Oh, so- No No to Como?
I had fun pretending it was at Indian Mounds though! :goofy:
Got out several times and saw a part of the park I didn't even know about before.
Unfortunately, running out there on my lunch time is not worth the gas spent.
I just wish I was able to get out RIGHT NOW and look!
:frown:
Or dress appropriately so that you have something nice on when you have to take off your heavy clothes and put on the sweatshirt they give you?
I even planned on who was going to ride in the shopping cart with me for the parade.
Shouldn't it be up?
Speaking of down...I'm going to hit the sheets and figure out how I'm going to get out there tomorrow or if I'll have to wait till evening.
Goodnight, SCDs and happy, safe hunting!
Or a Private Investigator who is going to have some very good news to give to a suspicious wife - her husband is NOT having an affair - he's hunting the medallion!
Grandbabies in a shopping cart is a cute idea, OT.
Goodnight x 2!
The Mystery of Zephy's Missing Medal
Zephy's lost his medal and it's made him sad
There 'twas but one choice that he had
In order to best solve this mystery
He flagged down the coolerest kids in history
His own kids, a lil' roaster and Sarah
Tommy and Joey, as well as another Sarah
Natalie was Diggin' Dom with Hannah and Emmy
Meg saw this one guy with Lisa n' Amy
Warning, whatta peanut that lil' Bella!
Beans? Who would eat 'em up but Alibaba?
Six siblings that might drive the weakest of people up a wall
I'd have to be outta my mind to remember the names of 'em all
Two little girls couldn't make it- blame Kitch
There were twins but I couldn't tell which was which
Those medalling kids got there in a mystery machine
A mystery it travelled with no one over sixteen
It wasn't Tim the hunter or Regman, Kollin or Kris
Since they're too old to be a part of this
Zephy told the junior hunters that if they were smart
Paying respect to his brothers was the best way to start
Explanation:
The obvious clue in this one is the last two lines. Zephy's brothers in this instance are Boreas and Titan. At the starting point of the story, there are two rocks engraved to the memory of a former King Boreas and Titan. The starting point is the arboretum, which is referenced at "would eat'em". Arbor being trees, wood. The end is also referenced with the use of "flagged down". The treasure is found underneath the flag at the end of the story.
Clue 2
On the search as they headed west
Some thought they were looking for a treasure chest
They didn't realize they were wrong
As they walked past windjammers and ding dongs
Adventures like in Alice in Wonderland or Harry Potter
Danced in their heads as they walked through water
Explanation:
I tell you to head west from the starting point. It was meant to help figure that the arboretum was where to begin, and that the clues would occur as you moved west. Windjammers and ding dongs come from the Celebration Walk in the arboretum. It is a brick road with names inscribed. They are mostly personal names, although Windjammers and Ding Dongs were the more unique names. Moving west from the arboretum, you walk through water in the sense that there is a path with water on both sides of it.
Clue 3
The kids got something from a scribe, it was a note
It was from Zephy, and this is what he wrote
"To do well you must beat around the bush and the rock
It will hit near home that beating the enemy's a race against the clock
Finding it both high and low will be true
Depending on your point of view
There are cable cones nearby which are unique
Remembering back will help you find what you seek
With these hints, finding it will be in the bag
There will be more though, so don't y'all nag"
THX, or thanks, was the last line
His abbreviation for it, was it a sign?
Explanation:
This clue tells you right where to look at the end. It doesn't fit in the linear sense, since it does pertain to the end. I wanted to give people a chance to find the treasure since Central is a big park. Beat around the bush and rock is because there were bushes around the flag and memorial. There was a rock/stone wall that surrounded the memorial. Rock was used because taking "rock" and the following word, "it", you get "rocket". There is a play rocket very near the treasure site. Hit near home refers to the homes near the spot, beyond the rocket. The treasure was both high, if you were standing behind the memorial on the ground below the stone wall, or low if you were on top of the stone wall or amongst the bushes. Cable cones anagrams to "bocce lanes". There are four bocce lanes within plain view from the treasure spot, and bocce is a pretty unique feature to the park system. "Remembering back" could help in two ways, both referencing the veterans memoial and that the treasure was in back of the memorial. The treasure was in a bag, thus "finding it in the bag".
Clue 4
Passing along a field of diamonds that are green
They imagined a winter carnival scene
Muck lucks on cold feet and parkas around frozen buttocks
Noodling clues illogically like a group of anti-Spocks
The kids thought ahead to the times when
They would be out with the old-timers digging for it again
Sneaking over a secret crossing they could almost taste the cocoa
Rosy cheeks framed their smiles as they tried not to go loco
Explanation:
This clue probably through some people off, and I apologize. I meant it to be softball fields, which there are a number of them after the path through the water. The other part to this clue was the secret crossing. Victoria runs through the park, and you'd have to cross it to continue on. Victoria's Secret is what would have helped you figured this clue out.
Continuing on they saw a valet from the Bible
Then just beyond were 24 rectangles that aren't pliable
Immeasurable rectangles and squares rise on top and around
Stopping atop the slight rise of trail they looked back around
They wished the map guy were there for his brain to pick
But their frustration in finding things stung worse than a wicked nick
Zephy told them before that if parts of this clue they could comprehend
It would lead them to the treasure in the end
Explanation:
A valet is someone whose job is parking, or parking cars. Lot is from the Bible. Thus a Biblical valet would be a parking lot, or parking car lot. The 24 rectangles that aren't pliable is the collection of rectangles that form the two tennis courts just past the parking lot. Rectangles and squares rise on top to form the net, and around to form the fencing enclosure. Taking the words pick and nick from the end of lines 5 & 6 gives you picnic, which there is a picnic shelter past the tennis courts. The last lines help you figure out where to look for the treasure in that there were picnic tables near the hiding spot, and a parking lot right next to the memorial.
