For one of the ice castles - the Harriet Island one I think - the Carnival folks bought ice from one of the cutters in that Spicer area. It was one of the bills that became overdue when there were cost over runs here. I'm not sure they ever did get paid in full. If I remember correctly - and I could for sure be wrong, there was a "settlement" and the St. Paul Carnival people ended up paying only part of the total bill and the rest was forgiven.Â
but geez...why dont the vendors come out during the hunt?
Â
Sounds to me like you guys need to contact the rotary clubs / lions clubs etc - and get someong out there to make Bouya!
don't you guys have mexican taco trucks on every street corner?? how do you live without having a Taco Truck parked every 50 feet for your eating pleasure??
Q. A bald eagle swooped down at me while I was hunting for the Winter Carnival medallion at Mounds Park in St. Paul last year. After I recovered my wits, I realized the bird was probably going after my fur-lined hat. Are such mistakes common?
A. The eagle very well may have momentarily mistaken your hat for a meal, says Department of Natural Resources nongame wildlife specialist Joan Galli. Eagles have occasionally been reported to attack rabbits and even house cats. It's also possible the bird was simply riding the wind currents created by the bluffs in the area and was incidentally carried past you.
They do but when I asked the Conway guy why it took him so long he said that he had to apply with the city and pay for a permit and only sell exactly where the permit was drawn up for. Even within the distance of a block. Maybe the ROI isn't feasible unless you can be set up on clue 11 by a parking lot in the correct park.Â
I know I was wondering the same thing at Harriet a couple of years ago only to find out 'they' moved it to Como. They would have been screwed then. (Just like us for that matter)
I need to credit me2 with that tool. Thanks again lady. I think that using that tool in the pit all night helped confirm to all of us late-nighters that that puck was nowhere inside of that hole. By the time I got through sifting the already pre-dug snow, it was pretty much like a white sand beach down there.
So you think there will be many 4am diggers this time around 3M?
I just wondered what proof you had. Time will tell anyways. No biggie
Sounds to me like someone might need to rethink the mold they made for this years medallion hoax  ;-)
I need new gloves after last year! I wrecked them in the pit. They were all wet and dirty from the little shovel I was using and the fact that we dug to the ground.
From what that guy Zeph was saying on the PP board it sounds like people trying to sign up at the PF are being delayed. Email verifications are not going though.

Inks is from up not far from Spicer. That's a big deal out there.
I thought it was neat how they go back to the old ways in harvesting the ice.

I was thinking about bidding on the one. I think it's the 1980 Jest fest can. It matches the 1980 button.
I did see CM with his screen thing though!

not sure, but if it's not found you can count on me again. I won't stop 'till it's found!
That was funny last year when that guy "got everyones attention" and announced the time and the fact that we were the "hardcore" hunters!

You know I'll be out there :)
I need new gloves after last year! I wrecked them in the pit. They were all wet and dirty from the little shovel I was using and the fact that we dug to the ground.
I need to get some snow pants.
fleetfarm is cheap
That's where I'm gonna go look, I want to be warm this year :)
I'll check there then. I need to get the whole family some new gear. Boys are going digging this year too.
At least I don't have school sucking up all of my time this year=O
I've had both beer cans for a coupla years. Found one at a garae sale on Lincoln avenue on Grand ole Day, of all places!
