2003 Find The Golden Ticket!

Submitted by Artemis The Huntress on

Somewhere in the Twin Cities a Golden Twins Ticket has been hidden. Find it and you'll have a baseball fans dream season. Everyday through April 4th a clue will be printed in the Star and Tribune Sports section as to the whereabouts of this Golden Ticket.

The Prize: 2 2003 season tickets for the Minnesota Twins, meet the manager and throw out first pitch (and 4 VIP tickets) to BlueJays game April 5, 2 tickets to Las Vegas, Twins Jersey, memorobilia, and gift bag, Star and Tribune prize package.

Read the The Golden Twins Ticket Rules carefully, for you might even find a clue.

If you're looking to the sky wave bye-bye,
Although bird watching here is a big deal.
Hooligans to the north, south is yellow back & forth,
Making like A.J. never had more appeal.

Are the clues an irritation?
Cover them to get your destination.
Now that hint is worth alot.
Leave your shoes near by and look for giant bonsai,
Gold is what you've wrought.

Ok, ever since reading this thread title this morning, I've had the "Golden Ticket" song from Willy Wonka in my head!

'Cause I've got a golden ticket'

Cause I've got a golden ticket

I've got a golden chance to make my way

And with a golden ticket, it's a golden day

Someone please shoot me

and when you're done shooting him, please shoot me as well. cuz the same thing happened to me. i just assumed it was from the lottery commercial when the lottery ran that game instead of willy wonka.

I was singing the same tune---

as soon as I saw the thread I said "this is gonna be good" and began singing it as I opened the thread---I have the movie on DVD ;)

My first incling was near the airport - clue 2 sounds like airport too cause of the word destination.

So, Art? Is this the one you guys worked on with the S&T?
Whoever it was ---its very clever and got my interest.

Another big park in the Minneapple would be Powderhorn.

Rule #7 Upon finding the golden twins ticket

ya know, if its in the twin cities, it could actually be in saint paul...

hey a guy can always hope, right?

there must be something i'm missing cuz i don't get the loring park deal.

that said, destination could imply that its near the airport, the amtrak depot (newell anyone?), any of the old railroad passenger stations that still exist, or even a greyhound station. hmmm. so many parks. so little time.

ok there is something more in this clue

Hooligans
Mankato, MN
Irish pub flavor - Mankato style.

Who'll again? = Hooligan

Main Entry: hoo·li·gan

Etymology: perhaps from Patrick Hooligan fl1898 Irish hoodlum in Southwark, London
Date: 1898
: RUFFIAN, HOODLUM

So near an Irish Pub

well even worse --- the counties not just the cities. But I would think they would start with their own city. I really don't think it's in St Paul cause they know we have hunts here every year. So start with the hometown.

personally I am covering areas in Minneapple that I already know first--- Like Powderhorn is near Laura Ingalls Wilder school. and plains are pretty loud over there. But I personally think its closer to the airport whick would put it practically in Crosby :) hahaha

Wirth though is not safe to me even though its a nice big park- women have been found dead there

Now Loring has the yellow 94 tunnel underpass and the gold? Basilica
and the theatre across the street with the giant sculptures

Loring has a bandshell and a sculpture garden.

My parents were married in Loring Park back in 1970 (before it got it's reputation)

I just found out today there is a Whitney bridge there. My dad died before my daughter was born...her name is Whitney...hmmmmm.

"Cover them" may be a reference to "cover your bases," stating that this thing may be near a baseball diamond. In keeping with the baseball theme.

May 1997 MPR News

The bodies of several serial murder victims have been found in Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis the past few years. The trial of a man charged with the murders is underway in Hennepin County District Court. All of the media coverage worries park supporters the public is getting the wrong message about park safety. An event Friday at Theodore Wirth is an attempt by the Park Board and residents to assure the public the parks are safe. Minnesota Public Radio's Dan Olson has more.

I think it would only make sense to have a baseball field in the park where it is hidden. I don't think WIRTH has one.

What if the hidden clue is GOLDEN = Golden Valley? is that in Hennepin County?
