That awesome CM!.......I should really get back into photography. I took second place in a contest in college. I guess I've been scared off with all the digital technology. But I still have a Canon Rebel EOS SLR camera I haven't gotten used to yet.

Currently starting a to do list for the weekend. :ooh:

Thanks Tates & L4V. They have a digital Rebel now that works just like your SLR. That should help you get started.

Here's another one I might submit. It's a screen shot of WeatherBugs fall album. They picked 4 of mine. 2 of which shouldn't have been picked over some others but oh well. They did pick 2 fall color shots of Alibabas that I liked for their Autumn 2005 album.

I can't miss the colors down there OT since I need to get an annual shot of the kid on a rock not to far from that bridge every year. It's a special day for just her and I. She's learned to be a ham since she's had a camera shoved in her face since before she was born.

I oughta go through some of my old photos, seem to remember taking a few out at phalen a few years back after an ice storm... obviously they're no good for any contests, but I thought they were cool pictures.

If they can't afford an e-mail address I won't waste my time. That's the lamest photo contest entry I've seen. I only have one 8x10 and it's my kids school picture. I don't have any 8x12s.

you don't have to mail, you can drop them off at any national camera.

8 x 12 is for the digital camera folk. the photos easily crop to 8 x 12. to crop a digital camera format to 8 x 10 is to lose a portion of the image.

they display the winners at the store, hence why no email.

There's actually one a block from my work but I just don't understand why they can't print out the three winners themselves. Is the contest per store or is it for all of them? I suppose I could print it on some regular paper but it wouldn't do the picture justice then.

It's for all the stores together. Each stores send the entries to the main Golden Valley location for judging, and then each store displays the winners.

You're right, $100 isn't that big of deal, it's just something I do because I've got time and I've got a ton of pictures that I might as well try to get something with!

I saw a wonderful photo-op yesterday. Drove past a woman who was leaning on a rake which she had used to rake up a huge pile of leaves. She was staring up at a tree that still had hundreds of leaves still hanging on.

did you have your window down? she was probably cursing the tree out too....

I did that yesterday when I raked up the backyard....
