Racino @ Canterbury Park

Dear Ian,

In recent days, the well-financed assault on Canterbury Park's proposed Racino continued, as 60,000 Minnesota precinct caucus attendees received a glossy flier with severe misrepresentations about the gaming industry.

Ironically, the Pioneer Press believes the flier was prepared by a group aligned with the Minnesota Taxpayers League, with financial assistance from existing Tribal Casinos that are attempting to keep their untaxed monopoly on gambling in the state. While it may seem strange and cynical for tribal casino interests to fund a frontal attack on gambling, that appears to be what happened here.

The brochure urged caucus attendees to pass resolutions against the "expansion of gambling" and against the wishes of the 70% of Minnesotans who support the Racino. Please strongly consider attending your precinct caucus this Tuesday, March 2nd, and let people know who paid for the anti-gaming pieces - the Tribal Casinos and those who receive funding from them.

Make sure people know the truth about the Racino at Canterbury Park:

The Racino is supported by 70% of Minnesotans.
The Racino would not expand gambling in Minnesota. It doesn't create any new gaming locations, introduce gaming to a new community (as Canterbury Park already operates horse racing, tele-racing and a 24-hour card club) or even introduce any new games to Minnesota.
The Racino would generate $150 million in new gaming tax revenue every two years for the state when fully operational.
The Racino would be a major boost to the state's $1 billion horse economy by providing investments in the racing and show industry.
Thank you for continuing to support the Racino. With your help, we can finally make the Racino vision a reality - Finally a Jackpot for all Minnesotans.
