Discuss the 2005 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt here.
Pay Me
I also think that some of the ideas that have been floating on here over the last few days are more then capes and logos. I think it is a way for the group to get together more often during the year. Maybe not lose touch! Look at what was accomplished with Zephy, using a great deal of fun we let everyone know how much we care for all those serving our country.  There are probably a million things we could do year round for different things.Â
I love ESD's new logo. However, I don't know that anyone would recognize it as cooler crew unless both the old and new logo were on the same item. For tradition's sake, I think we should stick with the old logo. It says who we are.
I can't do the firemen's coat - too heavy. I actually hate the color blue (all shades), but I am willing to go with it because it is the color of the Cooler Crew. I don't know that anyone said we had to have baby blue. The color at the top of this page is much darker.
I love the idea of getting together during the year. As I said some time ago, we used to do that monthly and called it Shooting the Breeze - Live!
We did attempt to do some things like clean up the park the medallion was hid in for Earth Day in April, but usually only one or two of us showed up. It's amazing how many folks disappear after the rehash bash. Perhaps with a larger group and more sticking around during the year, more of that sort of thing could get done.
If anyone is going to the parade today and want to meet up, egram me your cell phone number by 11am. I am going with a bunch of people and you are more than welcome to join us.
I like the CC logo ESD made, but I also like the current one. If ESD took the current logo and jazzed it up a bit, like maybe a slight font change and the snow effects, that might be a good compromise.
I believe the blue color on the logo was more to coordinate with the water cooler bottles that represent the 2 Os in cooler. Blue is often the color or water or is represented as such.Â
I always did like the park cleanup idea Terryv. Last year we had a geocaching event out at Phalen, I think more geocachers showed up to clean up the mosh pit than the cooler crew that had talked about doing it.
I think if people made an effort on that, and if the powers that be around here used some connections to get the crew some media coverage on it, picking a day to clean up the park would be great way for the crew to be noticed in a positive way. It's like the elderly guy I met out at crosby the other day in the aftermath of the hunt, he's helped maintain some of the trails in crosby for years, and I think all the digging and damage done out there had kinda upset him. Think of what kind of message we could send to people like that if we made the effort to clean up at least some of the mess.
I think what people want is to make the CC more visible. Not so much just to be wild or just to hand out....... but to bring people to the crew on many diffrent levels.
This is our home. Wild and crazy or chilling in a bar talking... or cleaning up a park it's a home for all of us. These are all things that anyone of us can and like to do.
I think what is being said... is in the aspect of the crew there could be the core group as a whole... and then a "darker" or "crazy" part of the crew that is there for making things happen I guess? Perhaps add a little more life to an already great party?
Can you imagine sitting in line waiting for the paper and along comes those boys in blue....
It's support for the crew...... I don't think anyone wants to being anything negitive... I think more so it's about getting that attention... To have people saying... those guys are from the cooler crew....
In the long run it's about supporting the crew. I'm sure seeing kitch reflecting in the darkness in a park would make anyone feel better. Just knowing the crew was out there would make alot of people feel better.
I don't believe anyone is saying that they expect anyone to want to do all these things. Nor would I think anyone would be expected to. But considering the amount we did this year and the energy we have as a whole it would be nice to harness it and possibly do much much more.
Our base is the carnival and the hunt.
The medallion is and should always remain our goal. But this group has a great group of people and resources and theres nothing wrong with wanting to draw on that amazing fact to consider doing more.
We are all one crew regardless of what size thong Clue Master desides to wear ;-) and that should be kept in perspective.
I do think those are positive things that could get us some recognition during the year - and if nothing else, help us feel like we're part of what is positive in the world.Â
Thinking of cleaning up Crosby brings to mind chain saws to help clean up some of that downed wood. We try to do that up north with our woods to help keep fire danger down.Â
I don't think this year will be an issue without much snow, but Crosby is a flood plain and some years getting in there to clean up would be an issue.
bottom line. we are a cohesive group of people who can effect positive change. that is a powerful message. it is also a privilege that must be cared for and nurtured. and the question is, how do we want to be remembered? i think the idea of a park cleanup day is absolutely excellent, since it protects the very resources that make this group what it is. with recognition comes responsibility.
I was thinking about the Camo Crue gear - they sort of have two logos - one on the front of their hats that says Camo Crue with a torch and a small one on the back of the hat or sleeve of the coat with crossing shovels. There is no reason why we couldn't put the intersecting C's on the back of a hat/arm of a coat while using the easily recognizable one on the breast pocket/front of hat.
Okay...gotta scoot. (Yes I actually did say that before that clue came out and wrecked my lingo). Gotta go buy cling material and then head out to the movie!
I will be offering updated WATERPROOF clings tomorrow in 2 designs:
These clues suck
and thanks to mrmnmikey:
We dug Crosby. He's a nice fella.
As a commemorative 2005 cling.
For any of you who will be at the parade later, see ya there! I'll have my camera! (Not like that matters, I just thought I'd say it.) :)
I like Ian's logo. Keeping it close to the old one is a good idea.
I think the Cooler Crew should stay with "C" and not be a "krew".
I think if we represent ourselves in public, like in a parade, it should reflect who we are: people who like to noodle clues and hunt for the med. So wearing what you would wear to go out hunting, plus carrying tools and a flashlight/headlamp/lantern would be great. If you want to be a little crazy, wear sandwich boards with phrases from clues on them, like "A crueler crew we never knew..." or something.
3 hots a day... unless they close the DFAC(dining facility)Â for security reasons... Like they did over the elections...
When doing anything away from here it is 3 MRE's a day... (which means that you may pick through 1 every other day)
Â
It just isn't very convenient to hit chow every day... I usually skip it on my off day, it is about a mile down the road... (off days are meant to be lazy days :) )

