ya know, i spent some time at cherokee today, that's where i think it is... but nevertheless, i was thinkig about rosebud, from the movie citizen kane... and that movie was all about a newspaperman... and the pioneer press is just down the hill from mounds... makes me think twice about mounds
Jess - The women who found it at Battle Creek spelled out the first letters of each clue B-A-T-T-L-E. That's pretty obvious. Then its just pure luck. Nobody knows where that thing is (well, except the person who hid it). And if they did, would they risk their job telling someone?

twosisters I didn't think it was there either. But then I saw a BIG rosebud on that sign. 2 "city" streets run into Beaver Lake Ames and Lacross.

the streets on the east and west sides of beaver lake are edgeWATER and lakeWOOD. face it the clues can be made to fit several places still

mother boserud - there is no smokestack at beaver lake, but apparently you can see smoke from 3m. Quite a stretch we think.
