Judge Won't Let 'God' Sign Driver's License

READING, Pa. (April 7) - Regardless of how he had signed a stack of other documents, from bank records to income tax returns, a judge rejected a man's request to be allowed to legally sign his driver's license as "God."

Berks County Senior Judge Forrest G. Schaeffer ruled Thursday that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation could require the man to sign his given name, Paul S. Sewell, and said documents he had signed in the past didn't prove differently.

"The so-called name you want to apply is rather a series of scribbled marks and don't establish any name at all," Schaeffer said. Sewell, 40, said he would appeal.

Sewell said he is a self-employed bond enforcement agent and began using the signature because fugitives always prefaced their comments with, "Oh, God," when he captured them.

In some cases one late payment to a credit card company can jack up your rates too. Kinda sad that it's the only company in the world that can jack up your rates after you already bought something.

mine was to Khols ---- I just plain forgot about them--- and I was closing the account anyhow. They don't raise the rates ---I asked. They said Minnesota is always a flat rate, I think it was 19% - I usually pay them within the month so I don't get charged anyhow -I just used the card at Christmas to get the extra discounts and then forgot :frown: --- I was 30 days late but they knocked the late fee off IF I paid them right then on the phone ---the kicker was they charge $10 to pay by phone! BWAH! so $15 off.

But regular credit cards and house payments WILL NOT BE LATE in my book!

I used to be late with payments, just cause I hated to process/mail the payments in. I always had the money, I just hated writing checks. So now my wife does it and I'm never late. Course I never have any money now either.

I went back again and finally seen your guess. Each week had a new set of guesses. You're only listed in the week that you actually guessed. We're all in there. You guessed the same as my Big Uncle Butch (Lou) They had a huge turn out this year. Nothing in this weeks paper yet. I would have assumed that the ice would have went out quite a while ago with how warm it's been.

The ice went out on Sturgeon Lake on Wednesday, April 12th. Ely would have to be after that.

ON FRIDAY MORNING, Shagawa Lake showed stripes of open water amid the black ice which still stretched across the length and breadth of the lake. Sea gulls hopped along the edges of the ice looking for an easy meal. Winds were expected to be about 20 miles per hour in the afternoon with temperatures over 60 degrees - all part of the formula to create "ice out" on the city-side lake. Photo by Anne Swenson

A guy at Home Depot told me about that place and I've been there several times. Great prices, but mostly one of a kind items. I bought my new garage entry door there.

Edited to add: They charge a "recovery fee" and don't accept checks.

How it works.

When subjected to the algorithm, all of the numbers between 99 and 90 always yield 81; those between 89 and 80 always yield 72; those between 79 and 70 yield 63 and so on, with additional solutions at 54, 45, 36, 27, 18, 9.

While all symbols are changed with each new game, the game associates the same symbol with each of the numbers which constitute special solutions of the algorithm. The crystal ball "divines" that symbol which happens to be associated with all those privileged numbers in each game. The multitude of symbols, plus the varying numbers and random placement of each (except those in association with the nine privileged numbers) effectively masks the trick.

Why is this interesting?

On a principle analogous to " all sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic," the Flash Mind Reader offers a thrill until you figure it out. This trivial game is an amusing and easily soluble riddle which nevertheless points out the danger of assuming paranormal explanations for other, more opaque phenomena. Paranormal solutions should be grasped at only if extraordinary evidence forces us to.

And if someone recognizes the number when you give it to them, just say "well then you obviously get the point since you've been rejected enough times to memorize the number"
