Last night! the game between mexico and sweden was amazing. Sweden won 1-0 which was fine, but being that I was in a stadium with, oh 40k mexico fans, I really wanted to hear what the crowd would have sounded like, had they erupted in a GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL cheer.
They did 'the wave' five times consecutively around the entire stadium all 4 levels, and it really was a sight to see tho.
Way more action that a MLB or NFL game. I am so happy to get to have seen something like this.
Been just about 5 months on the new job - still loving it.
Yesterday I received a handwritten thank you card from our division director thanking me for all the positive changes I've implemented within the division, mentioned the personnel issues I'm having with one of my direct reports and how she's heard I'm handling that so well (told me to hang in there with that), and that she's so grateful that I came back to the Foundation.
USPS lost a couple of billion last year. Layoffs are expected on the managerial and non-bargaining jobs. Which is fine cuz there is way too much upper management anyway.
The USPS employs 700,000...... if they lay off just 10% that's 70,000 people out of work.
Both my husband and I had tested very high for the accounting and data collection dept but we never got around to applying for those jobs. Luckily we didn't cuz most of those people are losing their jobs and the rest are moving to Denver.

To the Crew,
The Planet would like to help foster the online community you all have been building. Here are plans and possibilities:
1) I'm checking under Water Cooler's hood for ways to capture all the posts from this discussion. I'll let you know when I figure out something.
2) We've harvested the e-mail addresses from people participating in this discussion with an eye on creating a medallion-hunt-related listserve (e-mail mailing list). We'll tell more as soon as we establish how the listserve will be used and how to respect the privacy of those who own those e-mail addresses.
3) PioneerPlanet can donate web space from our InfiNet servers for a medallion hunt crew web page. (I have to get the final OK, but I think we can do it.) We can link to that page from PioneerPlanet and a Water Cooler discussion. Logistical details to consider: (A) Who's going to maintain said web page? and ( I'm not sure InfiNet will allow the kind of scripting that creates guestbooks, etc.
4) Planning for Water Cooler and/or medallion hunt apparel is bubbling in the crafty minds of those at PioneerPlanet who create such things.
5) Finally, in a day or so I want to establish a general discussion area for the Water Cooler crew. My hope is that it can be general enough to draw in people who don't hunt but want to find some nice folks to shoot the breeze with, and yet specific enough to meet the needs of you treasure-huntin' fiends. (And of course, when it comes time for the hunt next year, we'll open up a special area in advance of the hunt.)
Whew! I hope you got through all that. Of course, your feedback and e-mails are welcome. Please let us know what we can do for you.
Terry, thanks for those quotes from 1998. Sure brings back memories. Especially cool to realize that it was Santa Dave's idea to have a pre-dig gig. Does anyone still have their Pioneer Press beanie???
Red beanie that said Pioneer Press and had propellers at the top. Really quite fashionable.
The Pioneer Press was all abuzz with this new online community that was taking that next step to meet face-to-face to rehash the hunt. John Jordan and someone whose name isn't coming to me now both showed up at the rehash and passed out those beanies.
Fun times. Great memories...just like every year. Not a single year that isn't filled with warm fuzzies.
getting a Miss Sixty red lace up dress for my Vday party for $19 bucks at the Miss Sixty store in Union Square - the dress was originally over $200. I don't think it's THAT special, but for $19 - it rocks my socks.
I have my Stitch, Bitch & Wine tonight that I am hosting, and I have over 20 wonderful ladies attending.
My stupid insurance FINALLY approved my Asthma meds after my Dr. called them directly and said - listen... you guys are idiots, she needs this, and they said - ok.
I've gone from having 5 women to 10 of the the 16 I need - paid and confirmed for soccer - and I still have 8 more days to get the others, and as of right now I have 4 'in the wings' so to speak - this could get buttoned up nicely by Thursday!
I have leads on 4 women for my under 30 team that I need also.
My boss realizing that I work hard and get stuff accomplished.
or barkitchen.
An evening of being obsession free, watching Lost and sipping hot cocoa.
{ click } shutting off brain now
Wait... maybe that's how you get everything to make sense... :goofy:

Enjoy ... the look on my husband's face yesterday when I complained it was too cold the house.
finding out it used to be part of "swede bottom"
