well I wasn't gonna participate, but if there's echolab stuff... lol :) I'm tryin to think if I got somethign to contribute to the cause, will let ya know if I find soemthing worthy.
Redbear, look in the Ghost of Treasure Hunts Past thread.
If you're able to create the threads there, go ahead. If not, I can do it. THX will move it "out" later. He doesn't keep up with all these threads all the time.
So would anyone be interested in doing a scavenger hunt that I designed on Friday, December 10th starting around 6pm? In some ways it's more like a treasure hunt in that you have to go around the Mall of America finding things that will give you the answers to clues. There are 26 clues and each clue gives you one letter in an overall puzzle. The first team to figure out the phrase in the overall puzzle and report back to me is the winner. You won't have to buy anything or take anything. You don't even have to take pictures. All you have to do is solve the clues you'll be given by finding the things in the Mall they refer to. To solve the clues, you won't have to go in any stores, department stores, restaurants, or nightclubs. They can all be solved just by walking around the main part of the Mall and Camp Snoopy so you shouldn't have to worry too much about fighting crowds. We'll start at 6pm by meeting for dinner and getting organized. Then the hunt itself will start at 7:30 and go for two hours until the Mall closes (or until someone wins). People will be competing in teams though the sizes and number of teams will depend on how many people participate. There will be a $5 charge for this event which will go towards the prize and materials for the clues and answer sheets. As for where we are meeting for dinner...
Where Christmas has its headquarters (6th letter)
What people sing at Christmas as they go door to door (5th letter)
The CEO of Christmas (2nd letter)
He was born on Christmas Eve and led a parade through town that same day (6th letter)
Something you might need for a Christmas Kissing Booth (6th letter)
He whose heart was three sizes too small (2nd letter)
He was visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve (1st letter)
reminds me of a reverse scavenger hunt I did at the MOA once. Setting up I took pictures of places in the mall, then made some printouts and had the groups go around the mall in search of where the pictures were taken.
Best one that nobody figured out was the camp snoopy ticket scanners, in the shadows or at night, they make a criss-crossing pattern of scanning beams on the floor. Add that to the fact that the pictures they had to go on were black and white, nobody figured it out.
Well one, Christ wasn't born on Christmas Eve (as far as anyone knows). Secondly, I don't think he was leading a parade the day he was born, so keep guessing.
I suppose I should also mention that this hunt was originally designed for my singles club (which has been keeping me pretty busy lately) so some of them will be there also. If need be it could even become a competition between the singles and the hunters. I think it will be fun though and a chance to get some exercise for both the mind and body before the big hunt.
Every year when it first snows I seem to find myself back here to let everyone know about it. It's like I think no one else can see it but me, I dunno.
I'm taking 18 credits up at century so that might suck a little bit for the hunt, as we'll be in our 2nd-3rd week by then, but oh well, school isn't THAT important.
I was a little suprised to see that the movie is going to be screened, thats pretty cool. And here I was convinced that Trent was a CIA agent trying to infiltrate a possible terrorist organization.
Where are you now that today is the first time you've seen it snow?
I think they're screening it because they might want some input and possibly get some footage of the screenings themselves to use as part of the bonus material on the DVD
Yeah, but I in years past I'd show up in here around June/July and then have to wait 7 months till the hunt, the longer I wait to show up here, the less I have to wait.
It's so pathetic. My girls were out in that little bit of snow trying to make snow angels. The snow was so hard and crunch that they didn't even make a dent!
ecolab?? sweet

Ok, THX, can we do a "2nd annual bearhunt" thread? One for clues, too?

get there early. do the hunt, and head over to the duelling piano bar afterwards. sweet!!! we're in.
knowing that isnt correct I figured out it is at Players
so knowing I got 2 letters incorrect I did it again - Instead of Christ and the T -I know it was a Y for someone
and I guessed Ebenezer Scrooge and realized you wanted the S from the last name not the E from the 1st name
I WIN! ;)
yup.

yup :) in fact I think I saved the picture somewhere under the name "X marks the Spot" as the criss-crossing beams made an X.

Trent called me today. He's still trying to pin down a place to show the movie, but he will be showing it in January!

LOL, yeah I was a bit slow this year, shutup.
Come on now Timbo, you'll need to be a bit quicker than that before the hunt starts ya know. ;0)
Yeah, but I in years past I'd show up in here around June/July and then have to wait 7 months till the hunt, the longer I wait to show up here, the less I have to wait.
Good point.
Incidently, here's a shot I took from my patio door a few days ago. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
