Mounds Park has sacred burial grounds as part of the park. One year people really tore up this site, and it caused real problems with the Native American community. (Rightfully so) I think the PP would like to avoid this issue, and not put it in Mounds again.
I'm back. I will say I'm not 100% sure about Valley, but I'm probably 90% sure. I can fit the clues there and fit them really well (in my opinion anyway). The only thing I don't like about it is that the park is essentially the playground for the school and there are indeed kids out there during the day. But maybe the clue writer didn't think about that, or didn't care? If you think the medallion can be at Indian Mounds, Rice, Mears, or Kellogg, then why would you think it couldn't be there? I don't see it fitting anywhere else as well, and certainly putting it there would make for a tougher contest.
n-cat, No one responded - becasue no one knows anything yet. We are all assuming! I feel strong on my guesses, but they change between places on an hourly basis. Wow, that sounds like a clue!!!!!
As for Stallion's comments, I don't think they are intentionally revealing this information. I think the last two clues, while giving good information, were also meant to misdirect people away from the correct park. By throwing in the east and the west, they were trying to fool people into thinking it was one or the other and send them running for the extremes when all the while the thing is right there in the very middle. And then today they use the phrase "man of steel" on purpose because they know the first thing everyone will think of is Superman and they will start looking for names like Clark, Kent, Reeves, etc. But in reality, "man of steel", (in my opinion) is a play on the name "Franklin Magnet". So yes, they are giving us good information, but I don't think they expected anyone to catch it.
But the kids Allison. I was thinking (there I go again) that playing might mean a play and "on your toes" could be ballet. Could it be near a theatre? (Too much?)
Derick, the shooting at McGovern's for last night was cancelled. They went out and filmed people digging instead. So I don't know that anyone actually was there last night other than yourself.
As for the kids, maybe that's what they meant by "prepare to be bold"?
I have class until 5:30, but after that I am going to get the medallion, and it is not anywhere that has been talked about recently. I will be the first person to find it from the water cooler!
Leah, I promise to tell after tonight's clue. That is if it is still leading me there. Going to meet up with my people for some lunch and digging talk to ya'll in a few.
Here's another one of my crazy ideas, not theorys, but my clue hunter support thing. For those of you who don't know, I will have hot apple cider (free), granola bars(50 cents for a package of 2), cookies(50 cents for a package of 16 cookies), hand warmers for (75 cents each). Here is another idea, any of you go straight from the dispatch after getting the clues to the parks? This year i'll take advantage of my notebook computer and printer by printing out the clues and handing them out for free from my truck at the parks. How does this idea sound? Like I said yesterday, i'm all about helping out my fellow hunters.
I need to go back and read the clues from some past hunts, but as I recall, rarely does the writer get too deep. the meanings are obscured, but not two and three levels deep. Street names, park names etc. come out fairly readily. Sorry, Allison, I can't jump on the Franklin Magnet/man of steel thing. I think the obvious Superman reference is the correct one.
I am still a fan of Highland, come full circle to where the treasure was first hidden...
Battle creek also sounds good, several people I work with agreee that there could be some real chances of it being there but I haven't actually scouted there yet, tonight after work and supper
Another possibility for clue 5 could be the end result of something I pointed out earlier. Two years ago, clue 5 I think it was made a very vague reference to a famous man. It turned out to be Babe Ruth, and the way we were supposed to guess that was partially by all the sports references in earlier clues. So perhaps all the war type references are supposed to be a hint as to who the man of mettle is (in which case Andrew Jackson might be a possibility too).
I think i'm gonna take off for a bit. I think i'll be getting the paper tonight at the dispatch, so if you see a tall blond w/ short hair, it might be me. If you see me, feel free to say hi. I haven't found the medallion yet, so i'm not that famous:) yet!
Do recall in clue 2 that they told us to stay away from statues. i think their wording makes it sound like we should be looking for a statue with a name on it, but that's not the case.
Anyone going out looking. I am thinkingof venturing across the border but is it worth it this early in the game???
Kitty, mettle or metal?
What's the deal with "it won't be in Mounds park again" theory. What happened there before that was so horrible?
just to clarify it for everyone... Mettle means courage
Nensea "A man of mettle"
Kitty: I forget, but aren't you in college?
Medallion-less -

Thank you Derick, my co-worker didn't believe me. Medallion-less, some idiots were digging on the mounds. There was a big todo about it.
people digging in the burial mounds like jack"arses" (I forget about the whole non-swearing thing")
I appreciate the 411!!!
Medallion-less Ya...what they all said...
Kitty, there are so many streets named after men of mettle, can you narrow it down a little? Please?? :)
Same thing when it was at conway rec. The clue is telling you two names that you must connect. At least thats my theory
Thanks DerikDavis- nice site:)
Derick, I go to the "U", Nensea- if I did that everyone would know and find it before me. The street of the "man of mettle" is his last name.
Is it Jackson Kitty?
I do what I can

Kitty: Where at the U? I am currently in Amundson Hall.
No one responded to my non-park theory. Is it that bad? (I'm still a novice at this.)
Anyone here at the pub last night? I was there, but didn't where to go...
n-cat, No one responded - becasue no one knows anything yet. We are all assuming! I feel strong on my guesses, but they change between places on an hourly basis. Wow, that sounds like a clue!!!!!
Cougar- I am at home, couldn't make it to class today b/c I was out too late last night. Leah, Jackson is not what I have in mind.
I like the man of mettel ford plant idea for hidden falls. Kent st also works and ideas aout other metal man names ML King, ..

I am having a lot of trouble posting, anyone else?

I like that Dave! That actually makes sense among all this madness!
I like that AW - it makes sense to stick with the history of the way the clues worked in the past.
Good thought Alison
Need to go do an errand, back in a little bit.
Are statues made of steel or some other metal?
That makes great sense AW.
AW - Along that line, how about Congressional Medal of Honor (men of courage)
Fats
