2007 Twins Golden Ticket

Submitted by Clue Master on
Clue #1

The Twins Gold Ticket is hidden once more.
Only five days! So head out the door.
Don't be confused when you find it to be
hidden in something you cannot see!

Clue #2

Head towards Spring Training but not so far down,
get away from the twins, not the team, but the town.
Go on an incline, meeker hunters be bold,
and you'll pick up the ticket, the one that is gold!

Clue #3

Tony O and the Killer made famous this place,
with their strength and their bats and their gentle grace.
Add Punto, Castillo and then you will know
that all you need now, is go with the flow.

Clue #4

A series of parks where water flows through it,
Hunter's position just might guide you to it.
There are good games a-plenty, and grills to cook food,
trails wander below for sweet solitude.

Clue #5

Make certain your steps when you're done parking.
One hundred yards right and you'll see a mile marking.
In the elves' bumpy home, up the hill many feet,
Right a bit of the signpost, the ticket you'll meet!

Spring training is in a southeast direction, but there aren't any cities south of St Paul in Ramsey County that I can think of. So they must mean southerly direction, and south of Minneapolis somewhere.

Or maybe by Fort Snelling because of Ft. Meyers?

Does this warrant it's own temporary thread? It's over by Friday either way.

It might not be a bad idea to give it its own thread. Also, when/where do the clues come out?
Mon, 03/26/2007 - 1:30 PM Permalink
Clue Master

Only in the Strib sports section. Not on-line or by phone.

King Boreas aka Ian

Tony Oliva and Harmon Killebrew played at Met Stadium, which is now MOA. There is a Killebrew Drive.

I *think* Punto and Castillo play shortstop. There is a Short Stop convenience store on the frontage road along Cedar (MN77) near 494

This is 2:00 am thinking and I may be totally wrong, but ...

do they do alot of work with the shriners hospital? thats just off mississippi river then if you go with the flow you get to the ford plant did they do ford comericals? I HATE BASEBALL !! so what do you think? I JUST WANT TO DANCE!!!!!!!!! GOD SOMEONE SHOOT ME NOW!!!!!

Punto plays third base, Castillo plays second base. It could mean an infield. I think Castillo is considered one of the "piranhas", but it was Punto and Bartlett that did the commercial in Underwater World at MOA.

Oliva was an outfielder, and Killebrew was a first baseman. I think it just means it's on or near a ballfield.

Flow.. like the log ride at the park FKA camp snoopy?
Tue, 03/27/2007 - 7:16 AM Permalink
barefootguy

Could be... but I think the rules say public property, and the MOA is not public property.

My mom thought of the log chute ride too, but as BFG says, the MOA isn't really public property. Could be outside the MOA somewhere perhaps.

Flow could mean the gas station Ian talked about.

what about simply Bloomington and down by the river...

diggin4it

My thoughts are also the MOA - in the park. There's the home plate on the floor which was where the home plate was from the met stadium and the chair up on the wall where a big homer was hit to, which is just above the log ride.

...and tho the mall is privatly owned I would think that it is open to the public 7 days a week

The move function was all messed up today. But anything regarding the Golden Ticket hunt should be in here even though the order might be messed up a bit. All should be OK moving forward anyway.

I like the river idea.

There's a wild life refuge on the river not far from the old Met Stadium. You walk down a ramp (incline) to get there.

KC0GRN

Heh, if it's in the national wildlife refuge, they're going to have to start narrowing down where pretty fast. That place is pretty big, if I remember correctly.
Tue, 03/27/2007 - 3:22 PM Permalink
OT

Yes, it's huge! But there are some obvious landmarks before you go off on the paths.

I would be shocked if it was in the wildlife refuge. I recall many signs that say "stay on the path" from my visit last fall.
Tue, 03/27/2007 - 4:37 PM Permalink

Actually, so would I. I'm seldom right. :pbpt:

Just throwing it out there because it's pretty much the only place I know of out that way.

So I'm at a park looking for the Golden Ticket and come across this

So what did you do? Is it real? Is that a stupid question? Did you call the cops? Did you touch it? Is there a reward? :pbpt:

I did call the cops and I did touch it and there wasn't a reward

HeH - I had a tenant event today at work and had to wear one of those corny work t-shirts. It was comfortable but it gave me that Miami Vice look under my coat. :eyeroll:

It was a real gun. A real pellet gun that is.

I thought I'd call it in anyway in case there were some kids shooting windows out last night or something. I got to keep it anyway.

Then I decided to check out the mall and came across quite a few other hunters. There had to be about 50 scouring around the log ride alone. I went out and got my flashlight and checked out every single crack in that dimly lit saw mill. I did run into Art and friend (name?) over by the home plate. A cop told them it wasn't there. We knew that but it was hard to ignore the crowd of searchers anyway. It was fun hunting the MOA park. Lots of hiding places. That's definitely the place to search when it's -20.