Clue 6
As they went along the saw mom & pops watching kids play
At a playground for which many wanted to stay
The desire to swing and slide burned like a fire in the pit of their stomach
To cure their tunnel vision of ignoring the hunt they need the heimlich
Meeting a body of water the path forked and they heard mysical music
Using a TLC tune to choose which way to go was the trick
Zephy told them that an east-side digger would be searching for quite a spell
While a west-side hunter would be much closer to doing well
They split into two groups with the hopes that they might
Be the one that picked the path which was right
Explanation:
Obviously there is a playground next. On the opposite side of the path there is a large fire pit. Tunnel vision refers to the tunnel that is in the hill as a part of the playground area. The body of water the kids encountered is Bennett Lake. The TLC tune in question is "waterfalls". The song says "don't go chasing waterfalls". If you went towards the waterfall, you'd take longer to get to the treasure. If you went away from it, you'd take a shorter route to get to it. East side and west side diggers was to preclude people from focusing on the middle part of the park or the lake, and to keep going to the west side, which is closer to the final resting spot.
Clue 7
One group went right and passed a woman in a really strange chair
One kid said to another "I dig her dog, seeing it lick her lady's face there"
Someone sang the alphabet song, "H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O...."
Falling from above a bridge to underneath below
Explanation:
The really strange chair is an orangish bench that is oddly shaped. The dog reference fits in with the number of pet owners who walk their dog along the paths. The final clue was again the waterfall. The alphabet was sung from H to O, or H20 which is water, followed by the word falling. It started above a bridge, then worked its way underneath it.
Clue 8
One group ventured left while going over a card game
While others pretended they were Ares & Artemis of mythological fame
Bob Marley, king of Rastafaria, probably liked to get high
But couldn't fit into the lofted houses the kids could espy
Later they saw a sign of what lay below
Well I've channeled two animals to make a different one to know
Explanation:
Going over a card game was in fact bridge. There is a bridge that spans a small creek that leads to a small pond. The lofted houses were bird houses that were attached to poles that came from the lake, which you could see as you walked along the bridge and the path. As you walk along the path, you come to a sign. The two animals that you combine are a cat and a fish to make catfish, which channel catfish are in the lake, according to the sign.
The first group saw an electrifying high wire act
They were having a ball up in the air, that's a fact
One kid noticed a sunburn, looking at her red bare skin
"Me too" said another, "it's like an involuntary valentines pin"
They discussed the idea from Jake of remembering his salutation
Not wanting to train to give the pledge of allegiance to his Medallion Nation
Passing lots of sand not in box or on beach
Along the path they went, the goal more within reach
Explanation:
The electrifying high wire act is the electrical wires that span the lake overhead. Electrical wires that run along the north edge of the park have the colored balls on them. Train is referenced since there are train tracks that also run along the northern edge of the park. The sand not in box or in beach is the sand volleyball courts which you encounter further along the
path.
Clue 10
The other group knew the search was going down, down, down to the wire
And they pressed on because their hearts burned, burned, burned with desire
Tempted away by someone who wasn't a lil' man, but gigantic with a big "G"
They sang "Mr. Med hunter man, to keep me from hunting you couldn't pay me"
Further along they saw an unmoving show of "The Rose" on stage
It and the seats for viewing it were all red like rage
Explanation:
"down, down, down" and "burn, burn, burn" comes from Johny Cash's "Ring of Fire" song. There is a large ring of rocks for another firepit. The stage is the amphitheater alongside the lake. There is a large Rose on the ground at the center of the stage. The rose itself is red, as well as a number of benches which sit atop the hillside that looks upon the stage.
Clue 11
Both groups were wondering what was happening to their other peers
But before they could contemplate much they began to let out cheers
They met where you'd go for baiting and casting ills
Allured to get their prescription fills
"Mmm, what do we do next?" asked someone
The response was "we follow the path to glory and get this done"
They walked up the path towards the bathrooms and parking lot
Hoping they could find the elusive x that marked the spot
At first they thought they saw some saint tailgaters sitting near a car
But unless they were given coordinates of KCOGRN they were off very far
The kids did not have to be a professor like Leelabell to realize
That so close by lay the treasured prize
Explanation:
Peers refers to the fishing pier. The person who can help you with baiting and casting ills and prescriptions would be a fishing doc(k). Two ways to say the same thing. The path to glory was a path that led up a slight rise, past some bathrooms, somewhat towards the direction of the parking lot.
Clue 12
Remembering all that Zephy had said the cooler kids were able to deduce
The spot they were looking for, that a treasure it would produce
Along the path near the parking lot is a veterans monument
Searching along the inside edge of the stone wall the cooler kids went
In a small bag that was brown and had a weave
Within this bag, Zephy's medal someone did leave
The treasure was finally found at the base of Old Glory
And that is the happy ending to this treasure hunting story
Explanation:
Tells you where to go to find the treasure. Under the flagpole, along the inside edge of the stonewall was the treasure. It was in a brown woven bag, to help blend in with the wood products that covered it somewhat
a ton of cooler crew and friends, but I think we may have outnumbered non coolers tonight, hopefully that's a sign and we can complete the sweep.
now for the million dollar question: where in central?
the reason I ask is the last 2 lines seem to be written from roseville's perspective. "come on down" makes sense as a phrase if you are telling them to come to your place whether it be up or down geographically, simliar to when people "go up" to their cabin that is actually south of the cities. "our hunt" most likely refers to the pioneer press, but if it is read from the same perspective it could be referring to roseville's hunt.
not walking over it, and not peeing on it...
I'm picking the sucker up, this time.
