The last time it was in Highland, they more or less announced it in the fifth clue with the hint "seek elevated terrain". If they don't do something similar tomorrow or the following night, its not there. (Como was named in the 4th clue a few years back).

Exactly, if they don't name the park tomorrow night its time to narrow it down to the smaller parks

That makes sense, Allison, especially since both Como and Highland are huge.

Highland doesn't look that big when you remove the golf course, but go out there with a shovel and you'll feel overwhelmed very quickly.

Even with the North references, it could not be north st paul>?

Red DOG

where did the north reference come fom anyway? King Boreas was king of all four winds. According to the legend, not just the north

Satchel - clue #1 locks in the City of St. Paul

pizzadude - here's the skinny...The PP hasn't posted it yet, no one knows why. Derick Davis has a web site (www.medallionhunt.8m.com) where he has posted the clue. He posted it at 11:20....He says he had a friend pick up a paper at the PP. Some people aren't sure, they wanna see it on the PP site to believe it. *whew*

Duff - not tired of hunting, tired of walking over it year after year.

As much as I really think they'd put it in a big park this year due to the increase in cash, I have to agree that the park should be named soon else it'll be a small one.

Last year they waited until saturday night to pinpoint the park and two years ago I think I was at Cherokee on Friday so were getting close

Part of me says I should go dig tonight. Another part says I'm crazy. I think I'll listen to the part that says I'm crazy and wait until after my birthday party tomorrow. I knew letting my family wait to have it until this week would be a pain!

the reason people pull north out of boreas is because the actual root of the word itself means north (think of aurora borealis aka northern lights).

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 1:27 AM Permalink
Treasure Hunti…

You are crazy to think about digging now.

I can agree with that, my sister had the 459 thing figured out last year and I refused to admit that they would tell us exactly where it was like that, I am still used to the old clues, very vague as to location in the park

I feel that the only way it could be at a small park now is if we misinterpreted tonight's clue. Picnic shelters are really only in the larger parks.

Treasure Hunti…

That's a very good point, S-dog.

There are picnic TABLES in all the parks but not actual SHELTERS.

Newell is pretty small, and I am sure there are a few out there with them.

I'm hitting the hay. Thanks for the good noodling tonight!

the 459 bit last year was pretty unique. Several people may have thought of it, but how many house addresses have a 4,5 and 9? Those also could have been on a billboard, or anything else. Once you SAW 459 Ruth, especially after the baseball reference, only then it became abuntantly clear.

Well if it is at a larger park then we should at least get a street name on clue #5, I have to get some rest as well, big weekend coming up

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 1:33 AM Permalink
Red DOG

the clue doesn't say picnic shelters--1985 in kellogg, the clues spoke of thunder (rain) and seeking shelter nearby--the meaning of the clue refered to the raddison hotel

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 1:34 AM Permalink
Treasure Hunti…

"relief from the rain" and "get you cooking" suggest a picnic shelter with a grill.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 1:36 AM Permalink

Could be trees or restrooms for all that matters

Allison said that the Treasure Hunter's Guide only lists Cherokee, Como, Crosby, Hidden Falls, Highland, Mounds, Newell and Phalen. We've since only been able to add Battle Creek and Harriet Island. Harriet Island is out, due to construction. I have a bad feeling about HIdden and Crosby, due to limited viewing capabilities of towers to the North, because of the steep embankment.

Cooking could be many things. Even Rice.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 1:36 AM Permalink

could mean any type of shelter--i thought of picnics and grils too.

What works for me is to NOT read too much into each clue.

There is usually one good idea in each clue, with other allusions that make sense only after the hunt.

Yes, we could get relief from the rain in the park bathrooms, but then how will we find relief from the horrid stench?

I agree that it may serve us well to explore other meanings to this clue, besides picnic shelters. After all, the clue begs of us that we read it well.
