It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.
FOOLED YA
That's how I spell my name you diggin fool!
Like I said I never searched before and couldn't believe all the maniacs when I got there. I was there for about 10-15 min when I seen it.
I do wish everybody could have found it and I did luck out. But isn't that usaually how it happens?
I was upset at a guy out there who started bad mouthing me when I wasn't digging!!!
I don't think it was Aaron writing those earlier messages. It is darn easy to say you're him. On a side note, I say we should get together next year before the hunt and
Those medaling kids...we will probably do that again too. This year we had a prehunt bash at Patrick McGovern's on the 23rd of January. Next year we'll need to
find a bigger place. Our early predictions were Phalen...and because it wasn't there this year, I predict it for next!
Heh, we met last night... just a short distance from the medal!! And I have to look at things before I make my prediction for next year's hiding place... :)
Hey, I was at the capital Mall, Newell, and Park between History Center and Vo-Tech, but havn't been able to hunt since Monday night....waiting for arrival of 10th
grandchild and I'm on call, Sunday will all depend on my daughter and if she has the baby or not. This has been fun, and thank you for asking....maybe I WILL be
Okay, the medallion hunt is over and I can deal. I know the rest of you hearty souls can, too. So what's next? Maybe a bock hunt in New Ulm in less than two
weeks? Check Cooler Crew - Bock tomorrow afternoon for more info.
Congrats to the goombahs (said in best good-natured tone of jealousy) that found the medallion. You'll be St. Paul legends for eternity. And as much as I loathe you
right now, I'll do my best to make sure that's so at Cooler Crew - Medallion.
I figured out why I can never find the dumb thing,it's cause I always have a button. It seems like whoever finds it never has the button. I'm not gonna buy one next
No spot for certain yet...but probably Battle Creek. We are checking on the availability and all that. We will post here when we know...probably more than once.
Lets see....ski jumps that aren't there...red things high in the sky...I'm not very good at prose. I think we will post the park and skip the clues! LOL!!!!!!
Those Medalling Kids: Too funny! It'd be good practice for next year! It was great meeting you and Sethmon last night! Looking forward to seeing you at (insert
A blonde wanted to go treasure hunting. She'd seen many books on the subject, and finally, after getting all the necessary "tools" together, she made for the nearest
frozen lake. After positioning her comfy footstool, she started to chop the ice Suddenly---from the sky---a voice boomed, "THERE is no TREASURE UNDER
THE ICE!" Startled, the blond moved further down the ice, poured a Thermos of cappuccino, and began to chop yet another hole. Again, from the heavens, the
voice bellowed, ""THERE is no TREASURE UNDER THE ICE!" The Blond, now quite worried, moved way down to the opposite end of the ice, set up her stool,
and tried again to chop her hole. The voice came once more. ""THERE is no TREASURE UNDER THE ICE!"
She stopped, looked skyward, and said, "Is that you, Lord?" The voice replied, "No, this is the Manager of the Ice Rink!"
Kitchica: There will be a re-hash bash this Sunday at 11:30am, probably at Battle Creek, but watch this board for an announcement of the location!!! The re-hash
bash is an opportunity to meet your new online friends face-to-face, and to figure out why we read so much more into the clues than what was actually there!!! Hope
I also think frozen places of equal size should still be North Pole/South Pole leading you to the utility poles running north and south amid the park. That made sense
to me, especially with the trees ins a line (trees are slang for utility poles) that led to the TRUE VALUE sign. When I saw that I thought the clue writer was a genius.
Now I think he's a dork. And another thing, SunRay does have two peaks. Why didn't he just say that? The peak of the rec center fit it better. It was only one peak

each as you would a clue (you clue reading bunch you are), as rocketgirl #20699 describes its not for the faint of heart.
Who here hopes Common-Man[part of the "flirty, eleven-thirty"(copyright Paul Allen) a.k.a. K-F-A-N 1130am "The sports leader"] has an off-day today and
goes through one of his should-be-patented melt-downs?
it is disappointing that someone who apparently joined the game in the 4th quarter wound up victorious, but it's the risk we all take. his loss though, he could have
doubled his money if he was a die hard like us!
see y'all next year! think positive! it's been fun and LoL until 2000!
Congratulations Aaron on finding the medallion. It was fun hunting for the medallion again this year. To bad there couldn't be more than one winner. But that is the
way it is. Hope to meet you at the torch light parade this year.
I could work on that. In between figuring out what I'm bringing on Sunday and trying to get my house back in order. Things sure do go downhill during the hunt.
Yeah Terry, you're right. I mean heck, we now have to go back to work and school, and actually concentrate on what we're doing? Where's our distraction? On the
plus side, we've gotten rid of those individuals who detracted from the cooler chat...
And now that we've met face to face....we'll find other opportunities to get together during the year. It was fun meeting you last night. Good luck with the studies and
see you Sunday!
Eags - That was wonderful!!!!
All - I need my sleep. Back to the real world tomorrow.
I don't know who wrote the clues, but it was obviously not done by anyone with a creative mindset. The clues should take ingenuity and inteligence to decipher, not
simply a street map. Each clue should lead you closer to the treasure, not simply restate the park. Truthfully, your clues would have been much more creative and
interesting had they been applied to Newell Park. Examples: Clue 3 Numbers keep score and adorn the front door Now do your best to figure these out a Nine and
a Five and somewhere a Four Get these right and you'll shout! Meaning: Address on the corner of Taylor and Fairview has a 9 and 5, and somewhere in the park is
a tree shaped like a four.
Clue 7 Somewhere in here there's a clue quite clear If you think first of trees in a line from this a name will appear that could lead you to a valuable sign. Meaning:
East side of Newell park along Wheeler has trees that have grown up into a power line(trees in a line). This power line leads you to Hewitt Ave(A name will
appear). Follow Hewitt down to Fairview and bolted to a pole is a sign for earning dollars at home with cash bonus(valuable sign).
I could go through all of the clues, but I'm getting more upset by the minute thinking about the moron who wrote those insipid clues.
Call me bitter Call me what you will, I'm not a quitter I must drink some swill.
Good night Terry. Thanks about the studies. Perhaps I'll see your daughter(?) at the U, although I would never know it. Can't wait to meet the rest of the faces

