When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap.

Will--just to the east of Lafayette bridge on E 7th street--small parking lot there. then you walk through a railroad tunnel, and voila--your in the park--nothing, including the medallion is there, i think. Does have some righteous cell towers nearby, and Swede hollow cafe has good carmel rolls. Bridge only shelter from rain, no playground, no tennis courts, just walking and bike paths, and Phalen creek...

Thu, 01/27/2000 - 9:23 PM Permalink
Terry

Yup. The capital mall does have it's memories...good and bad.

Thanks Dave, I didn't think it was there. Just read about it in a few St. Paul history books and always wanted to know where it was. Now it looks like a new cafe to try out.

Yea, but it makes for a great story. Have we ruled out Highland yet? I was there last night. A few hearty souls out pondering the grounds.

Hey Dave, theres a creek called Phalen in Suede Hollow? You know i wouldnt be surprised if that "WARS" Thing leads you to believe battle "CREEK" and then maybe the next clue have Something to do with phalen. Then i would be going to Suede Hollow to look for it

cosmo cat- what I meant about the political parties is that they meet at the capitol. Get it? They are opposites, but there they must meet; it attracts them. Does that make any more sense?

Hey Diggin'- didn't get you email. Mine is really slow tonight so don't have your number - just tried to email you mine.

Yes, rob. Swede Hollow was a neighborhood of tar paper shanties until the early 50's when it became so run down that the city tore it down. All adresses were listed as "Phalen Creek Parkway", and the creek is still there. It's in the shadow of the former Hamm's/Olympia/Pabst/Stroh's brewery--but none of this fits anything, as I see it.

swede hollow is a fairly large park that is "due," but doesn't fit the clues. I would count on it being a park to watch in the next few years, but not this year.
