My daughters are playing in the softball tournament for Star City Days. Maybe it will be hidden near the ball park! I can't open that Promo thingy. Does it say where the clues will be posted?
Edit: Looks like I'm wrong about that. Daughter just said they aren't playing this year. Babysitting conflicts.Â

I can't open that Promo thingy
It should open Media Player. If not, it's also on their site. It doesn't say anything about the hunt specifically, just an IGH Days video. The info for the hunt is at the top of this thread. Look for the 1st clues in tomorrows Sun Current

OK. Thanks CM.
Another Medallion Hunt? Sounds like an opportunity to hone my skills (or lack thereof).
Clue #1
Tis the season to search near and far and look for the Golden Star
Hmmm... Near a Pine tree...
Clue #2
If you pass through there is a nice view
Come look about there will be no doubt
Clue #3
It's a great place to play especially during the day
Tunnel...?
Clue #4
Some is old some is new
Find the Star of gold and you won't be blue
Clue #5
Climb up the wall the feat isn't small
if you are only three feet tall
I missed that X-mas tree reference. Good noodle.
I seen 'pass through' in clue #2 and immediately thought of South Valley Park.
I went there and all 5 clues fit so far. Even better with your pine tree reference. I could only look for an hour though. I should have more time tomorrow if you wanna hook up.

I thought of either north or south valley park too, though I have recently been there caching, so I thought maybe it was just because I've been familiar with them.
I may have time in the evening....
Are you talking about those parks on both sides of Upper 60th in the big dip? That's what I was thinking of when I read the clues.
The Parks and Recreation Department is located at 8055 Barbara Ave. E. at Hwy. 52 South and 80th St., inside the Veterans Memorial and the Grove Community Center. The offices are located next to the ice arena.

Are you talking about those parks on both sides of Upper 60th in the big dip? That's what I was thinking of when I read the clues.
YES
A disc golf tournament is/will be happening.
the golf disc should be on the north park....
The "golden star" should be in the south park...(as I figure it)....
(don't forget there is a tunnel at the park of where my cache is at -- 52pickup)..but the clues don't fit.

Are you talking about those parks on both sides of Upper 60th in the big dip?
Both sides of 70th street.
A disc golf tournament is/will be happening
I spaced off the early entry date :-(
What park is your cache at Kitch? I'll find that today anyway. Does it have a lake/pond?
Clues to follow....
[Edited 2 times. Most recently by on Sep 10, 2004 at 07:45am.]
yes..its got a lake...
Clue #6
While you are here there is something you will hear
Although it's not near, you could see it from the future pier
Geo-link please
Clue #7
If you need to escape to get in shape
Walk, bike or run are some things that can be done
i'm not sure of the name of the park...but here is the cache page

Clue #8
If you want to have a picnic there is some shade
This place has been here less than a decade
Thanks Kitch. That sounds cool. Is there a place to park?
hmmm....I don't know about a "FUTURE PIER"....but......
YOU COULD HEAR THE traffic of the hwy 52.....and.....
it has a really long walking path that brings you up to another "small park"(on another lake)...the trail leads about half mile to the north...
THAT SMALL PARK IS JUST south of upper 55th and West of hwy 52.....on a bike trail ....I don't know of any way to drive to it... (no playground there.)
Clue #9
The speed limit close by can be used as a guide
for the space along the south side
at the site where I gave you the mapquest map...you park on off street parking....and I'm sure that park is not this old!!!
Clue #10
You don't need to go far to park your car and look for the star
Heading out now. Thanks guy. Is there anything you want me to do to the cache? I hope the other hunters won't mess with it. There were quite a few people that were there at the clue release. Which surprised me since there were only three of us at clue time last year. Damn!
hmmmm....
Don't worry about the cache...I'm not...

I can't open this...is this the PIER????
Page can't be found
Excellent idea although I wanna head out before I loose time
"peir one -store" doubt it...but never know??/
Proposed bridges, piers and pond overlook
2001 Lebanon Hills
Transportation Department
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
265th Street Bridge Replacement
The contractor has completed the east abutment, both piers, and has begun working on the west abutment. Work is scheduled to be complete by early October.
I just called the hotline!!! The hunt is on!!!!
"I miss the st. paul press - saying that"
lebanon hills? isn't that in eagan?
Nice on the 265th bridge. I'm assuming the way the clues are crankin out, this thing should be found today or tomorrow (But I'm guessing today, probably before I get out of work).
ya..its in eagan...
Â
Does the river trail go down through IGH yet? Are they building a pier there in the future?
It's definitely at your park Kitch. Lots of hunters milling around but no 'real' hunters if you know what I mean. They come in and agree it's the right park and look for about 15 minutes then leave. I was there all day. I didn't find the first part of your cache and hope some kid didn't do something with it. I know it's close to the park sign towards ther front somewhere.Â
If you're heading out KC or anyone else, it's at Lion's Park on 65th just east of Hwy 52. I got all cut up today looking in the woods because the main part of the park has been gone over pretty good. I even got stung by a damn bee! So 'bee' careful out there. LOL I crack myself up.
Good luck and shhhhhhhh!Â
May a CC find it since I'm stuck at work. If it's not found tonight, I don't think that tomorrow's 5 clues will help much because the last two years all they did was get 'other' people to the right park but not really pin point it. Come on CC, get out there and represent!

Hmm, What makes you so sure that's the right one CM? I've done Kitch's 52 Pickup, and that bike path goes quite a ways up to the tunnel, and across 52 to another small park.
Hmm.. there's a Jeep TBug in the cache there...... Might just go for it and hunt out the Star. Still wondering about why that park would be it though...
Â
I just talked to CM on the phone...its the right park....
not sure yet if the first half or the 2nd half of my cache....
at lions park....I can't figure out the "tunnel" part....
but accrding to cluemaster...there is a small kids climbing wall on the playground, 52 traffic you can hear, pier will be built on the lake, etc...
Â
Hey Kitch are you heading out there? I might head over after work, bout 6pm...
Well I guess I'm not 100% sure. It's just one of those things that you feel OK about and then seeing many other hunters having the same ideas kinda helps your confidence. I just talked with Kitch and he's gonna head out after work and see for himself and get a feel for it. I know his cache is quite a ways up but not sure if they're even talking about that hwy 52 tunnel or not.
There was some lady who thought it could be a new park along the river but it didn't have the playground or something. I'll need to check that out to eliminate or include it for tomorrow.
Hey Kitch - If you're planning on getting the clues tomorrow, meet me early and one of us could fly to the park B4 the clues come out in case they're more specific this year.
