Just judging by the webcam shot of the truck, and no other clues, I would still say Oklahoma. The color of the soil and the grasses are a dead giveaway. Maybe extreme northern Texas is similar, but that is definitely Oklahoma.

Ended up being in Maine.. Sort of a weird spot, but I guess if you're looking for a relatively large area of unused space to hide a vehicle at on the eastern seaboard.. Maine would be the logical choice.

Oops......My story was about a Jeep. That might not qualify me.

But I'm sure I'll hear from their dealers!!!!

Signed up already. Cool that there's 3 in MN and 3 in NY. Will probably do two anyway

What a scam. First you have to agree to a Chevy dealer contacting you and then you have to provide the name and other personal information of another person to finalize your entry.
Mon, 10/03/2011 - 7:43 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

Yeah.. GM marketing kind of sucks. It's like the chevy booth at the state fair, you have to fill out a form with contact information (and they check it to make sure you didn't fake anything) just to get a free tshirt with their logo all over it.

Regardless, it's another car giveaway I guess :goofy:

Then it's not a problem if I give them your cell phone number and carrier name so I can finish my registration?

I didn't see where they asked for other info. Just gave name and number and received a confirmation email. Fairly simple

Didn't you get this second email?

Hello B,

Congratulations! YouÂ’ve been accepted into the Chevy Sonic Adventure presented by the Select Heartland Chevy Dealers!

I got it now. I don't know if I'm even going to do it since you can't use bikes. I'm too old to be jogging all over the place. We did the same hunt for a diamond ring a couple of years ago and that was very tiring even using bikes. fun tho

Nice to see the smaller hunts still happening. I'm still not sure on a few of the summer hunts, especially Oakdale.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Knowing a couple of the businesspeople from downtown, the conventional wisdom right now is to horde as much cash as they can, so when the bypass bridge is built they can survive the 'loss' of business. Doesn't matter that the bridge threat has always been around for 5+ decades, it's 'real' now. The economy is just as much to blame for the lack of money; not many want to spend on kitschy souvenir and craft shops right now.

Truth be told, the Lumberjack people have been going cheap for quite a few years now, which is why their entertainment selections have not been as 'nice' or 'family-friendly'. It would take next to nothing to just have a simple art fair with some fireworks, but NOBODY will pony up the dough for it. If they want to have their huge concerts and attractions of years gone by, someone has to really stick their neck out, and it won't be a local person.

well, and to charge the admission that they charged just to get in to the shopping and food tents did the same thing to them that it did to the taste.
Wed, 03/07/2012 - 10:42 AM Permalink
Grey Wolf

Yeah......gate admission charges are the kiss of death for these events. Who wants to pay to get in only to be overcharged for food and drinks.

Taste.........gone

Lumberjack Days.......gone

let's not give the uptown and edina art fairs any ideas.

The disturbing trend seems to be a lot of local festivals and events are closing up either due to lack of funds or lack of people willing to run them. We'll probably see less and less medallion hunts in the future. Too bad really.

I think they have a pretty lucrative revenue stream from booth space rentals.

Keep the fairs free - charge $50 for parking?

Pay toilets by the beer garden?

Hemp sales at the gates to give people the munchies when they are trapped inside?

Artemis The Huntress

I could work the gate?)

Except hemp is not going to give folks the munchies (no thc - only cbn's(the next cure to end types of cancer) - )

The White Bear Lake hunt starts in the middle of June as well. It usually starts on a Thursday, so I'm guessing June 14. So if anyone is planning a mock hunt cough *Ares* cough cough, they should get it done before then.
