Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Recent Clues:

Clue #1 Congrats to the finder, to all a reminder
To hunt hard from first to last clues
Medallion I is history. Now a new mystery
Begins -- strap on your hunting shoes

To some its demented, for all unprecedented
But hunters’ thirst must be quenched
Tell sister and brother we’ve hidden another
In a park where a body can be benched

Our 2nd prize? Don’t laugh -- 10-thou cut in half
So get out there even if it’s snowy
And as a special bonus -- some might say an onus --
A meal with our own Clueless Joey

Good hunting to you, let this be the first clue
Think of a woodsy retreat
It won’t be so hard if you channel the bard
You’ll get warm and smell pretty sweet
Clue #2 If you\'re thinking big you\'re sure to dig
Near flora with growing pain
Winter or summer is never a bummer
A menagerie of fun wild or tame
Clue #3 Success on the third clue will never do
We had to stash a second
Round you go if you seek to know
Where swatters of orbs are beckoned
Clue #4: A walk in the park can be a lark
If cell phones are left at home
Heed the siren of your desirin\'
And do not revolt against this poem
Clue #5 Over hill and dale hit the trail
With a handy locating device
Fulfill your wishes like loaves and fishes
And put your victory on ice
Clue #6 A famous singer and a diamond dinger
Might put you oh so close to the spot
With the whites of your eyes you should look for the prize
Within this convenient plot
Clue #7 Don\'t turn up your noses at the city of roses
The home of the park that you seek
It\'s just north of town so come on down
Our hunt is not for the meek
Clue #8 Don\'t go mental just head for Central
Lexington Avenue will show you the way
Your spirits won\'t sag when you see the big flag
Into the trees you want to stray

Terry

Continue on Snelling north to Energy Park Drive exit.

At the bottom of the exit ramp turn left.

Follow Energy Park Drive past Lexington one block. That's where the lodge is.

Energy Park Drive changes to Front St on the east side of Lexington.

That's interesting. It matches the Shakespeare line better.

I noticed that too. Makes a bit of difference and their explanation of the clue sound better than the clue was originally.

Hahaha, not enough

That's alright though, I told em I hated writing the clues and hiding the darned thing, so I didn't want the job next year (even if I did get a bonus for the 2nd hunt going so long).

Besides, it sucks to not be able to hunt.

It sure makes a difference for people trying to make an anagram out of the clue.

And like leelabell said, makes it a direct reference to Shakespeare and not a bakery or something similar.

Hahahahaha.

And to think, they originally wanted to put the ice sculptures in an air conditioned tent at Harriet because they were worried they'd melt.

Don't like the weather in Minnesota? Wait 10 minutes!

Some visitors from Florida, who arrived at the MSP airport on one of more frigid January days (this was in the late 1990s and temps were well below zero), were excitd to see their 7-year-old son's reaction to his first experience with snow.

While some of us went to the gate to meet them, our driver waited in the van. She scooped some snow off a nearby guard rail, but it was so cold it fell apart in her hands and she couldn't make a snowball out of it. She then brought some snow into the car, warmed it up until it just started to melt, then made a snowball.

When she told the little boy about that, he was wide-eyed. After he returned home, he told his classmates, "It so cold in Minnesota they have to warm the snow up to make snowballs".

I still laugh when I think about that, cuz its so true!

I would say take west 7th to Lexington instead. The lodge is just a block east of Lexington and personally I think driving up Lexington is a lot easier than going up Snelling. When you get to Front St. you will see a Super America on the right and Gabe's by the park across the street on the left. Turn right and it's down one block on the right, a tall white building.

One thing that bugs me is when people find it and don't let anyone else know, like it's really going to start a riot. All those people spent an extra hour or hour and a half out there in the cold, risking who knows what in a mad dash because they didn't want to tell anyone. If I ever find it, everyone will know so that no one has to keep looking for something that isn't there.

I totally agree with that. When I got home that night and read that they found it before the clue came out I was pretty ticked. I truly doubt that anyone would be in danger by letting the other hunters know they found it.

The moral of the treasure hunting stories this year is to dig. It doesn't matter if it's clue 3, or a few minutes before the final clue. Just dig. You won't find the medallion if you don't.

I have the largest selection in the metro area and we're always game for some fun. I've got a couple regulars who sing the Pussycat Song and Ode To My Car. So that kinda tells you what kind of group we can have. (Another semi-regular tends to do "I'm a Blonde" by Julie Brown too)

I was glad we had a chance to use the conference thing anyway. Had we known that they found it before the last clue we never would have used it. Plus I always like the swarm. The adrenaline is a cool feeling. Any longer would have been pushing it though.

