I was out last night and a little bit this morning. I hope it goes until Thursday morning...However I plan to be out walking the parks in the morning and tomorrow evening after 8pmish.
Here's the clues for anyone wishing to noodle a bit.
It might be goosepond park. that's right next to a church. There's Portapotties there.. Hopefully tomorrow's clue will shed more light.
I like this year's clues a TON better, they seem to give you a lot more useful information. Hopefully it'll be one of those when you're in the right spot everything falls into place deals.
Maybe that lady actually read my email regarding how bad the clues last year were....
I just snuck out of work for a quick break and checked out Horseshoe park - - -it's (probably) not there... but I liked the "stall" (horse) and "behind the row" clues for this park. The rows of horseshoe pits and the porta potty all run in a straight row which is followed by a brick wall and then a large pole laying on the ground to define the parking lot. All marking a very straight row.
I also thought the ..."not designed with you in mind but offers you a chance to go" thinking a majority of people don't play horseshoes but if you wanted to this is where you could go.
Just some markings I noticed when I was grabbing a geocache in that park here a while back
I thought of Guthrie and Golfveiw because they have basketball. I went by the nature center, the main enterance is blocked off due to the construction of the new nature center.(not the lot or old center, just the path to the new one)
Body- reminded me of the grave looking marker at Erble. Wanted to hit guthrie, but had to come home and look up where it was. Maybe I'll hit it later.
I did look around the rows of bushes at Goosepond.
If I remember correctly, it's not exactly a basketball court. More just a basketball hoop mounted to a pole near the parking lot (it might be the church's).
just remember how aweful the clues were - especially the one where the mayor or governors or city council members lived next to someone ?? don't remember the exact clue but it was just so far fetched.
The basketball hoop could be in the church parkinglot NOT IN the park itself.
I went back to Preserve park where I saw the pile of rocks in the hole and it's not there. Clues kinda fit there though. Theres a big rock in a garden (no baskets, barells, or benches) but there is a structure that looks like a "stall" around a single bench in the middle of the garden. The rock has a plaque attached that mentions the business association on it. If its there, its not under those flat rocks there.
I also checked on Guthrie- not on my list anymore.
At Goosepond there is not a basketball hoop at the church.
I also checked Tower and theres no where to put it there.
Actually it's because it's a different file they upload and change every day.
Looks like oakdale has updated their website to the same system alot of cities are using. It's simpler for maintaining content because all they have to do is upload PDF files for whatever. Pain the the butt for seasoned veteran web surfers though.
Here's the real trick. I bet they've uploaded all the clues already, they just change the link in the morning. Find the filename for the most recent clue... :ooh: :ooh:
I was all ready to head out as soon as the clue came out :frown: I was thinking journey end meant a dead end as in Golfveiw or maybe Northdale. (you have to weave around the dead end to get there)
Golfview huh? I wonder when it was found though. Seems like they only update the info in the morning, it might have been found early yesterday for all we know....
sigh* Well, better luck next year I hope. I hope they put up the clue meanings soon, or I'll have to email them.
I vaguely remember driving in to the park once during the hunt a couple years ago. I remember the basketball so I think I know which little park that is-woulda been a fun one to search
I better get out and look.
Here's the clues for anyone wishing to noodle a bit.
Clue 1
Summerfest week is here,
and the medallion hunt begins today.
No digging, climbing, or swimming.
These rules apply to all who play.
Not designed with you in mind,
But offers you a chance to go.
No need to venture very far,
The spot you want is behind the row.
Clue 2
The Oakdale Business and Professional Association
Helps the community in multiple ways.
They back this hunt and so much more,
And certainly deserve our praise.
Barrels and baskets and benches.
Offered at some parks, not all.
DonÂ’t be diverted,
You wonÂ’t want to stall.
I thought either a nature park (Oakdale) or a vague reference to a portapotty. Stall in the 2nd clue kind of backs the later theory up.
2nd Clue 1st letters spell out BODY. Body of water? Body as in part of a church name? Or maybe it's just an odd coicidence.
A misplaced letter U
And certainly deserve our praise
This is where I see the church clue but who knows

Prize money this year is 750 bucks! That's the second highest summer hunt prize!

Boy that could come back to bite me if it ends up there though...
(however I didn't think my email about last years clues was THAT bad)
I thought of Guthrie and Golfveiw because they have basketball. I went by the nature center, the main enterance is blocked off due to the construction of the new nature center.(not the lot or old center, just the path to the new one)

not in a park with any swimming --
is in a park with flat terrain or located on the flat area of the park
and near a church
a park that has all 3 of these not just some or none: trash barrels, basketball and benches
and JOE 17
According to their site only 2 parks have basketball.
Guthrie and Golfveiw.
 Oakdale Parks List
edit: I'm wrong. Theres more than 2. I can't read.
I didn't notice a hoop at goosepond, but I wasn't looking for one either.
The basketball hoop could be in the church parkinglot NOT IN the park itself.
Here's a little preview,
But only to you, my best of friends.
I'll tell you that it's hidden
Under a rock at journey's end.
Don't tax yourself so you'll look your best,
When searching for the prize.
Just weave around and reel about,
To avoid the hill where it lies.
is "freinds" your spelling error or theirs?
I think this clue says its under a rock on flat ground   :eyeroll:
is there a street that would coincide with "journey" - maybe a Journey tune? or dead end street sign?
PREVIEW? like a movie theater near by?
BEST friends are dogs?
TAX? as in a tax preperation near by.
weave and reel - fishing
I know wher I looked under one rock of many in a flat spot yesterday. I might have to go check again.
I thought "tax you" might be saying you dont have to get dirty at all.
I also checked on Guthrie- not on my list anymore.
At Goosepond there is not a basketball hoop at the church.
I also checked Tower and theres no where to put it there.
YOU GO MIKEY!!!!
granite street is awesome! YOU ROCK!
hehe
Const was at Oakdale Park by the Nature Center.
I can't hunt anymore today because I have to study for class tonight.
Maybe tomorrow.
BTW, by now they've usually stated it's in a park, so far I'm not seeing it with the clues. There's a definite journey's end where I'm going though.

So far they haven't changed the phone message, so I'm guessing the hunt is still on.

Why the heck didn't I go out there yesterday :frown:
Well.. on to Roseville, or Columbia Heights.
I don't remember where golfview is- gonna have to look at the map
I vaguely remember driving in to the park once during the hunt a couple years ago. I remember the basketball so I think I know which little park that is-woulda been a fun one to search