take bets on what park it will be in.
T AND T WHAT ABOUT SOME ACURRACY IN THE CLUES THE PEAK IS NOT TRANSLUCENT IT IS TRANSPARENT !!!!!! THE NUMBERS DO
NOT ADORN THE FRONT DOOR THEY ARE ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR !!!!! AND LAST CLUE #11 IS THE WORST CLUE IT TAKES YOU
FARTHER AWAY FROM THE TREASURE!!! ARENT WE TRYING TO GET CLOSER PLEASE HAVE MORE ACURRATE CLUES NEXT YEAR !!
PLEASE

Question? does everyone know everyone here...like personally?
Grandma....Nope....but some of us have met after last year's hunt. Can you make it on Sunday to the rehash bash at 11:30?
We have met some new people this year out in the field at Conway, Newell and the Capitol Mall. This year we were all over the place!
Heh, we met last night... just a short distance from the medal!! And I have to look at things before I make my prediction for next year's hiding place... :)
Hey Terry!
I'll say it again...
Life off-line is something quite new
Especially if you're a member of the Cooler Crew
The jig is up, they found the puck
Say it together , "What the @#$%!"
My shovel is broke and my ice pick is dull
I fell on my butt and fractured my skull
I'm not ten grand richer but i'm not all that sad
While hunting our quarry great fun has been had
So stowe your gear and put together a plan
Like a loyal St. Paul Winter Carnival fan
Do not pout and don't you fear
They'll hide it once again next year
See you all next year!
Alan & Jill

Those medaling kids...we were very close last night! It was great meeting you. You coming on Sunday?
Grandma - I do hope you can make it...good luck with the new Grandchild. I'm grandchildless yet....but one of these years.
Newk2...You coming on Sunday? We'd love to meet you!
Is the prize going to be only 4,000 again next year?
I guess we'll have to wait and see.
What about the 12th clue? Don't they usually give it anyway?
Okay, the medallion hunt is over and I can deal. I know the rest of you hearty souls can, too. So what's next? Maybe a bock hunt in New Ulm in less than two

It has always been given in the paper. I wonder if it will appear on the Planet tomorrow with a map pinpointing the spot.
Hi Greg! Have you sent button art yet? Great meeting you this weekend. It was one of the highlights from this year's hunt.
No grandchildren for me, but then again I am only 22. Terry, I should be there. The site hasn't been determined yet, has it?
I figured out why I can never find the dumb thing,it's cause I always have a button. It seems like whoever finds it never has the button. I'm not gonna buy one next
year, maybe I'll have better luck then!
No spot for certain yet...but probably Battle Creek. We are checking on the availability and all that. We will post here when we know...probably more than once.
Now are you going to post the park, or are you just going to leave clues as to which park its in? :)
Which park whats in?
Lets see....ski jumps that aren't there...red things high in the sky...I'm not very good at prose. I think we will post the park and skip the clues! LOL!!!!!!
Those Medalling Kids: Too funny! It'd be good practice for next year! It was great meeting you and Sethmon last night! Looking forward to seeing you at (insert
name of public park here) Sunday!!!

The 2nd annual rehash bash this Sunday at 11:30 am. Park to be confirmed in the next day or so. Conway has not the facilities for a picnic. :(
Everyone's invited. E-mail green if you can make it and let her know what you'll be bringing. It's a pot-luck type thing.

Just write a bunch of sentences that rhyme, but start the sentences by spelling out Battle Creek... :)
dont know wether to laugh or cry im glad its over i can actually sleep at night now :P
whats the story on there anouncement here he was awarded 5,000 because he wasnt wearing a button is how its written ...
but does that mean he doesnt own one or do they bumrush you apon finding it too make sure you dont go find a friend with a button too get the extra ?

You said "teste"
Again I say
FUN....
Could someone, if they have it, post Clue 12? for some reason i can't get back to previous messages
nevermind, i found it.

Anybuddy want to see what Clue #13 might have been???
Clue Number 13:
You're almost there, you're getting close,
If you're in Conway Park,
You've traveled the full circle,
You've searched from dawn to dark.
Stand in the northwest corner,
You'd better hurry fast,
Get over all your thinking that
You're an iconoclast.
The throngs are pressing closer,
They see the four-five-nine,
They'll soon be getting ruthless,
'Cause they see trees in a line.
So hurry, grab your shovel,
Your chopper and your hoe,
And stand midway 'tween tree and bench,
You've now not far to go.
Now dig a bit, and hope a lot
That you're not being watched...
You'll find the long-sought treasure,
All wrapped in something crotched.
