Just got back from Safeco Field, the Mariners' home stadium in Seattle, thought this might be an interesting add.
Espn rates it here: here.
Interesting inclusion...
5. Beer: Complaining about beer prices at a stadium is like complaining about real estate taxes. Everyone thinks they're too high. So I'll just say the beer is expensive (from $5.50 for a small Bud to $7.75 for a microbrew) but the selection is better than you find in most bars. Red Hook, Pyramid, Sapporo, Fat Tyre, Henry's Weinhard, Pabst, Alaskan Amber -- it's a wonder David Wells stays in the dugout when the Yankees are in town. 4.5
I personally went with the Redhook ESB, one of my favorites, then went with the cheaper MGD in plastic bottles.
What is it about plastic bottles at a ball game that make then go down smooth?
Jim Caple hasn't reviewed any of the other parks I have been to...Fenway, New Comisky, Dodger STadium or the Vet, but I will keep an eye out.
If anyone is interested, I'll post the story of how I got kicked out of Fenway Park in Boston for taking pictures of someone's wife/girlfriend, complete with pictures.
Not alot of takers, huh Krummmm?
Milwaukee County, Tampa Stadium, Ramond James Stadium (Tampa), Mile High, Candlestick, Soldier...that's about it.
I would love to get to Lambeau...or sit in the Dog Pound in Cleveland.
Oh, why not...
Arrowhead, Royals Stadium, Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, Old Comiskey Park, Turner Field, Camden Yards, Tiger Stadium, Adelphia Coliseum, Coors Field, Mile High I, Neyland Stadium (which is college but seats 100K+)...
...and the Football HoF in Canton.
Now defunct, (I think,) Old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Old Crosley in Cincinatti, Old Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, Tiger Stadium in Detroit, (may still be in use,) Old Cominsky in Chicago, (may still be in use,) old Jack Murphy in San Diego, (I think since replaced,) Old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta.
Been to Shea and Yankee stadium, been to Fenway, been to Wrigley, been to whatever they call Dodger Stadium these days, been to the Twinky Dome, been to the new place in Baltimore before the boycott, and the new place in Cleveland on a business trip I couldn't avoid. I have been in the place where the Angels used to play beside of Disneyland, (they may still play there,) and the Kingdome, but there were no games on those days, I was just site bagging.
It is still in use, as a parking lot.
DonS,
I really liked Dodger Stadium, I saw two games there, this one was pretty cool.I was there with the Uncle, my first time in LA, we were in the right field bleachers.
There was some volcano smoke from somewhere in the Pacific, and the sunset was wild. ON EDIT I Googled, it must have been Pinnatubo.
I was scoring the game, in an absent-minded kinda way, talking to the Uncle, the only radios aound us were tuned to Spanish stations. I remember noticing and saying to the Uncle, in the seventh inning, "Hey , Martinez has a no hitter going here." The guy next to me is also scoring, and he says, "Fuck man, we haven't even had a baserunner."
Very cool.
The next night, I was out under the stands, looking for "el banyo", when Strawberry parked one that rolled down the walkway right in front of me, with a scrum of kids piling on it.
Comiskey has been gone more than a decade. The new park is officially U S Cellular Field, known locally as The Cell. Or occasionally The Joan, after US Cell's official spokesperson, Joan Cusack.
I've been to Comiskey, the Cell, Wrigley, County, Miller Park, Tiger, Comerica, the Jake, Old Cleveland, Three Rivers, Riverfront, Fenway, Yankee, Shea, Camden Yards, Skydome, Busch, Kaufmann, the Louisville Slugger factory and the HOF. Plus lots of minor league stadiums.Â
