Ongoing Snowflake Days events include the 2006 medallion hunt and a snow sculpture contest.

The medallion hunt will begin Friday, Feb. 3 and continue until the medallion is found. Clues will be posted at several local businesses with the prize awarded Saturday, Feb. 18 at a post-parade reception at the Coon Rapids VFW.

I guess I'm going to try more for the North St. Paul hunt, which I think is going on at the same time.

Oddly enough last year I bought the last one at a place for that hunt (guess that makes me the last button buyer for both roseville and north st. paul last year)... trying to remember the name of the place... Silver Lake Market?

Trouble with small town hunts, it's hard to find places that sell buttons, but if you're on to them early enough, usually they can be found at the local city hall.

haha...

I always forget about the city hall factor, until it comes to the smaller hunts... most of them, thats where you can get maps of the city as well as pick up clues, in some cases...

Just heard you can buy them at figgaro's pizza (it's in the strip mall behind taco john's across the street from target).

I'll get one on Tuesday, as pizza is cheaper then, and it's good pizza.

small town hunts, almost harder to find a buttton than it is the medallion...

I bet no one even knew Oakdale had a button (not that it has any effect on the prize value), but I got one.

If these places keep making it for "medallion bucks" they might all become keepers anyways...

I know i would have kept that Rosemount one, had I come accross that one.

heck, if figaros is selling buttons, they're most likely honoring medallion bucks.

I expect if I find the thing, I'll be eating well for quite some time...

heh....

that is true...

they got good grub there...

It would be cool if Target honored them...

I'd probably use the full $500 on something in the electronics section, like 10 minutes after I got it.

wonder if any place in north st. paul sells metal detectors? I've been considering buying one for a while, but don't really want to pay the $$$ they want for em.

I've been looking at a few different detectors. I heard that "Whites" brand ones are some of the best available. Then again, who knows?

And I'd be happy to pick you up a button, least I can do for that 98 and the 06 hunter button ya gave me.

I've been wanting to get one too. I saw something on one of the learning channels about finding treasure on the beaches in Florida. Real treasure, from sunken pirate ships. Everytime there is a storm, more gold gets washed up on shore. Not to mention all the money, watches, jewelry, etc. you can find. One guy found a Rolex.

they're probably bragging. Takes a lot of time to search for stuff. Easier in the sand though, if only I lived on a beach...

I heard a little about this on the radio...why does work always want to get in the way of me having fun?

the odds are way too bad on this. Might as well buy a lottery ticket. Biggest problem is if I even wanted to take a chance at it, I should probably already be in line...

Seems like the kind of publicity deal that all the stores pull the day after thanksgiving, and those crazed bargain hunters always have bought out while you're still in bed sleeping.

good point, but you could at least look around the store in the meantime...it's kind of fun out there