The pussy cat song is awesome! most kareoke people either don't have it or won't let you sing it. :eyeroll:

There are only a couple songs I outright won't allow. f*** her gently and At A Medium Pace. They really aren't all that funny overall and the couple times I have allowed them I've gotten ALOT of complaints. But, Ode to my car is 3 times the profanity, but people love it because just about everyone has had a car like that. As for the Pussycat song... I get older ladies (We're talking 50's & 60's) who are out in the crowd singing along at the top of their lungs! It's one of the few songs that stops the entire bar dead in it's tracks until the song is over. Everyone loves it.

Are they country tunes? I can't recall either of those. Looks like a lyric thread addition is coming just around the corner.

I do like the Rodeo song though. I'm not into Karoke but I would assume that song would be fun to sing.

Exactly. Think about how many of us were standing around that fire when they found it not even more than 50yds away.

My guess is that I could light up the background and we'd see a group of hunters volleying the med back and forth on their way out of those woods.

Ode to my car is Adam Sandler. Pussycat Song is Connie Valens, which is somewhat country. I'll find and post them  The other two I mentioned were f her gently (Tenacious D) and At A Medium Pace (Adam Sandler)

Ok, you're going to make me dig to find out if that's ever even been released on karaoke, because that doesn't ring a bell....

Ok, I'm not seeing that any Mason Williams songs have ever been release on karaoke checking KJPro.com and Musicbookdeluxe.com which together have the most extensive listing of karaoke discs, both current and discontinued.

I'm living proof of that.

I didn't find the medallion this year, and I didn't go out to look, even once.

Not a terribly great choice on my part, but the one I had to make this year.

I'd say there were around 400-500 on the wrong end of the park by where we were. And by the looks of that video, there were probably 200-300 by the fire area.

know what i think one of the best things about this hunt (aside from the new precendents and records that have been set)? new faces (or at least for the moment new names). we got new blood in the crew. and that's always a good thing!

I liked how our group thought we were the bomb because we chose to hang out at the swing instead of the fire to get the clue. Other than Iceman, who was stationed at the bridge, we were the first ones there. It was pretty cool seeing everyone converge from all over the park. There were some long hauls going on where people were too tired to dig once they finally got to the area. The wrong area that is

I guess that's one thing I haven't seen before. More people digging in the wrong area than there was in the right area. You're right, I don't feel so dumb after all.

A tip o'my cap to you Diver! Or did you have to look it up?

You can quit looking. As much as I like that song and sing it at the top o'my lungs, I R not gonna quit my day job. I can't carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it. Singing in public I don't do unless I won't be able to remember it the next day!

In their defense there was apparently a huge fight in the lexington parking lot right about the time they would have been leaving, I personally wouldn't have told strangers that I had found it because you just never know who's out there.

LOL, I had to look up the lyrics which gave me the singer, when I didn't find the song title, I switched to the singer and didn't find that either. Once KJPro and MBD bomb out for me, it's all over. If they don't list the disc then it's too obscure to even find for the average person.

As for singing, we got a couple people I could venture a guess would make you look good. If not them, then I can still garuntee I've heard worse! (Although, bite my tongue, the last time I told someone that, they actually proved me wrong.)

Personally, I would have tipped off the Police quietly and then made the dash to the vehicle and got out of there. Then the police, acting on having seen the actual medallion could have cleared the park.

ARTIST: Mason Williams

TITLE: The Prince's Panties

There was once a prince who acted strangely in that

He thought life was stupid and it was for him so

He made up a world in which he liked the things we liked

But he had different reasons why he liked them

He liked butter for its color

He would order toast and color

Waitresses, confused would utter

Sir, I've never heard of toast and color

He'd get angry and begin to choke them

The law would come, and they'd arrest and book him

So his life was a mess of trouble

Still he kept it up

He had dogs, a hundred cocker spaniels and he

Called them panties, 'cause they did that mostly, and he

Did not care at all if they would bark and fetch sticks

Run and jump, roll over, and play dead tricks

No, he liked them only for their panting

So he would run them ragged, but one day they got fed up

And chased the prince right up against the fence

And the prince was eaten by his panties

I can sometimes "mask" the vocals on a standard CD, however, the type that already have no vocals and have the lyrics on the screen are a specialized disc called a CD+G (CD + Graphics)
