Yes I am officially laid off as of last night after 16 years
I feel for ya 3M. I was there myself not too long ago. Same type of deal but our whole crew was let go for cheaper replacements. Many of us knew each other for 15+ years and still stay in contact. The drive home after the bar party that last night was one of the worst feelings I ever had. But you'll move on and that time in your life will still be a strong memory. The only problem I see is that my current co-workers are probably sick of hearing how 'we used to do it at my former job'. Which I've been trying to catch early on now. :-) You'll do it too.Â
Good luck in finding something. I'll keep my ears open. What area of work are you looking to get into anyway?

a lot of us say things with not so serious under (or over) tones. the difference is that with you, its incredibly difficult to tell when those overtones are present or not, because you come off as serious all the time. no one in this forum will deny how serious you are about the hunt. no one. but when 30+ people don't sense those undertones, there's a hugedisconnect there, and it ends up stirring up rifts like this.
I finally finished slogging through this thread. I feel like I'm back in high school. Thanks for that. I liked high school. Just for the record, I have no problem with Jake. I've seen as much rudeness directed toward him as by him. I prefer to think of it as people getting wrapped up in the hunt and getting carried away sometimes. You're never going to have a group as diverse as this (except for the fact we all hunt for the same treasure) agree on everything or mesh perfectly. And I agree with Jake when he says some people dislike him only because of what they've seen written in this forum. Some of his detractors have never met him or talked to him. I've done both. Jake's whole group has been nothing but gentlemen to me when I've met them. That's why I voted not to have him banned from the thread. Some people probably won't like what I just wrote, but that's my two cents worth.

In the same context you don't know me either. I do know the things that were said to me by you about the crew and all the thing that were going on last year, and as I've stated before I'm not here to play to the drama.
Politics have nothing to do with me digging in the snow.
The conversation you and I had last year for two hours wasn't about my opinion of you being controled by the crew or about me wanting them to get them to like me by being mean to you.
It was about you wanting to have your picture on the coolertimes site. You wanted me to list you as being a cooler crew memeber. You said that if anyone should be on there it was you because you are Jake etc etc. I simply told you that from what I tell here from the group was that you wern't welcome and wern't really part of the crew anymore. I even asked them (being that the site is there for the crew). The over all opinion was that you were a Medallionator.....
More so... and this might be me reading into things to much... but it was your Medallionators site that was talking down to the "cooler who". What sense do you think it would make to me at that point in time to put you on coolertimes? Cooler times is not a "hunters site" It's a site for the Cooler Crew.

Jake- I don't hate you man. Anything I've posted in here or said to you was probably just me joking with you. It just came down to the fact that you weren't posting anything useful anymore you were just coming in here and ripping on people. Most people here don't like your type of humor and its especially not going to go over with the type of reputation you have in here. You earned that reputation by doing stupid things, whether they were jokes or not. The only thing that sticks into my head is the fake press release saying the hunt was cancelled a few years ago, and the "cooler who?" stuff. Nothing that big, but when you add all the stuff together people get sick of it.Â
2001 was my best hunt so far in my short career of medallion hunting, I truely believe that if you, Steve, and I had stuck together we'd have found it within 5 years, but that didn't happen for whatever reason and thats cool. That being said if I see you in the parks I'll still come up to talk to you and see whats going on. As far as I'm concerned you are still part of the crew, even though you have alienated yourself from some of its members. In the end this is all about medallion hunting and you are by far the most dedicated medallion hunter I know, I won't be suprised if you find it one of these years, I kind of expect it.Â
When you first came on here as "newbie" it was obvious to me that it was you because very few people have that kind of knowledge of hunt history, I also know from talking to you and hunting with you, you can be a cool guy that can be articulate and stuff if you really want to be. I don't see why you can't just continue to post like you did when you thought we didn't know it was you. That was the first time in as long as I remember that you added something worthwhile to this forum. Some people may never 'forgive' you for the crap you've pulled in the past but you have to just forget about them, and focus on convincing everyone else you're a good guy. You have frequently said things to the affect of "you don't really know me", and thats true, but what you need to understand is people only know what you show them, and for a while that was you being a jerk on this forum.Â

I don't think it's the writers.... they didn't even know how the boards worked at first. They were correct in knowing about the hunt they have in Italy. We shall see :)

My take on things...
It's been 11 1/2 months since we have all been hunting (not counting mock hunts) and we are all having medallion anxiety and are on edge.
The good news, the cure is right around the corner
