Is cable internet available in Columbia Heights? (55421)

The website says no.

I'm paying $105 a month for digital cable, premium channels (not sure what) that nobody watches anyway, rental fees for remotes and boxes. We get free phone service from Quest (my wife is a Quest employee.)

I have dial-up that I pay $110 annually.

I hate all of this.

You already have free phone so I don't see you wanting to get rid of that. Comcast offers the Take three packagethat includes Internet, phone and video. I don't know off hand what level of service you get but the whole deal is 124.99 before taxes and fees.

Why? Isn't your stripping job paying off anymore?  I can't imagine that.  I've seen that sexy fireman's outfit of yours....nothing short of hottt  ;-)

Hey OTiS - Don't forget to include the $10 HD/DVR and the $10 modem in your pricing.  Both well worth it.

$10 modem

Isn't it cheaper to buy my own? Is a cable modem a cable modem? All compatible?

Why am I asking these questions? I'm gonna get sucked in.

Thu, 03/03/2005 - 7:57 AM Permalink
OTiS

Yes Ian, you can buy your own if you want.

THe HD and DVR are both great options. If you have a HD TV I recomend them.

Clue Master

Can you get the DVR without the HD?

Thu, 03/03/2005 - 8:13 AM Permalink
OTiS

Also... if you have more then one computer.....Buy your own router. Don't pay for home networking.. that goes for wireless too.

Thu, 03/03/2005 - 8:18 AM Permalink
OTiS

No.... You can get HD without getting the DVR.. but if you get a DVR you have to get HD.

It's the box. Starts with just HD then goes up.

Thu, 03/03/2005 - 8:18 AM Permalink
Clue Master

Thought so - I don't really need HD but have to pay for it anyway.  Kinda sad.

Thu, 03/03/2005 - 8:21 AM Permalink
OTiS

Yeah... I think Comcast gets tired of paying for new cable boxes that are missing features every couple years. It won't be long before most people have HD anyways. So I think they just said do it in one shot.

Plus TV's now adays are silver and not black. Hence the box style change.

I've been waiting to network ... a computer in every room. Could be done.

So I have an old digital package for $89.99 (no longer available) that includes Starz! and an extra box for $1.00

Traded in my taped up remote (heh) for a fancy new SILVER one, got a list of packages and ala carte prices. The internet special is $33.99 for three months, then $42.99 plus $3.00 for modem rental.

I think we're paying for a whole BUNCH of channels we never watch. I don't watch TV, but if we only need the standard, I can get that and internet for about what I'm already paying.

Yee-Ha
