One of the nice things about this hunt is that one can always learn something new.  Lichen will be much better known by all of us after a few google searches.

Good luck to those heading out in the morning.  With some luck we might be out in the afternoon.

Goodnight and SCDs!

So I have this theroy that there is some connection to the song American Pie by Don McLean. Here are the following lyrics from the song that have been mentioned in clues so far

the once blue pond="levy was dry"
there before we moved in="God" //maybe?
litchen="moss grows fat on a rollin stone"
Treasure fit for a king="king and queen"
Don't run, helter skelter, seek out solid shelter="Helter Skelter in a summer swelter the birds flew off with a fallout shelter"
field generals="sergeants" and football referecnes in the song
poets sing="poets dreamed"
what's that you hear="church bells" //again, maybe?

There might be more too. I just seems like when say Helter Skelter the first thing I thought of was the Beatles, the second was Manson, the third was American Pie. And I know I've seen American pie refrenced before here. Could it be in an american pie CD case?

Just got back from Crosby...

All I can say is WOW! If it is there, and even if they narrow down that area even more specifically in the next few days, it's gonna be tough to find. It's not so much that it's a big area, which is it. It's more that there is not a whole lot of landmarks to narrow it down. It seems like this clue gave us all the landmarks that were left. There are a couple of trail signs, but they're really close to the river, which we've already been told to stay away from. Other than that, not a whole lot.

Maybe it will look more promising in daylight.

Thats good to hear Stallion. I'd like to see this go to 10 or 11. Before a cooler head finds it that is....

Okay, troops, be warned. I'm back again for another excruciating year of hunting. I'll give you until tomorrow evening to shape up.

:)

I was going to try to ignore this hunt completely, but it almost seems like they're trying to throw us a bone... either that or they're out to upset some people for sure.

So far, Crosby's the name, and parking.. That'll be the game, if it ends up pointing there after the weekend.

I just love that kitten (click on the link above)

Anyway, I just got home too - lots of people went down there after the clue but didn't stay long. It is very hard to search this park at night. On a positive note, it seems like this clue eliminates about half the park.

Thu, 01/27/2005 - 12:33 AM Permalink
OTiS

Yeah, the half that is harder to get to :)

Thu, 01/27/2005 - 12:37 AM Permalink
leelabell

No way, I think the shelter half is wayy easier than the half down by the big lake.

Downtown Dave got out downtown daved tonight, man you are really slippin.

Seriously though, I wish I could hibernate for 4 days and build up an incredible amount of energy then bust the park up on monday. Oh well, we know where it is now all we need to do is dig dig dig!

Thu, 01/27/2005 - 12:41 AM Permalink

Thats what ment leelabell :). It got rid of the half that sucks.
