Are there any statues in Highland Park? and does anyone know the streets surrounding that park? All I can think of now is Snelling, I hope my brain isnt cooked this early into it.

The streets around Valley are Jackson, University, Winter, and Mt Airy. But clue #5 isn't referring to a street name.

Allison - Can you see the gold horses from Valley? I thought about those as soon as I read that gold clue.

In reference to Valley- maybe they're talking about Jesse Jackson- he sure was courageous! HAHA

I believe you can see the gold horses, but even if you couldn't, I thinks that's one of those "optional" clues where if it fits, great, but if it doesn't there's no reason to think it actually has to. Gold could just be referring to the treasure.

this is only a test (to see if I actually remembred what I think I remembred)

Thanks Allison...just doing some figuring..

It could be Andrew jackson too, but its not. There's a better explanation. :)

Alright, just for you, here's my version of clue #5:

The school at Valley is Franklin Magnet. Magnets are made of steel, but Franklin was not. Yet Benjamin Franklin was a man of mettle. (The clue writer is making a little joke).

Mulden, She is at Woodwinds now. Yep, the Carolyn I know.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd share my thougts. Don't hold me to this, but this was my first reaction last night. "A man of steel" is a refference to Superman, but he "cannot be real" and "another has plenty of mettle". Who is "another" that is being reffered to? Another superhero? What Superhero has plenty of "mettle"? Well, Iron Man of course! So basically look for the word "iron" around where the treasure is hidden.

I want to go dig- but I wish I had an idea where to go- this sucks

Scribe, did you post ad that JOE?

Thu, 01/25/2001 - 10:17 AM Permalink

Deb - Knowing how much my mom likes to talk, I'm sure you've heard all about my brothers and me.

MedallionStallion

Here is the hole in your theory on clue 5 Allison, the clue makes reference to a "man of steel" and "another". I believe this "another" is the name for which we need to look for around the hiding place.

maybe I'm lost - but could someone tell me what a JOE is?

Any thoughts on Eastview park?

Thu, 01/25/2001 - 10:20 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Its not a hole. "Franklin Magnet" is the "man of steel" that doesn't exist. But Benjamin Franklin is another (real) man who has a lot of mettle.

Hey scribe! I can't wait until the midnight digs, what about you? I will most likely be going out late tonight and tomorrow? U?

Mulden, I need to get over to visit her. I saw her in passing at Woodwinds recently. To make sure it is for sure the right Carolyn. Did she hurt her back?

magnets are not only made of steel. iron, steel, nickel, and cobalt, alnico (alloy of aluminum) are all used for magnets. Iron, I beleive is the most common metal used for magents.

Ok, maybe I'm dumb, but are Allison and Derick the same person...they sure agree a lot???????

Deb - Yeah, she broke it in '95. She only works MWF now because of it.

Thanks Scribe, though I won't be going out until after I get off work at 5:00. Not even sure if I'll be up to digging or not, plus I have a Mason meeting tonight.

I'm just thinking outloud here but the man of steel is Gillette, steel razors, Gillette's children's hospital at Valley. He had mettle.

once upon a time, leah, there was an annoying critter here who called himself joe medallion. he would post one-letter posts around significant post numbers (100, 1000, 10000, etc.) any post that ends in the number 0 is referred to as a joe in his "honor". post such as 9494 are double joes, 15451 would be a palindrome joe. others exist as well. the lore behind the joe is described at the medallion page on http://www.coolercrew.com/. thanx to tim for providing the text last night that i just stole here.
