2008 Oakdale Summerfest Hunt

Submitted by KITCH on
Clue 1 Each year, it begins the same.
We remind you how to play.
No digging, climbing, or swimming.

There. Now you’re on your way.
Celebrate on the fourth of July,
By proudly waving the flag.
But to learn the clue, pick only two hues,
Or up front you will start to lag.

Clue 2 X marks the spot
For you to pause and ponder.
If your mind is wide open,
You’ll know you need to wander.

Business association extraordinaire!
Our sponsors, the OBPA.
A strong foundation in the community,
A group effort that paves the way.

Clue 3 It’s only natural to solve the clues.
And we want you to find the prize.
So look for it a little beyond,
And it’s wearing a bit of a disguise.

If you’re a veteran of hunts,
Or just starting out,
To find the hidden medallion,
You simply need to seek it out.

Clue 4 No ransom to pay
To a road traveled less.
Pretty smooth sailing,
By where you end your quest.

It’s good to be constructive,
So don’t detour any more.
Living on a prayer used to work,
But now it’s another door.

it would be Red and Blue they Are the only Hues on the flag white is not a hue!!

but then if you think about it it could be a park that the last name is that of 2 different guys!!! named Hue!!!

Tartan High School Colors = Blue and White

Hill Murray = Green and Gold

Mounds Park Academy = Blue and White (not in Oakdale, I think)

but if white isnt a hue, why are we still focusing on it??
Mon, 06/16/2008 - 7:19 PM Permalink

or maybe its referring to the Vietnamese city of Hue... which sounds nothing like the word we're discussing....

sounds like "whey"...

Checked out a lot of places tonight. I'm not buying tanners, but I stopped by there anyway. BTW, every place I went tonight was crawling with people. As a veteran of this hunt, that was kind of unusual.

Oakdale park by the old schoolhouse had potential to me. It's close to a fire station (fireworks), the old school house (learn), and a flagpole. How two colors works in though doesn't make much sense.

Still, I know in previous years I've been really wrong about interpretations on these clues. They actually seem more intent on throwing you off than giving you something you can use.

I'm hitting the sack, plan to be up early for the clue tomorrow and hopefully have an hour or two to search. Goodnight all.

I thought the clue said you wouldn't have to climp or be near swimming and stuff that made me stay away from Tanners - however that could be a clever way of saying its not near any of that and still there. Wasn't it there the year before last. In the drain hole in a baggy?

pause and ponder = paws = dogs

ponder = pond

remember there stupid clue one year that meant the park was across the street from a local celebrity/mayor or something?

could this be near the home of one of the Business Associations head guys?

and paves = black top

KC0GRN

nah, they mention the Business Association every year, it's just because they're the ones that sponsor the hunt. It's never meant anything.

Paved probably does though, most likely a paved trail, possibly where two meet (x marks the spot). Some of the trails at Oakdale Park have names, I wonder if there's a colored trail map in that park somewhere.... So far, that's where I'm guessing this year's will be at, Oakdale park.

I could be wrong though, I have been before, heh.

I think that was 2 yrs ago. The old mayor (or someone) lived across from tanners.

I like the Paws thing. They used something like that last year. They had the kennel by 694 and century.

Paves I thought was a trail (paved trail)

Yep.

I'm not buying Tanners myself. If it's there, it's pretty lame that they'd put it back there so quickly.

There's a St. Mark's church in North St. Paul, not sure if you can see it from anywhere in Oakdale though.

I was there last night. Checked around the old school house, nature center and flagstaff. Today's clue would put me deeper in the park there. If I have time tonight, I'll go out again.

umm.. probably not until 8ish, I have to be in st. louis park around 7.

Nobody else is out that I know of, unless Mikey or Mucluck is out there.

If it is there, I'd assume unless someone gets really lucky it'll go to another clue.

Has it ever been in Richard Walton Park? That looks good to me at this stage of the hunt.
