Submitted by THX 1138 on

Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.

TeamFirstInLine

We [(Jon & Mark) First in line guys...] decided to get online here at the cooler crew site since everybody has asked us if we were members. We were at Crosby at roughly 7:30 this morning. Not a whole lot of people, but it is going to get busy really fast after tonight's and tommorrow's clue. Good luck to everyone!!!

I am having major misgivings about Crosby today.  Clue #7 has me thinking the park has an ice rink.  Any other conspiracy theorists out there?

bonfire will be at Crosby -I hope ;)

sounds like Great Waters from 7-9ish for me then onto RL til cluetime
Rockin Lobster is having a cover band singing Beatles tunes and I can personally only take some of those for so long.

and note: Bottom Line is -this is about Zeph and ZEPH ROCKS!!!!!

That was such a big high seeing him on the FRONT PAGE of the Pioneer Press

me2, I don't necessarily think Highland is the answer.  But you're question in general (how to make the field generals/poet clue fit another park) is the one clue I can't fit anywhere but Crosby.

I'm sure it's at Crosby, I just don't think it's airtight yet.

I think Crosby too.  How to fit in clue 6 somewhere else is hard:

Young woman or man     Youngman St.  is right there.

Sorry guys... Enough drama from me...

I have some things I have to take care of.

Is there any parking at Crosby?  I'm desperate to get out and explore the park, but my wife's working and I'll need to bring the kids out. I don't want them to have to walk too far.

There is parking, but I had to park on the road right near the entrance on Shepard. About a 4-5 block walk down to the shelter area. I did see cars parked at the marina lot though-- when I left the park about an hour ago, there were parking spots open in that lot.

Why has the hunt turned into such a party?  It really has ruined the atmosphere of the hunt.

I think Frozen Butt may have something with the "arrow" and "arrow" from marrow and yarrow. also, edible" and "edible" from credible and inedible, "ear" "ear" for fear and hear, "edge" and "edge", but it may just be to rhyme things

Well I was THERE. Last night, standing in the yarrow! It is crosby for certain.
The vulcans were there last night.

A friend and I felt very hot. Starting at the well tended fire, we went into the forest zone. We saw the FALLEN GIANT (tree) , the SOLID SHELTER, The ONCE BLUE POND (a dryed up marsh area to the right of the shelter. ... Beyond that area there are downed branches and yarrow, lichen and hikin.... I was there in no foot print land... right on top of it.

We figure the next 2 clues are all anyone will kneed, tee-hee.

Theres a bird house out there which might figure into some future clue....

Clue 2 sure was right. My hunt buddy and I got SO LOST on those trails whiling time away. took us like an hour to figure out where the heck we were and find the fire house again..

I think I'll be out the all day sunday. I'd like to go back now..... folks are getting close... But we are short on gas money so have to conserve trips out there..

Why has the hunt turned into such a party? It really has ruined the atmosphere of the hunt.

My two cents ...

In any group of semi-unknown people, and in circumstances out side the "normal" daily routine, you are going to witness behavior of which you personally may not approve.

I do not condone or condemn people's actions. I just wish to remind everyone that there areyounger eyes and ears around. Please remember that.

Just came back from the NTFCF showing, awesome stuff. I saw Randy, Marley, Artemis, Terry, Inks, Green among others there.

It re-energized me to get back out!

How busy will GW be tonight being a Satudray and all, was it hard to find a place to sit last night?

Sat, 01/29/2005 - 4:36 PM Permalink

Looks like we're starting at GW tonight and then moving to RL, at least that's what I got from me2

thats if you are following me around though ;)
you can stay at GW til clue time if you feel like it.

YARROW is a perennial that needs sunlight.

Well who wouldn't want to follow you around, you're always where the party is at.

There are a number of people who do not want to move to the Lobster due to smoke, expensive prices, and poor service. Anyway, I suggest we keep our business at GW and not move. Camo Crue has their headquarters. We have ours. They can come and visit us.

Oh, and I guess I had a joe back there (not that I track those).

There are no parking signs along the hill in some places. I didn't see the cops giving out tickets, just heard about them directing traffic and not letting cars in when it got too crowded.

Hi Homelessartist,

The shelter of which you speak, is that the one by the parking? I'm assuming there's only one shelter, but I just wanted to check. I want to go hunt tomorrow, but I don't want to get lost! Where is the fire pit you guys hang out at?

the snow and ice ground bug me- in last nights clue
when searching a park and finding an open area of Yarrow you would think you had to walk and actually look a bit to find it...so if its by the parkinglots you really didnt find a spot cause you didnt have to look for it-it was right there!

COMMON YARROW

(Achillea millefolium)

INDICATOR:

HP / FACU

HABITAT:

Fields, roadsides and open ground.

SEEDING RATE:

1 lb. per acre alone.

HEIGHT:

Grows to 3 ft. tall.

BLOOM PERIOD:

June to September

COMMENTS:

A hardy perennial with white or pink flowers. Tolerates low fertility.

Yarrow: Familiar wayside plant with attractive feathery foliage and corymbs of small, white flowers. One of the most universally utilized plants among Native American tribes. The flowers were smoked ceremonially; the flowers, roots and leaves have all been used to treat more illnesses and conditions than I can shake a stick at. The stalks are used in China for I Ching divination. Named after Achilles, who is said to have used it to heal his soldiers wounds at the seige of Troy. Native to Europe and W. Asia, now fairly universally naturalized.
