to get back on the bus and telling the driver to get us the hell out of there.

Too late my friend had already made his way inside. I told him we needed to leave and in a hurry. He started asking why and I said, trust me I'll tell you later. Well by now the whole group is inside and it's too late. Another guy immediatly recognizes his sister. He was stunned to say the least. Of course the rest of the guys being so sensitive gave him a ration of shit about it all night. We left right away but the damage was done. It was certainly a night i'll never forget. :)

We'd rather see Scribe dancing on ice, not on a stage. And she needs to stick to the pretty pink suits, not the birthday suits. Not because she doesn't have the body, just because that would make things strange. Yeah. So I'm going to shut up now before I lose too many points...

What ares said. Regardless of looks, I'd be more comfortable seeing a dude's sister naked than his significant other. Unless it was that kinda relationship, I guess. Even then, I'd feel like I was stepping over a line. Not so with sisters. Sisters are just women to everyone else. Odds are, most women I check out are sisters to someone...I've got no problem with that. :-)

LOL! I wouldn't do anything to you. You'd be innocent in the matter.

Odds are, most women I check out are sisters to someone.

You got a point there. I'd have to rethink this. I guess it depends on how well you know the person. If it was a good friend, most likely I know here well also. Then I think I'd rather see his sister than his wife.

i think the rules go something like this:

  • its never ok to see your friends sister on stage if your friend is her brother.
  • it may be acceptable to see her on stage if your friend is her sister
  • it is always acceptable to see a woman on stage if none of your friends are siblings of hers.

Dick Morris, a guy whose opinion I trust because he's so mercenery, said last night on Hannity and Colmes that if the election were held today, Democrats would take both houses of Congress.

Morris said Senate elections moved the Democrats' way over the week in New Hampshire, Missouri and Minnesota. He seemed to think this signalled an electorate that is starting to break in traditional party allegances.

This is almost funny, sad, but funny.

The Strib editorial board is headed left of the far left that they already are. In there endorsement of a ......gulp.......Greenie for Sec. of State they are opposing Mary Kiffmeyer who is a Republican. (gee there's a shock)

Here's why.

In one term, Republican Kiffmeyer, 55, has exhibited partisanship in the promotion of precinct caucuses and an unwarranted fixation on preventing election fraud. When faced with only the threat of a budget cut last winter, she abruptly cut her office's public service hours in half for four weeks. Her proposal to require that voters show an ID card in order to vote would disenfranchise a few and inconvenience many.

Unwarranted fixation on voter fraud ? Well it's a big part of her job.
Having to show an I.D,,,,Gasp.
Yea we wouldn't want to inconvienence someone to show an I.D card of some sorts. I mean it's only our election and our future. Try that next time you write a check and tell them you're being inconvenienced. But oh no, we wouldn't want that.
What would we have next, free and true elections ? Golly, can't have that. Well they just want every vote to count, even the ones that shouldn't, as long as it's for their candidate. These people are insane.

I'd have to say that's a pretty stupid endorsement.

The Star Tribune is not the kind of paper you ought to depend on for much of anything. So I mostly ignore it. Which is too bad, because this city deserves a decent newspaper like anywhere else.

Maybe it's just my antipathy for the Green Party talkin'.

Tue, 10/22/2002 - 9:43 AM Permalink
Luv2Fly

I'd have to say that's a pretty stupid endorsement.

I would agree.

I would also say that their reasons for not endorsing Kiffmeyer are as well. They throw accusations out and offer nothing to back it up. Same with Buck Humphrey they feel he'd be better off running for the state senate or house. Well he's not guys. And there reasons for endorsing the greenie ? Very little...

Here's the editorial, I forgot to link it in my last post.

Hey!

I got a question.

If this Iraq vote was so critical before the election, why is the president seemingly on this endless Rubber Chicken Circuit raising money?

Shouldn't he be hunkered down with Cheney and his Generals, or twisting arms at the UN and abroad?

Could it be that he knows the Republicans are in a little more trouble than they say publically?

Brother Jeb has a 5 point lead in Florida, running against a political neophyte.

Guess I had more than one question.

Wed, 10/23/2002 - 7:54 AM Permalink
Luv2Fly

Rick,

Do you want answers to your questions or are you just being rhetorical ?

Yea we all know that a President can't do any work while campaiging. It's not like they have phones or anything. And I'm sure that we'd want our President dictating military strategy, it worked so well last time in Vietnam.

Who was the President that set records for campaigning ? I'll give you a hint. He's no longer president anymore.

Hmmm I wonder what Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell are doing ?
Probably hanging out with their new lefty buddy Harry Belafonte. Their all doing a calypso dance around Colin's desk sipping dark rum while the boss is out of town. Colin and Condi are kicking back I'm sure of it.

Guess you can't please people looking for a spin.

The vote in Congress is done. It was in all the papers, perhaps you saw it.

At first it was hey what's the rush, why now? Then it was hey, we need to be included on the vote you can't just send troops anywhere oh wait, you can if your our guy but we need to vote and the people need to be heard. Then it was hey, let's just put this little ol' vote off until after the election. Then it was hey, we know he's bad but why now ? Then it was o.k o.k your right, he's bad we agree let's go but then we were being unilateralist. So now we give the U.N more chances to do what it should have done years ago and they are wondering why we aren't acting faster. When if we did then we'd be back to being unilateralist. Next week he'll probably be back to acting too swiftly again. So please look at the calendar and decide which week will be which rant It's hard to keep them all straight after changing posisitions so much.

Meanwhile back at the U.N the larger coalition people are clamoring for can't decide what kind of juice should be served on the assembly floor. A vote on orange vs. tomato is expected to take place in early December if the permanent nations can agree with the general assembly as to the language of the resolution. France has called upon nations to not be too critical of orange juice since it's richness in vitamin C has many benefits. Kofi Annan is taking it under advisement.
