oh for cryin out loud, big deal itf it's at como, I'd search there just as much as I'd search anywhere else.

Still likin Beaver Lake though, hope I didn't mess myself up with that jaunt I took out there on Thursday...

Not likely an ice rink I don't think with paths around it.

Well I know back in 58 they put it in the ice in the lake at Phalen and dumped milk on it.. to reference that clue w/the milky way or something like that...

while away the time=zone=central park roseville?

in ice?

Sun, 01/23/2005 - 10:30 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

nah, a path along a stream or a lake sounds good to me. Fits with where I think it might be....

It was just in ice 2 years ago at Como, I highly doubt they would encase it in ice again, at least so soon

mystical_muzik

Either that or it'll be stuck in a block of ice, burried in the snow, by a lake...

It only says around it's (the parks) paths we chosen. It don't say the path is around water.

If the medallion was hidden prior to snow...and remember we had some ice storm on New Year's Day...it could very well be encased in ice.

I might just go out tomorrow.  Supposed to me nice out I guess.

it's saying there was no snow so it's in ice

Sun, 01/23/2005 - 10:33 PM Permalink
Med2k

I agree Lisa n Amy's Mommy, but they have never hidden it in the same thing twice ever, I could see that they used the same park twice so closely together, but I don't see them doing that with what it is hidden in.

But strangers things have happened, I'll never say never

That's the first thing I got out of the clue too, that it was hidden with the assumption there would be little/no snow, so I think we can rule out a Merriam out in the middle of nowhere and count in it being not in plain view

I will have to say goodnight - I'll be back at 4:30 to slog, and post any wild ideas I come up with :).

I need another clue....

It says water is frozen could be a drinking fountian that don't work.  Does not mean neccesarly ice.  can't rule out non lake parks yet.  But you can rule out parks without paths.

Cool pic Clue Master !

ty - It's one I think I'll use for the hunt each year.

I need to type up that park pick list.  I'll post it here and make up a site for it too.  As far as those who weren't at the PDG - there was no way of including you in the initial picks since you would have needed to be there to pick in order.  You can still get in on it if there are no objections.  I'm not sure if people will be OK with it or not since there are 2 clues listed already.  Anybody?  The way we worked it so there would be a winner no matter what was to give the last person who's name was picked to guess get to have the rest of the areas not already picked.  PayMe got the lot on that deal.  Sorry Wicked Nick  :-(

But if others were allowed to pick parks all it would do was decrease PayMe's list which would still be OK.  Anybody want to add something?

Do any of the new treasure hunters books have detailed maps of Central Park?  I think that it is very much a possibility.

The THG covers only St. Paul.

Ramsey County parks has a book and a website.

as long as you have the money

That would need to be a given.  I'll be at the PP every night if we decide to add any names.

I'll post the list here in a bit.

I believe what it's hidden in is decided upon taking into account weather conditions at the time of the drop.

okay, nix the cross country ski paths idea.. Como, Phalen, and Highland golf course are it for actual "groomed" trails

Roseville is in Ramsey County and so is in the running until we hear it's a St. Paul park.

That would also mean Maplewood is open to hunting - but that's a question we didn't think to ask the clue writers if that suburb was still off the list because of threatened lawsuits.

They adressed that last year. Maplewood is in

Too bad it didn't say "banks" instead of paths. Then we would know it was referring to a lake not artificial ice.

You just might have something there, 3m.

I'm heading for the covers.  Goodnight, SCDs and happy noodling!

Clue #2

Snow we have missed
much, this not very
white Christmas

But the ice has come
to stay

The water's quite frozen
at this park we have

Along its paths you
may while the time away

Okay that does it, I'm gonna try to look in the area I saw those people at beaver lake, since it's the best lead I got so far (if a bit shaky)

hmmm. if it were an ice rink, there wouldn't be water to begin with. That makes it sound like "natural" water. Does that make sense, or I am over tired?
