We headed west this morning to have our Christmas with Inks' side of the family. We ended up driving in all that crud this morning and then the roads were icy after we drove out of the snow until we were west of Willmar. UGH!!
Driving back tonight was much better - but the side streets in the 'hood are slick, slick, slick.
We left early this morning so, thankfully, the traffic wasn't too bad. We only saw one car in the ditch and that was laying on its side with law enforcement on the scene already. That was between Litchfield and Willmar somewhere.
The one thing that made us go was the thought of trying to reschedule - and we had the main course of the meal in the cooler. If we had not been able to get there, they would have had a green salad, a fruit/whipped cream/cookie salad, a Happy Birthday Jesus cake and milk for dinner.
It was fun to see our niece and her family again. She has three kids - two are twins that will be turning 3 in February. One is blond and looks very much like her dad. The other is a true red head. That red hair is definately a Valentine family trait.
And our son's fiance got to meet everyone so that was fun too. My father-in-law cornered her early on and gave her his speech about how she is now part of the family and about how she has found such a wonderful man to be her husband. I knew that would happen. I hope Brian warned her like I told him to do. I knew that would happen sometime during the day.
He seems never for a loss for words - and many of them. :goofy:
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I'm getting excited about seeing everyone together on Tuesday too. We'll have lots of babies here this Christmas
Yes that was very cool. My favorite Wild player in history is Aaron Voros after not even starting the season with the team, but in the minors. He moved in by Jake the other day and Jake had him talk to me on the phone for a couple of minutes it was pretty cool.
well at least you woulda had some really good food to eat if you got stuck in the ditch terry. you're making me hungry. Im really glad you and your dil-to-be had a memorable time. Those first meetings can be nerveracking.
I had to venture out this morning - idiots at the guitar store locked the guitar case with the keys in the case when they sold it to us, I didn't know it til thismorning so I had to drive to the store so they could open it. Would NOT have been cool to get to Aitkin and then Christmas morning for Sarah to open her present, only to find we woulda had to break the lock so she could see what she got
my point.... - its really REALLY cold out and the roads are a bit crunchy and slippery from that quick freeze. stay safe out there.
Had a little practice for the hunt yesterday. A daughter and I went to Riverview Cemetery to put up a wreath and leave a candle at our husband/father's grave. The place was covered with snow and a layer of ice under the snow. I thought I knew exactly where to start digging so I started digging away with my snow brush when I got to the layer of ice. So Angela was kicking away the ice while I brushed and we dug up a huge area of the cemetery before we finally found it! Took us 45 minutes. I wasn't going to give up and leave the wreath and candle somewhere on a guess. Someone must have done just that though, because there's a wreath where I'm going to be buried. I think that's what got me off track.
We couldn't stop laughing. I think it was hysterical laughing because it really wasn't that much fun.
If they had dropped that medallion before the ice formed it would be a really difficult hunt!
And for those of you, like me, who needed to Google Map their mothers house, today the little man symbol is a snowman! If I knew how to get a screnshot, I would. But I don't.
I'm planning an outing with some family members with adults and young kids ages 1 1/2 - 7 and we want to go sledding anyone have any suggestion of some hills around that aren't too big aren't to small just perfect for kid sledding?

might be a little too big for the little ones but you can pull them around there on their sleds.
My cap key doesn't work for the left side of my keyboard.
