the finder came up with "From star to star, beckoning to you from afar" is an anagram of "outsmart an icy frog not far from Estabrook" over in aw's yahoo group (stolen from aw's post on the cc facebook group).

It has been found.

So was it found north of the Estabrook - Lexington intersection or south of the intersection? We were in both spots digging yesterday afternoon. But the north spot is not being pointed to by the torpedo propeller.

The anagram I had was... " Turns his head away Just the rare statue he gazed" vs "Turn his head just a ways

At the treasure he'd gaze."

Maybe they're still frozen. Give them time to thaw out...

My take on star to star is from the past locations as marked (with a star) on the Treasure Hunters Guide. At Schiller and at the torpedo. Draw your line from star to star as shown in the book.

the south side. there's a grove of trees right at the intersection. it was just to the northeast of there according to timmers.

Rick Brass my Son (and Rob) gave Ben his pocket knife to cut open up the jeans and then watched him take the puck out! He even told Ben your digging right where I wanted to dig. So he dug next to him..and the rest is history

Quite a few of the clues were noodled spot on. I'm trying to remember though, did anyone here nail all the rainbow connections to Perry Como? Seems so obvious now in hind sight, but I don't recall it. Maybe because there were soooo many ideas coming forth on the rainbow theme.

Damn, the spot it was found in was where I was going to look today, but for a different reason than what the clues explained. I was going to start with those 4 pine trees lined up so nicely, and then widen my circle, so I would have been close and maybe would have most likely at least turned up snow very near the spot it was hidden. And actually - that's the only spot where the statue I believe was visible, so I may have put a bit more time around that area. Oh well...

Actually, I like these clues. It starts broad and brings you to the area, like it should.

I never bother with Perry Como or Bing Crosby references--they recorded virtually every song ever written. You can find a song for every situation. In other words, it narrows nothing down.

Point to be learned from this hunt--Just because it says Ramsey County, and not St. Paul, or park, does not mean it isn't in a St. Paul park. We can put that saw to rest.

I really hate to say it.. but I'm getting closer to not renewing my account here. It gets slower and less used every year... sad I know....

This was fun and I really enjoy this forum over the others. Seems a lot of people here are smart, considerate and serious about solving, helping, and finding the puck. Thank you! I will be back next year so hopefully this board will be as well. And next year, I'll be back in MN digging again!

This is a great discussion board and I hope it is back again. The other ones, especially the pioneer press boards, are horrible. Everyone is so negative and putting each other down and now bitching about the hunt and how unfair it was etc...ugh.

I also find many of the posts on this board very humorous and amusing, so please do not end it. Keeps me sane for the days we are hunting.

Thanks everyone. Plan on reading a lot of history of st. Paul and parks during the off season since I am not originally from here.

Stay warm. susan

I like this board the best during the hunt too. People here seem to be more open about sharing ideas. And it's a fun group.

LMAO!

Yes... there is something to the saying "less is more".

Everyone here is serious noodlers and polite. Yay for us.

Plus I don't get noodling on the CC facebook page when there are over 240 people there now.

For all the newbies - welcome. Feel free to jump in more even if you think your ideas are way off - sometimes the more obscure noodles end up being right. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then. :goofy:

No one has to leave just because the hunt is over. This whole folder is filled with threads that might interest you and then there is a general discussion area - Shoot the Breeze - that is a nice way to get to know others.

I don't like FB for noodling or following conversation. I much prefer this forum over others. This is a nice group and if you stick around, there are mock hunts done throughout the year - not always in this cold weather.

I actually needed to get some stuff done today that I didn't do for the Hunt. Like laundry, etc. Plus Olympic story to file; 19 on TeamUSA are from Minnesota, tied with colorado for the most athletes representing the US and only Cali has more and only by 1. One Men's Ice Hockey TeamUSA Sochi Olympics is from South St Paul! my graduating town.

I also don't "jump ship" and post noodles on other sites that aren't my noodles. In addition, I do more noodling on this site and don't share much. But I do enjoy the CC FB site for year 'round socializing.

I read it somewhere either here or facebook on a few posts. Como's songs. I remember thinking it was a stretch, since we already had Como in "pits". No harm for most in ignoring it, but I foolishly conjured up the rainbow clue again last night to lead me far astray after some time at the Torpedo ... :eyeroll:

Agree! #4 led me on a wild goose chase for a literal rainbow. Unfortunately found them and pointing to "Como".

I understood what #5 was getting at [paraphrasing a romantic poet] and it did lead me to Schiller's Ode to Joy before #6 ...even tho it was supposed to send me to Longfellow. I balked at slogging thru Longfellow after Evangeline ...Should have read up on the "gates ajar" installation being dedicated. Never did.