If the logo itself is in a blue color whatever it is put on could be any number of colors.
Rehash is tomorrow

Amen!
So it's settled...
the young hipsters will dress up crazy to increase group recognition
the old oldies will clean up the parks
and we'll both pass out buttons because that's fun
long live the cooler crew!
OK ... maybe I missed the post about it. Does anyone know what the treasure looked like this year? Did anyone get a photo of it?Â
What we can accomplish does not have to be limited to park clean up either. We can do different things around the community as well!!
ESD I really love your logo -your avatar moving like it is, I thought it was a penguin on a snowboard doing flips :)haha
I feel the Greg Sax logo should continue as it is now though.
also-its fine to have fun with many ideas but my personal desire is to keep the Cooler on a classy and respected course.  Â
[Edited by on Feb 5, 2005 at 08:56am.]
Ah shit...we've being goin for the classy look?
Damn.:)
I can be classy....
Â
Â
Â
ummm...at least i think I can.....
Ok how is this one?
ESD I like that one ALOT!!Â
Â
Â
p.s. the classy thing scares me.....can you be classy in a tiara?
ESD,
I like the way the snow sits on top of the letters.
Thanks, it has the hunt feel to it I think.
Can I use that for geocaching?
I will say regardless of outcomes it's good that the crew is talking this out. It's also good that everyone is being listened to.
We can't grow if we don't talk.
Go for it Ian.

leelabell that makes sense. Sometimes the normal graphic is kinda large for certain things. Not a bad idea.
Won't the Medallionators be jealous=)
With this many people all with so many different backgrounds and ideas it's the only way things get worked out :)
Fortunately, I'm both super and fancy!
HAHA! New tagline! I'm all for the wonder woman look. I wanted to be her when I was little. The gold bracelets rule! She didn't have a boa though.
Okay...gotta scoot. (Yes I actually did say that before that clue came out and wrecked my lingo). Gotta go buy cling material and then head out to the movie!

See you tonight G!

Just a few thoughts...
That new logo is exactly what I was thinking of! It's very close to the original, but it's got that extra flair. Nice job ESD.
I like it :)
A nice mix of something old with something new, something borrowed and something blue...
Something cold, unlike stew
man... now I'm hungry....
Â
:)
I was about to send you some stew in a can.
[Edited by on Feb 5, 2005 at 11:03am.]
mmmm.... stew....
I love stew... not enough "northern dishes" in the Army...
Â
Would you care for some succotash??/Â Yuck... Even the guys fron Lowsyana won't eat that crap...
loving ian's logo.
Yuck....
Hows the MRE to hot chow ratio? 2 hots and an MRE a day or something?
Ians logo was the one made by ESD I think unless I missed something.
3 hots a day... unless they close the DFAC(dining facility)Â for security reasons... Like they did over the elections...
When doing anything away from here it is 3 MRE's a day... (which means that you may pick through 1 every other day)

Yes it is my logo, and thanks all just somthing I like to do.
Would you like some grilled cheese? That's what we're having for lunch today!
So, if you don't hit the chow hall on your days off, what do you eat? Do you have a stash of canned stuff?
Great job on the logo! Love the snow on top.
