I need to see Memento again. Isn't there a website that tells you the plots of all the movies? If so, please post it because I still dwell on that movie!!! Oh, and has anyone read the book that inspired it? Is it good/worth it?

lol. No. It was more like a short story or novella, I believe, and it was set in time either just before the events in the movie or just after -- don't know. Not much help, am I?

Saw "One Night at McCool's" this morning. After watching Matt Dillion in
"There's Something About Mary" last night it served him right what this chick did to him
in this movie........and I will never look at Paul Reiser the same way again!LOL!

I have an idea for a movie that truly surprises me no one has ever come up with before, because it deals with such a common, everyday occurence:

A vain guy gets really pissed on account of he's opened up People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" special issue for the past decade...without EVER having been included.

So he sets off in a huff for New York, or wherever People is published, intent on making them notice the "obvious".

Along the way, he picks up a female hitchhiker (played by
Sandra Bullock) who is really a space-alien "operative"
sent to find a suitable candidate for prodding and other
experimentative stuff by beings from past the near stars.

One of the first things she does is send a "representation" of his face to the mother ship, to see if
her superiors feel he's a desirable candidate for...stuff.

Turns out he is.

And she's asked to get into his good graces to make the
abduction less like trying to put pants on a cat.

But she falls in love with him, and decides to abandon her own kind to stay with him.

That really irritates Gork, the space boss.

He sends cosmic commandos to hunt our Beautiful Boy down,
with a picture of his face in one hand and a ray gun in the other.

The remainder of the movie is an escape thriller, finally culminating in both Beautiful Boy and Bullock getting plastic surgery to alter their identities.

They wind up ugly as sin, but safe, and happy together.

I'm looking forward to the June release of a movie about the Navaho code writers of World War II. I hope it's honest.

Muskwa, did you see the Count of Monte Cristo?

Thu, 02/14/2002 - 12:55 AM Permalink

No. We haven't decided if we want to see it. There have been so many re-makes. Is it any good?

Sorry to butt in on your conversation, but I have to caution you. If you have read the book, the variations from it will bug the heck out of you. If not, you will like it. I made the mistake of seeing it just after I finished the book.

Thanks, Dal. I read it so long ago I've forgotten the details. I'll be sure not to re-read if we decide to go.

Good read, MD...right on, but the movie is extremely entertaining and it's a good story, well acted, wonderful screen work and tastefully done.

That's exactly what my husband kept saying as I was poking his arm every 3 minutes and saying, "That wasn't in the book," "That wasn't in the book," "That wasn't in the book."

It's been years since I read the story. Dumas was plagerized so many times in the Three Musketeers and now in this one. Perhaps Hollywood doesn't think he knows how to write an action story.

Crazy, isn't it?

Bill Fold,

I will be there opening day to see "We were soliders'

It's based on the true story of the book "we were soldiers once and young" A great book and wrenching story. I think Gibson plays the part of Col. Hal Moore. It is a phenomanal story that has so much drama that it shouldn't need to be "hollywoodized" at all. I hope they don't. It's a great book and am looking forward to the movie.
