2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

I just sent off an email to the last email address I have for her, but I don't think it's active any longer.  I think I'll put in a yell for her at the PP Discussion Board too.

holy crap it just took me like an hour to get through all the posts.  Sheesh.  Well nothing now til the clue I suppose.

Lina and I are going to head out in a few minutes here. We'll stop by GW and then go to Mompress. I guess we'll see some of you there!

BTW, Lina is kinda scared of this whole thing I think. She doesn't feel like she belongs. I'm trying to tell her that she does, but I think she's overwhelmed. If you see us out and about it would be So Cooler if you could say hi, introduce yourself to Lina and help her to feel down to earth, etc. I really don't want the medallion hunt to become something that is just me and not her.

I hate being so far away.  This is the one thing I miss about the city since we moved.  The Med. Hunt, even though we came back to the city last year and stayed during the hunt.

NW Wisconsin.  A few miles outside of the town of Grantsburg actually.  We bought a farm here and thats what we try and do.  Farm that is, hehe.  Mostly I think we just comic relief for real farmers.  But I just cant give up the medallion hunt.

Yep, I'm gonna get outta my work clothes and change into my huntin duds.  See you all in about an hour.

Moved to Somerset a few years ago.  Am a little closer than you and I try to get into St. Paul and look for at least one day.

last year I went and stayed at a friends house for a few days to hunt.  Had to break down and head home when the big snow hit, and that was before the last clue, was a real bummer.

Have you seen the movie?  If not it's supposed to come out on CD and I plan on buying a copy.  Very funny!

CLUE WHAT CLUE!!!

I know lots of people who have places over near Grantburg.  One of my best friends just bought a place on the Wolf River.  I've was there several time this summer and fall.

There is an area that lays down across from the old Pioneer Press building  "between" Indian Mounds and the river. Its where all those paddle boats sometimes dock during the summer. Does anyone know what that area is called? Its somewhat new.

I think its called Lamberts ,, thank you ares. This place seems to fit the clues so far as well. Im still out in the cold on ideas. Lamberts, Indian Mounds, Cherokee, BC , Crosby... HELP!!!  I seen people at everyone of these parks tonight between 7cst and 9cst

St. Paul, known as I-MNI-ZA SKA DAN ("little white rocks") by the Dakota, was named because of the white sandstone cliffs that are exposed in the area. The good landing spots near the cliffs coupled with the rapids and falls further upstream made St. Paul the "end of the line" for Mississippi River steamboat traffic. During the 1800s, St. Paul's Lower Landing was one of the busiest steamboat landings in the United States.

Until the beginning of the railroad era in the 1880s, Lower Landing was the main source of supply and communication for the St. Paul community. It also served as the arrival point for tens of thousands of immigrants entering Minnesota. On average, each steamboat carried several hundred passengers, and the number of steamboat arrivals grew from 256 in 1854 to 1068 in 1858.

This important St. Paul landing was not actually known as Lambert Landing until 1937, when it was reconstructed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) as a part of a revival of St. Paul’s riverfront. It was named after Colonel George Lambert, who was a prominent figure in the crusade to modernize Upper Mississippi River navigation.

This landing was located at a natural break in the Mississippi River’s 80-foot high bluffs (at the foot of present-day Jackson Street).
Most of the landing was removed in the 1950s for the construction of Warner Road.

No, haven't seen her.  NonStopRock says he hasn't seen her either.  :(  I'm going to call the Minnesota Realtors Assn or some such place tomorrow and see if she still sells real estate.
