Midas Muffler Shop is on 7th Street directly aboveCrosby. A block or two away is a Burger King. I'm thinking that if you can extend perpendicular lines to the park area, the treasure will be there?
Also, Midas the fable king of Phrygia to whom Dionysus gave the power of turning to gold all that he tuched. Soon regretted his choice because even the food and water were turned to gold. To break the spell, Midas bathed in the Pactolus river.
Don't ask me why the river did not also turn to gold. But, the pp might be refering "gold" as ice or snow after all it is MN.
I'm new to town, and this is my first hunt, but I think this clue is talking about Pierre "Pig's Eye" Parrant. As most of you know, I'm sure, he was a moonshiner around Fort Snelling. Ft. Snelling's Indian Agent Major Talliaferro was infuriated by his whiskey trade, and issued a proclamation banishing Parrant and other squatters around the fort from Fort Snelling's land (I think this included Pike Island). Parrant and the squatters moved down the river to the northeast, to a site known as Fountain Cave, where today Shepard Road intersects Randolph Street. It was here, in 1838, that Parrant "staked his claim" and moved his whiskey still after his removal from the squatters camp. This was the first known dwelling by a person of European descent to be located within the limits of the city of St. Paul as we know it today. Most of this info is from www.lareau.org. There is a small monument marking the spot on the riverbank near where Parrant and the small group settled.
I was pondering this part, and thought maybe "us" was St. Paul. When I was at Crosby yesterday, I remember reading something about the first house built in St. Paul along the Mississippi (Pig Eye's place I think). Where was that, because it could be a grove of trees where it used to be, or referencing from that somehow, maybe.
hey allison, see you too. I am on break, but gotta go back to work now. Whatcha think of the eagle/dove noodle (cause i value your opinion)? too much of a stretch?
Here's another part of the story I didn't know. A bunch of people that settled near Fort Snelling were kicked out of the area because the man in charge was concerned about the growing population. About 150 people settled near Fountain's Cave. http://www.riverrides.com/pages/About_Us/about_riverhistory.html
All you have to do is bring a bag or holder of some kind and pick up the trash in the parks.
Make our parks clean parks, It also help to find the puck when there is not that crushed pop can laying around some where that makes it look jusk like the puck.
And you usaly can get about 5 to 10 cents per can or what not from the rec company as a reward. Every one is a winer, there are lots of cans and other trash to go around. So clean up that puck like thing you thought was the real puck. You all ready picked it up, all you have to do is stick it in the park trash cans or local rec center. SO GET CLEANING OUR PARKS!!!
The preceeding post is a public service message for the forum users. If you don't feel up to picking up trash, at least don't add to it by dropping yours there. :) Be respectful of Mother Earth.
I'm not sure the eagle/dove thing really tells us much about where the treasure is. It's a nice story, but I think they were talking more about the song lyric.
howdy everyone. I apologize if you have already discussed this. But Richard Hatch won the 1st Survivor TV show and had one year of fame. "Hatch" St runs by Como Park. I'm still 90% on Crosby but I thought it was a pretty fitting clue.
rina - why haven't I seen you out hunting or at any of the pre-parties? I wont drink Colt 45, but if I find one and give it to Jake he'll think it a treat compared to his typical beer.
matthewdk - If you go to www.Medallionators.comand then follow the link to the book you can order the new mapbook online. The other book, well, what's his name was going to email me the link so I could add him to our list but he hasn't done that as of yet.
I've been using Andy's because you can shorten it down with just using English dictionary words (from 100K to 20K) and use proper nouns. Eliminates the millions of ET and NU words that really don't exist
Here's my take on this clue....we are missing something.....and the people that know it are not telling....
I honestly don't think its "turpin" for his "rum town" or for "pig's eye"......the Year of fame thing is bugging me on both of these 2 guys....
I'm not convinced that "a year of fame" refers to the year minnesota becomes a state"....I really think when we find the true meaning of this clue it will hit you like a TON of Bricks and you will not share your find because its that good of info....
right now too many people are guessing on this one....
Good noodle lonlidame. But how would a person use a new street ref. to align the hiding spot? I guess I could go look at my map book.
The U.S. launched Midas 2, a satellite that was made to provide early warning of a missile attack.
Is the pp scared that there will be a miss hap and all doom will come lose if the Midas 2 satellite finds the puck first?
Be afraid, very afraid of spys in space!
On land as rich as Midas 2 the spy satellite!

I was out there from 3:30 am to 10:00 am and all I found were hinges.
However, an exception to the rule:Â If you want to leave say a cold beer in the woods, maybe a couple ... we'll appreciate finding that too!
Make our parks clean parks
Also, you may accidentally find the puck hidden in some trash.
So who was known for hiding in the forest? Robin Hood?
the earth is not your mother but pick up your trash anyway
lol - i like it allison!!sherwood baby - back to phalen !!
Â
Â
oy - the Earth certainly isn't our mother ... but if looked at some of these people, i.e. raggs, you might think the Earth is his mother!
Which one is the "main" one? Is it the one that goes down by the river?
How far of a walk is it? See my previous post.
