Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Did you notice the new Note at the top? Are they telling us not to dig at the library?

If I was out looking I would be looking at second base or a softball of baseball field...........

It would be nice to find out if Conway is scheduled for spring repairs. Highland is probably scheduled for repairs since they were hit so hard by the storm last May.

never ending - So far this hunt I've been to Newell, Palace, Linwood, Phalen , HP Como- I believe that is difinately not @ Conway

Hey Doc Sven: What happened to Newell and your garage logic? You're an idiot.

I have also been to Conway twice I was convinced for awhile but not so much now

Horndog99

well its just a guess but they said wrapped quite tight so maybe it is taped to the base in white tape and they said that two guys share it one and the same so

shortstop and second basemen. that also makes sense to the score and shout clues from before.......

Leah, I've been by Linwood, Newell, and HP lately and there only seems to be a few die hard hunters at those spots.

Did anybody else notice the water fountain shaped like a 4 at Conway? Very interesting to me.

Is Lake Phalen and Keller Lake of equal size?

Wed, 02/03/1999 - 9:46 AM Permalink

IT COULD BE BETWEEN THE 2 ICE RINKS. WHEN I LOOK EQUAL UP ON THE THESAURUS, IT STATES SIMILAR, ALIKE; NOT EXACT.

Hello gang!

I was at Conway til the wee hours and there are so many large chunks of snow and dug up piles of snow sitting on untouched snow...

Wed, 02/03/1999 - 9:47 AM Permalink
Horndog99

I think that Phalen is bigger but Im not sure

Horndog99- I like your theory, but I know that second bases at Conway have been dug up.

It's really hard to dig now. All the clumps are sooo icey.

I think we need a blow torch to melt the stuff.

Nick- My hunting partner and I drew up a little map of Conway last night. We strolled all over the park and never saw a fountain.

Sorry Leah, I'm still pretty convinced that it is at Conway. Many times it goes to the last few clues and the park is totally torn up. Someone still manages to find it. I

don't have the time left to dig in many parks so I'll stick with my best bet, Conway.

I'm too frustrated with this computer so I guess it's time to get out and hunt.

Good luck everyone. Post us a message if you are the lucky hunter. Or just say "Hi" to all your chat room friends when you are interviewed by the PP.

I saw a drinking fountain, I guess I didn't notice if it was shaped like a four or not. Is it obvious, or do you have to really look?

The medallion is in Conway, but its not near the hockey rinks. I knew something was wrong when I realized the rinks were no where near the same size. Plus the

clue seemed way too easy compared to all the other clues. If I had started digging up the snow there, I'd be quite pissed right now. But I can also tell you, the two

frozen objects are not things in the park. Rather they give you a clue as to what to look for in the park.

hey all... im off to conway... good luck to all that are there and if you are there before 2pm today look for me... blue/black jacket, white tshirt wrapped on arm, nike

hat, white dog with brown spots... and i'll be cursing away at the ground below me

MedallionStallion

Hey Everyone, Stalion here-

This is really turning out to be quite a dramatic ending!!!!

I'm glad I got my sleep last night cause I can be out late tonight!!!

Anyone know when they stop the hunt if the medallion hasn't been found?

Wed, 02/03/1999 - 10:01 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Whoops, I meant frozen places are not places in the park, or even in Minnesota for that matter.

Wed, 02/03/1999 - 10:01 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Hey medallionstallion. They end the hunt Thursday night at midnight, but it will be found by then. It may even be found this afternoon if my theory is right, or may be

found already if the guy digging at my spot when I left got lucky.

They stop the hunt Thurs. at midnight if the medallion is not found

Alison- Email me with a little more specific clue. I don't want you to give it away, but I like your logic and want to be able to figure this one out on my own . ..

No, neither frozen place is in Minnesota. But if you can figure them out, you'll have a very good idea of where to look.

I was out from 10:30 to about 1AM. Just enough time to watch the swarm. But the whole clue really bothered me and didn't seem to makes sense. Frozen planes

couldn't be any thing other than the hockey rinks, yet they weren't the same size. Plus that seemed just way too easy compared to the other clues. So mostly I just

watched and poked around a little. When I got home I logged in here and found out that the clue said PLACES instead of PLANES. After thinking about it for a

while I figured it out, had a pretty good idea where the medallion was and went back around a quater to five. Unfortunately the hard snow made it difficult to dig and

with no sleep I soon got tired and eventually left at about 9 this morning. I still think I know where it is though.
