Sorry my messages are posting 50 million times. I am actually not an idiot, but....
So I was just doing some research on Indian Burial Grounds. First of all, would they put it there?? Isn't that kind of disrespectful? Secondle, if they did, this is what I got: Tennis courts-ace, Metro Airport Commission Beacon Tower, Holman Field Airport-ace. It's definitely got the tower and ace thing going. Not sure if there are picnic grounds though. Ideas?
lillian, I heard form someone that one year on a radio show a guy who lived by Highland park come home from work one day in September and said there was a man walking around in the park and he was hanging around a certain tree. As it turns out that year the medallion was found there. So it looks like they hide it sooner than we think.

My first instinct is that the med is in a BIG park this year with the award again at $10K.
But last year they surprised us with Conway. I'm not sure that they won't do something similar again. So far, most all of the larger parks have at least a couple of things going for them. Tonight's clue (hopefully) should have it narrowed down to only a few.
And I hope for my sanity the %$#%^$# clue actually gets posted on the WC ON TIME!!
I swear, it said "Wednesday" last night (or more accurately, early this morning) when I was hitting the "reload" button furiously waiting for clue 4 to be posted.
has anyone noticed that the clue says, "some placES to gain relief?" Most of the parks have one pavillion. They're talking plural. Besides, i think a pavillion is too easy....think
I thought the trip thing was at midnight on the 31st (monday)? am I misinformed? Also, I've been thinking about the "relief from the rain" as well and wonder if it refers to the flood plains at Hidden Falls or a storm drain at another park. Several have them. thoughts, anyone?
Mom, hit "STB" for a message I left there for you and Dad.
Mom, I'm w/you. I could *swear* I saw tonite, too - someplace - but just today I read ittiz Thursday nite... Beats me. I'm totally clueless and in the dark! :)
There will be nightly contests at the Pioneer Press building starting at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Thursday: "Touch of the Tropics"
Come to the Pioneer Press lobby at 345 Cedar Ave. in St. Paul between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. dressed in tropics attire for a chance to win one of 25 round-trip tickets to any Sun Country domestic destination. One lucky winner will be awarded an all-inclusive trip to a SuperClubs resort in Jamaica.
have some thought on Harriet....It's still too early though That's a good thought, I have a few other ideas, about previous clues, that could point to that spot.
Green - saw your message a couple days ago. Thanks, but I don't think either of us is into those pepper-spices enough to have that much in the house. I tend to go for the curry-type spices...although I do enjoy good mexican/southwestern cooking.
What's the deal on the trip thing again? I think it's kind of too bad that Pioneer Press is commercializing it with Sun Country or who ever's giving away the trip. Next thing it will be the Pepsi Medallion Hunt or something.
...not that I wouldn't partake if I won, but.... it's just the principal.
BAIA, it seems the concensus izz that Harriet's too dug up and too much going on there - they're redoing the entire park or something - for The Med to be hidden there.
well, that COULD be, but I was hinkin something last year, after witnessing,(and taking part in),the destruction at Conway. I was thinking that maybe this year they will hide it some place that Is going to be redone or is already in the process....it's perfect, as long as there isn't actual construction going on RIGHT NOW. Anyone else know anything that's happening with Harriet?
Harriet has been closed much of the summer - at least the playground portion. It has been undergoing some major remodeling. Much of the construction equipment is still there, but I don't think anything is being done through the winter...
Show up in "tropics attire" from 11:30 p.m. Thursdayto 12:30 a.m. Friday at the Pioneer Press lobby at 345 Cedar St. for a chance to win one of 25 round-triptickets to any Sun Country domestic destination. For details on the contest, the latest Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt clues, the complete Winter Carnival schedule and maps of parade routes, visit the Winter Carnival page.
There is a nice biking path, there, and bbqs, of course the pavillion. It was only 4 years ago that it was hidden there.
I like the w-a-r-s anagram/Battle Creek theory, too. But I don't suspect it would be there again so soon either. Also, it was just on the East Side last year, not likely to be so close to last year's spot. If they *were* to do an East side park this year, my guess would be Phalen.
really like the sweed hallow referece to the vikings depression, but because of the lack of future knowledge of the vikings defeat, i doubt that could be it, but what parks are in the sweed hallow area?
Don't believe there is any shelter or grills, but there is a bike trail (set your own pace). It is too small to even be ON most maps - the closest major park would probably be Mounds.
It seems WAY too obvious to put the name of the park in the 1st clue: Vikings = Swede Depression = Hollow
well it mostly likly wont be downtown, it most definitly wont be at mounds, and i dont know of anything else, other than recreational parks in the area. i think the stle of thinking for the person that mentioned it though

Well we know it is in or near a picnic shelter with a bar-b in it.
Or packed in a frozen meat pattie. Mmmm.... gets us cooking!

Oh yeah - That's tonight. Hmmm. Could actually get the clue before midnight *AND* maybe win a trip at the same time!
No, that is tomarrow night. Thurs 11:30 PM to Fri 12:30 AM
Is the trip thing tonight? What about the concept of the medallion being hidden in the actual BBQ pit.
Or packed in a frozen meat pattie. Mmmm.... gets us cooking!

BAck At It Again,
Don't forget the year it was at Harriett (sp?) island!

The trip thing MUST be a nightly thing.

Never say never!

the only ones in that area, would be IT, Mounds, and the parks downtown..
as far as I can remember, I used to hang out at Swede Hollow when I was a kid, there are no grills or picnic areas. Unless they've redone it...
Don't believe there is any shelter or grills, but there is a bike trail (set your own pace). It is too small to even be ON most maps - the closest major park would probably be Mounds.

And there IS a double arched bridge that runs over/under 7th street...you could certainly get out of the rain there.
don't know, they'd do anything at any time...that's what I'm starting to believe..hehe
Anyone know anything about Newell? Are there any police stations, pavillions, towers, airports or churches around?
BIG
OL
forgot about the bridge, perfect...but not really towers
