Morning everyone! I gotta agree with something Tim said earlier, that the next few clues will probably not narrow it down one bit (assuming we have the park right, which I think we do).

I also really like the tunnel of terror noodle.

So let's all get out there and dig the hell out of that park!!!

Thanks MedallionStallion.

Nice to know I've made my mark,
I agree ~ all that's left is to dig the park!

At first it was tounge in cheek,
Many of us believed in Battle Creek.
Now we're set on Crosby Park,
There's a chance it'll be Como on a lark.

I get on here at all of the wrong times... All my noodles have been taken....

something is making me very nervous....

very.....

If you had wrote a clue like this one....you'd be very proud of the clue....the overall writing the idea the poets, generals, etc.......its a good clue if IMHO.

but....if thats the case...why would you SPOIL it by giving us something sooo easy as "white christmas".........?

then again...I'm still gunshy!!!!

I don't want to have that oh-no---look like the camo crue....

WHy have 2 clues that point to the park by clue 4??? One or the other must be wrong.... you would think...

hmmmmm.....

I don't like to fully convince myself of anything with the clues... Even when 99% sure, I still like to try and find an alternative... just in case...

well kitch, you gotta look at last year's clue. They anagrammed "it's at phalen park" in clue 3... that was waaaay obvious.

I too have serious aprehension about the clear indication of Crosby this early.  It just seems too easy...then again, empirical data would suggest that the "park clincher clue" is inversely proportional to the vastness of the park.  There's got to be a theorem in there somewhere!

excavating stud

Evildoer's Theorem:  The surface area and density of a park is inversely proportional to the medallion hunt park "indicator clue".

I think Cheif Thunder and Wonderland are dead on track.

"Cliffs/Edges" Points Crosby/HF

"White Christmas" Points Crosby/HF

"Whats that you hear" Points Fort Snelling indicates Crosby/HF

"Fozen Water" Both Crosby and HF have that

"Poet=Homer / Field Generals= Quarterbacks"  plain and simple

Crosby/HF is a huge park it will go the distance.

Do you have an explanation of why they didn't put Between? or how about the once blue pond?

I think you're right about Acorn. My only hang-up is the "field generals" clue. I can't seem to fit that one to Acorn. The rest of them fit. Maybe I'll have to take a skate around at Acorn this afternoon and mull it over. :)

Dang... and I was hoping that "treasure fit for kings" was the King of Diamonds...

Me too Zephy.  I think I'll go check it out just to be sure.  There's plenty of cracks and holes to look in around there that would be perfect for hiding a medallion.

As usual, i looked back at the clues from previous hunts to see if there are any similarities or common themes that are mentioned for a particular park. It was harder this time cuz the puck has never been hidden at crosby but it has been at HF twice, in 1993 & 1954. a few things jumped out at me.

the poet/song thing in....
1993, clue 3:
With clues that are truly poetic
And rhythm that really swings,
We bring this hint that will help you
Get right to the bottom of things.

The medallion you seek
Is surrounded by white.
We hope these few words
Will shed some light.

the safety, danger thing and the use of the word pursuit....
1954, Clue 3
Safety first has been our rule
Ever since we went to school;
Don't risk your neck in dangerous pursuit,
For even a child could find this loot.

whatcha think?

TTT...you didn't know....point out the 3 intersections of the walking path near the frogpond...just to the north...

this is the big falls area.......the are by the 6 white pillars....

I am thinking everything points generally to crosby but the "neither cliffs nor waters edge" is pushing a little bit north to a park called - HIGHLAND!!

IO may be stoned but here is a tid bit of what i noodled - WARWICK runs north and south near HIGHLAND and the treasure fit for kings reference could be referencing this -

i.e War·wick
Audio pronunciation of "Warwick"

(
 P
)

Pronunciation Key

(wrk), Earl of Title of Richard Neville.Known as “the Kingmaker.”1428-1471.

English military and political leader who fought for the Yorkists during the Wars of the Roses and secured the throne for Edward IV (1461). He then changed allegiance and restored the Lancastrian Henry VI to the throne (1470). He was killed in the Battle of Barnet, which regained the throne for Edward.

he was a tresure for KINGS and king wanna bes -

the other clues put you near crosby theoretically but i am thinking this may TOO EASY and like previous two years may have some double meaning and referencing two parks perhaps -

The siren reference could also put you onto ALbERT avenue ALERT add a B and get ALBERT - again I do smoke some mean machine green - so I could just be stoned....

more to follow...

I think that they led us to Crosby this early because the park is huge. Many of us were in Phalen on clue 4 last year and it still went 12. Crosby has few landmarks or points or reference and right now, where do you start to look? I would bet my third nipple that it is at Crosby and now the question is where?

There was an awesome spot that we walked by last night.  It's the perfect spot to dig even at this early stage of the game when they really don't point out such a spot.  I'm sure I'll bring lights and shovels tonight just to dig a little to feel like I've made some effort anyway.  My guess is that 3M is out there right now diggin up the area around that spot.  I'm gonna bring out the GPS too so we'll at least find something tonight.  After we get the clue we can call it the 'Caravan To Crosby'

Congrats on having the cracking honor last night LL.  Cheers all. I'm off to clean house and head to my new job and meet the crew.  C Ya later.

Once blue pond... is there a closed swimming pool or swimming hole in crosby/HF?

Wed, 01/26/2005 - 11:23 AM Permalink

could be reference to the swampy area between the two bodies of water..

St. Paul is filled with references to British historical figures that were involved with royalty. I know that by Crosby half the street names refer to prominent figures of British history. You could make a case for a lot of those names, not just Warwick.
